You know what I mean. All that shit you mentioned does nothing that just showing up wouldn't.

You've so far mentioned nothing that I can fuck.

... No. You need a six pack and an OKC profile. Plenty of older dudes can get with younger women. A lot of them just let themselves go.

You made one particular claim is what I mean. Not every claim in a philosophy has to be new for the philosophy to be so.

I've never seen anyone who matters on TRP saying that, nor has she ever contributed anything of value to the subreddit. He only qualification she even claims to have is that she's old and been around a while, but that kind of shit has never mattered on TRP.

If you don't have words then there's a good chance that you don't have any rational basis at all for your ideas.

RPWs and TRP men have incompatible views on how to be a red pill style male. RPWs seems to characterize it as a high beta who can lead and command some social status but is still very safe, and quite frankly low enough in value to sucker into marriage. He has a safe stem career and is fit for a relationship. Red pill men shit on that idea and just want to be alpha as fuck, and would probably consider the RPW man to be a bitch or a blue piller.

But that's one isolated bit.

I've been lifting for five years, but I don't think that's relevant to you. I think you're just taking a piss now because nobody agrees with you that closed mindedness towards the opposing view is good for discussion.

Before I was red pill, I was fully able to entertain a thought without accepting it and I was had a very good knowledge of TRP. Even ECs had told me that.

Trp has done, as I stated, what every generation has done: Stuck today's fashion on an old idea and pretended that they invented it. And again, no explanation why. Just a restatement that you hold a particular opinion. No argument, no contrary evidence, no anything. And do you know why blue pillers disagree with your assertion that trp is some shiny new evolutionary and revolutionary milestone? Because they've been trying to avoid that turd all their lives. Are you trying to say that TBP is a ne…

I could collect the best ideas from philosophers from the past X years and dump them together in my own way of life. Most red pill ideas do not come from past philosophers.

I have. I can explain feminist theory far better than feminists can explain red pill theory and I only even swallowed the red pill a week or two ago after considering myself blue pill for well over a year after finding out about it.

I already explicated this opinion in my OP. I wrote: Blue pill treats red pill as the embodiment of the patriarchy, the reminiscence of the 1800s, and the oppressive biases that they've heard about for their entire lives. They throw criticisms of that machine onto TRP, which don't fit the actual subreddit or its philosophy. I think this is very in line with your comment here and not a strawman. Leaving this comment like you did adds nothing to the discussion, because I already included the opini…

Depends what you mean by mature. They pass through puberty quicker, but I don't see how that's relevant here.

Feminists have a very high opinion of women. They thought that being taken off the pedestal would still mean being loved and respected, just for their individual unique accomplishments and merits. The fact that men who don't pedestalize them often think very lowly of women and see them as weak, lazy, and spoiled is a nasty shock. The fact that theories based on how weak and spoiled women are actually work for getting men laid is a real slap in the face.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/01/16 05:12 AM

I suppose it's also a respected feminist group providing these numbers and I could see why they'd want to end on a high note.

The argument I made is correct, and his is wrong. Have you never heard of fallacy of begging the question? Who says that your argument is right and his is wrong? You again? You're really resting a lot of shit on me just believing you that you know the theory.

According to who, you? People involved in Christianity tend to take his degree and years of commitment very seriously. Tell me, in what sense are you a red pill expert? Do you receive dozens of pms per week from RPers asking for advice because they trust your knowledge? Do you have a shit load of upvoted posts? Do you have ECs claiming that you know your shit? Hell, do you even have a delta? What exactly, other than your own high opinion of yourself, makes you think that you have even an impress…

You've become well known for proselytising TRP, not understanding it. You clearly have no idea how ECs work. What have you ever contributed to TRP?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/01/16 07:25 PM

It's a bit more upscale, also more triggery since the MRM is a degree less offensive than the red pill. Gotta be real careful about the rules though.
/r/MensRights04/01/16 07:32 AM

It's a political correctness contest between MRAs and feminists, thus the obviously-avoided generalizations here that would have gotten me banned from there.

