Keeping secrets is a big thing with single mothers. Heard about it a lot. They keep things from the other parent. Though this is the first time I heard of a mother telling her child to cover up a crime. I feel for this kid. Hate to see what happens the day she turns on him.

He doesn't know it, but he would be doing himself a huge favor by turning his mom in. This likely would at least open the door quite a bit to Dad getting full custody, and by the little I see above, it would be best for the kid if he did. Though the caveat is not knowing whether the Dad is decent or not.
