I browsed /r/mensrights a long time ago, I agreed with a lot that was said and believe that women do not have a monopoly on gender issues. Over on /r/toronto there was discussion of Dr. Warren Farrell and in that discussion one person accused MRAs as being good in theory but hateful in practice, and that is the reason why I left and is what has brought me here today.

Now, of course a single person on the Internet cannot solely represent a movement, and this is no different here, but the needle that broke the camels back for me was http://www.youtube.com/user/pinegrove33 He seems less an advocate of men's rights and more a guy who had a rough breakup. Last I checked his videos are more hateful than academic.

Did I mistakenly stop reading about men's rights because of an extremist who doesn't represent the movement at all?

I don't plan to debate or even discuss this further this so please don't invest time asking me questions. I've used a throwaway account because I feel I might be torn to shreds, but I do thank everyone in advance for any responses they give. Maybe I made a stupid decision by giving pinegrove33 any consideration, and if I have, I just might have to reconsider.

edit: I was browsing around, why are comments like http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/13cz3c/had_an_argument_with_my_teacher_yesterday/c72xxqt tolerated/up voted? Maybe the teacher is wrong, but it doesn't matter, this type of language is not part of civil debate.