It's a bunch of guys comparing notes and guessing, based on these trends, why some things appear to work and some things don't. Isn't that what a theory is?

He doesn't care about the moral aspect of it. He was posting about the factual aspects so he clearly cares about those.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/15 03:39 AM

Exactly. Every single response was off topic and just generic anti-rape rhetoric. Obviously CisWhiteMaelstrom is gonna be rape culture personified. Don't click the link if you don't want to see him. His username is well known.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/15 10:08 PM
7

I'm more blue than red but I'm not a bitch like these people are. His thread was very neutral considering the whole thing and he used it to advance a reasonable point of discussion about who rapists are. Do I agree? No. But the reaction was stupider than the post.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/15 09:51 PM
10

As far as I know, the red pill never promised moral guidance. CisWhiteMaelstrom's posts and comments on the red pill are unquestionably high quality by their standards and that's why he's endorsed. The fact that he hears about rape and his gut reaction is to learn and discuss rather than moralize might be despicable by most people's standards but it's fantastic for red pill thinking.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/15 09:40 PM
4

It's equally morally reprehensible but being morally reprehensible isn't a weakness for the red pill's position, whereas it's ruinous to feminism.

I did a write up once of 15,000 characters worth of sources for claims that MRAs and red pillers are concerned with. Due to the limits of a reddit post though, some are missing. Dakru also made a very good list. I'm more concerned with feminism though, since it's probably either the seed of all male issues or the barrier between men and equality. I wrote more about it here and here.

If red pill social dynamics are correct, then yes TBP is undeniably misogynistic for seeing women's biological imperative as thrust upon them. If red pill is wrong, then red pill is misogynistic for not seeing women's true potential.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/15 03:48 AM

It's just that they are more concerned with your surivival rather than absolute truth so favored by science. Don't most red pillers say that red pill isn't science? You guys certainly don't cite much science. We are fragile, comfort-seeking creatures with the capability of being very delusional. Always intellectualizing our emotions and whatnot. TRP deals with brutal, no-holds barred truth....or at least it tries to. Red pill has written a lot on emotion, particularly anger. Near as I can tell, …

But isn't it disingenuous to say that they don't create ideas? A lot of old timey PUA type shit, like cold approaching, is no longer really discussed. They're much more into fitness, and they're much much much more into politics. Plus, they openly shit talk PUAs, GLO in particular said that they're cringeworthy shadows of their former selves and has ridiculed them as "begging" women to have sex with them. Likewise, if you get laid often, you don't sit around thinking about how to spend your life pursuing the goal of getting laid. Hang on though, the "bills" and the "pursuing the goal" are two different things. "Pursuing the goal" is like having a career and rich people love to talk about and think about their career and how they do that. Ideally this should be correct. This is what I'm saying though, with sentiments like "men would just live in boxes if they weren't trying to impress women" they'…

RP is created outside of reddit, on the man-o-sphere blogs, its discussed on RP subs I browse TRP a lot to try and understand it, and I'd estimate that maybe one out of a hundred threads that get well upvoted will even reference, let alone exclusively or deeply discuss, an outside manosphere blog. I just took a quick skim at the top 25 posts of this month and there is literally not one mention. This is an extraordinarily unsubstantiated claim. Or did you just mean it for RPW?

Sex is like money: if you have it, you don't think about it. Yet they think all men are basing their whole lives around it like they are. If I've learned anything from watching Donald Trump, this is 100% false. Hell, even my engineer friends who are now hired and doing well are all about money. Most rich people work jobs they don't like, 50-60 hours per week, and do it while thinking of money. Rich people are absolutely obsessed with money. I don't have a link because it's not the kind of thing …

I'm a philosophy grad student. Charity is the single most important principle in philosophical discourse and it bothers me to see the blue pill throw it out the window. Plus, my rhetorical position has always been anti-narrative and it helps helps my rhetoric for there to be two equally plausible opposing narratives, namely TRP and feminism. Most of your movement are doing everything they can to emancipate themselves from TRP. I think that's a mistake of the MRM. I think we ought to speak to peo…

not necessarily, say that they decided to make a thread which they'd answer to to put forward their own agenda. what then? } If it's a good question and answer, I can't imagine what the problem would be. If it's a nonstop barrage of gotcha questions with 'witty' answers, then the mods would probably pick up on it and ban them.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/15 11:07 PM
1

