Hey, I'm new to this reddit here. I was redirected here with my question/request for information, but I have to tell you my situation first.

My girlfriend and I live in Florida. There is a law is here that if the police are ever called due to "domestic violence", then one of the two parties (aka the male) must go to jail. I'm not an abuser and my gf is not an abuser either. But realistically, I know the police don't care about any of that. Also, just because we don't abuse each other, that doesn't mean the police will never be called on us by relatives, neighbors, or someone else. Lastly, I don't expect these type of laws to become any less strict in the foreseeable future.

So the thing is, I want to be prepared in case some nonsense like this ever does happen. If someone has to go to jail, I would honestly rather my girlfriend go to jail than me, because whoever called the police would think twice before doing it again. I need to protect myself if the police show up at my doorstep. Short of reading the police handbook and all Florida statutes- Are there any informational links/resources on this specific subject for men in Florida?
