I can see this happening to anyone. Busy body neighbour hears an argument and calls the police. Shouting at each other is normal in a relationship.

There is a law is here that if the police are ever called due to "domestic violence", then one of the two parties (aka the male) must go to jail.

What you are citing sounds unrealistically vague, even for a "zero-tolerance" jurisdiction.

If the police are called out by a third-party and BOTH of you insist that there is no domestic violence occurring (as opposed to simply an argument/dispute that might have gotten loud), it seems pretty unlikely that there would be anyone arrested.

Welcome to America's domestic violence laws. In spite of the facts - that women initiate violence in relationships more often than men do - Men are assumed to be the aggressor by all, and are treated as such throughout the process. This has been true for over a century.

You might want to keep a video camera on you at all times. If your cell phone video function is poor or hard to use, upgrade to one with HD video recording ability and foll-proof controls. It's really the only way for a man to get a fair trial in this country.

Bottom line is, in 95 percent or more cases, the man will be the one arrested, even if he's bleeding and she is unmarked. After all, she was just defending herself. And because flowers and snowflakes and unicorns.

that doesn't mean the police will never be called on us by relatives, neighbors, or someone else.

What would give you concern that something like this would happen?