But then all they're doing is projecting. Projecting what, specifically? But by saying men in general wouldn't do shit without sex as a motivator is just projecting themselves onto all men. I've heard people say that if doctors were paid like nurses, nobody would become a doctor. Doctors just seem to me like reasonably enticed and very motivated people though, and not like people who are desperate for money and who pedestalize nice cars.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/15 11:05 PM
1

I'm not sure what you mean by pedestaling. Can you try to offer your point of view without lingo so that I can see it more clearly?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/15 10:26 PM
1

Are they pedestalizing them? Do you see red pillers idolizing women, seeing that they can't do any wrong, and speaking unimaginably highly of them? I don't. I see red pillers seeing sex as an important means to their own happiness, pursuing it as such, and primarily valuing how it adds to their lives rather than how reds can improve the woman's life.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/15 10:23 PM

If you can't even tell it's a sockpuppet, then they're contributing meaningfully and it shouldn't matter.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/15 10:21 PM
1

Because they want sex. It's important to them. You can either play them game and be happy, or you can go MGTOW and not be happy but at least say that you didn't play. Since they play for themselves, and not to please women, they think that adds some legitimacy.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/15 10:20 PM
5

Inevitably, sockpuppets make such asses of themselves that they're gonna wind up banned. Just think back to that forwhomtheinceltrolls guy or strongalfalfa.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/15 08:35 PM

Don't see why you have to do either TRP is for people who've chosen to. You don't need to swallow TRP at all though.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/15 08:34 PM
1

I think TRP sees that as a lesser evil than being a miserable unsuccessful incel for no benefit other than to say they didn't pedestalize women. Also, I'm not doing anything; I'm not red pill. I'm just a firm believer in charitable explanations.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/15 07:20 PM
2

Because "Suzie from accounting" in particular is one person, who you're implicitly putting yourself below by working for. "Women in general" is just a goal and you're not pedestalizing any individual. You're just working for a goal and she's belittled as an interchangeable 'goal meeter.'

No, if we assume 23% of what a man does has to do with pussy. I'm not TRP though, so if you disagree with that then take it up with them. I thought TRP was against putting the pussy on a pedestal? From what I understand, it's about being happy and finding something that works. They 'put the pussy on a pedestal' so to speak, if it's the best way to accomplish their goals and they justify it by noting its instrumentalism. Yeah you are going to have to put up some examples. I browse TRP more than I want to admit and I hear that sentiment a lot. It's literally just the male disposability thesis. MRAs have the same concept. We wouldn't fight for men's rights, or in TRP's case spend hours PMing or skyping 'low value' men to help them become happier, if they we didn't value men. However, you can get it from this post that discusses Chad Thundercock. "He was an illustration of how fucking stupid women are in their choi…

I don't think much of this reflects TRP theory accurately. The alpha/beta dichotomy is a good place to start. TRP says it's a spectrum. TRP values men based off of their ability to have sex with attractive women No, TRP says that society does that and that society's valuing is critically important to men. Redpillers shit on men who are not "masculine" enough. From a red pill point of view, respecting masculinity like that IS respecting men. Whether that dehumanizes men is really just which ideol…

I work out and would say I'm in decent shape, which means when I'm out alone at night, I rarely ever fear for my safety. Many men know exactly what I mean. Most women have no idea what that feels like -- to go wherever you want in the world, at any time of day or night, and feel you won't have a problem. In fact, many women have the exact opposite experience. Men face far more violence than women so this simply does not make sense. My theory is that through feminism, we always tell women that th…

According to who's standard? The entire world's standard other than the MRM's. It seems like a false dichotomy to suggest that if you don't meet it whatever standard you're referring to that you might as well argue from ignorance? No, that's not at all what I said.
/r/MensRights01/11/15 01:27 PM

