A friend of mine was going on about done YouTube videos she was watching about how men dominate science fields, corporate field, and political fields by number. She was also talking about how the 77 cents for every man's dollar (which was agreeably due to averaging the wages for men and women, not for the same job) was because women are being indoctrinated and driven away from successful fields.

My go-to response here is that there are just more factors going into career choice than money. Women get more workplace flexibility, to work more fun jobs, more time off, more time with their families, etc. Their husbands are work horses for the family to make that possible. Women also get to [spend more money than men (https://hbr.org/2009/09/the-female-economy) so they're not exactly far behind in accessing money. The wage gap is arguably an example of female privilege because of all the nice things that come with it.

She did have multiple anecdotes about her teachers acting unbelievably surprised when she told them she liked math in elementary, and how poorly her male classmates treated her.

Tell her that this sample size of one is very unimpressive. Also show here these two studies showing that women are not behind or facing discrimination in the sciences:

(Just for context, she was explaining why it was more difficult for her to earn an astronomy degree in a stem field than my physics degree)

Again, those are two sources saying otherwise. She also gets social advantages such as being seen as heroic or progressive and what not. Moreover, it was harder for you to get into college at all. There are currently 50% more women in university and boys plight throughout grade schools is well documented.

I'm pretty good with studies but I literally don't know of any saying this. If there are any, I bet they're a bunch of feminist organizations and I'd be wary of bias.

Probably not a study but you should consider how much more kind society is to women who don't earn than to men who don't. Women are respected either way. Men are seen as less than worthless and people treat them cruelly. They get no respect, no relationships, and so on. Moreover, men are more prone to risk taking behavior which leads there to be more men on top but also more men at the bottom.

The more "equality" a country has, the more gender segregated the workplace becomes.

Statistically, people with low fetal testosterone exposure (mostly women) are more likely to prefer working with people. People with high fetal testosterone exposure (mostly men) are more likely to prefer working with things and systems.

Women are also much more likely to take part time jobs, which kills their pay/hr. Men are more likely to prioritize income over flexible hours and safe, pleasant working conditions.

As someone in grad school in a STEM field, I have seems countless more things that encourage women than discourage them. In fact, I have never seen a single instance of institutional discouragement towards women. Of course there are a few people who hold outdated views, or are awkward when working with women, but that is a personal issue (that should be addressed but it is a different problem). The schools themselves all have women in (insert field) programs, with special lounges, events, awards, etc. The things I mainly see women complain about are often just problems with being in grad school that everyone faces, and are not gendered issues at all. So in my anecdotal experience, women might face a few issues simply because they are women, but they also get many benefits, so in my mind it is a wash.

Well the wage gap per se has always been the feminist conspiracy theory that is used to attack men and characterize men as evil scheming assholes who love to oppress women (ie "the patriarchy") by secretly conspiring to pay women less money for the exact same work. It's backed up with the well known fraudulent 77% figure. So that's just hate speech that is.

You shouldn't conflate that with any serious question and so since you raised the 77 cents thing, i wont comment on the rest of what you said. Taking anything else you said seriously after the hateful myth making only goes to endorse the hate and make it seem legitimate which it is not.

The 77% figure is a deliberate fraud pushed on the American public by hate mongers.