There's a significant difference between "not being a feminist" and "being an anti-feminist". I wouldn't object to someone who said "I'm not a feminist because I don't know much about it and don't see learning about it as worthwhile." To be considered knowledgeable about feminism, you need to get your PhD and publish work. If you do less than that then they won't shit on you if you support them but you won't be considered an authority. If you haven't make some serious headway in feminism and you…

What exactly do you think it means to fight pressures to be masculine? Do you think it means repealing an unjust law? Because no law actually forces you to be masculine. People act masculinely because it's rewarded. The man who stands up for himself, fights for something, and provides his strength will be rewarded for what he does. Fighting that pressure is trying to force people around the world to reward men who don't do those things, in the same way that they'd reward a man who does. Men who …

21.45% of couples reported violence. Male-to-female violence was reported in 13.66% of couples, while 18.20% for female-to-male violence. Thus, women are 1.33 times as likely to be violent. Yeah, it's a small movement that's facing a lot of barriers. For instance, we can't even openly identify as MRAs without being made into outcasts or without seeing feminist resistance. We're working on it. Quit blocking us and you'll see us showing up to help men.

No they aren't. As of right now, those men are just plain fucked which is why we need a men's rights movement. Not everyone gets the advantages that women do, especially the poor and disadvantaged.

That's not true. They're a group focused around a narrative of sexual strategy applied both to interpersonal and cultural interactions. It's fundamental to their narrative but we reject it entirely. But to them, men are advocated for and taken care of by the entire traditionalist system. They're not comparing the influence of feminism to the MRM, they're comparing the influence of feminism to the influence of "the patriarchy". That's why they're saying men are better advocated for and that women are "oppressed". Then they aren't looking at quantifiable evidence. Other than trivial bullshit like catcalling, there aren't any quantifiable instances of male privilege.

Here's a wild idea: Maybe The Rolling Stone wrote the report that way because that's actually what was going through their mind when they wrote it. Maybe Valenti is just redrawing the narrative to leave out the reason why her policies don't work and maybe the one giving bad information is partially responsible for the fiasco.

There is a lot of advantage to being white. There's no ingroup bias for males so male privilege is implausible in the absence of strong evidence but there is an ingroup bias for race. You don't think there's a middleground between being someone who automatically believes female accusers while trusting women with half their assets and being someone refuses to acknowledge anything they say or do? What ever happened to not trusting people with half your shit and a portion of your salary and not giving someone free reign in trial, but still generally seeing them as probably honest in most every day situations?
/r/MensRights08/04/15 05:21 AM

I didn't say anything contrary to this statement. I said it's not the case that we, in general and about most subjects, should view women with distrust based on the fact that some falsely accuse men of rape.
/r/MensRights08/04/15 04:54 AM

That's not really a good line of reasoning. Men commit crimes in groups relatively often and most women don't falsely accuse men of rape. Just like how rapists are a small minority in charge of a vast majority of rapes, false accusations are probably a small minority making up the vast majority of them.

Do you mean that women are less trustworthy than men or that the feminist maxim of believing the accuser if the accuser is a woman is wrong?

I do my best to avoid the topic of Red Pill while not in that mosh pit... However now that you brought it up. Correct me if I'm wrong but a significant aspect of red pill philosophy is both the existence and recognition of a distinction between overt power/speech/meaning that references it explicitly and covert power/speech/meaning that carries the meaning but maintains plausible deniability. Typically TRP associates the former with men and the latter with women but I think it applies to your co…

I don't disagree with you totally but I think you're overlooking different points of view. One point of view is the point of view of a father wanting to do the best job possible. From this point of view, I think it's not unreasonable to do some equivalent of "being a real fucking Dad and teach your children to hunt." That point of view is very accessible from subs like theredpill which focus on individual action and flourishing. The other point of view is the point of view of observing society f…

I actually think it's a bit deeper than that. It's feminism as a failed testable hypothesis. Feminism asserts that males are seen as more credible, more trustworthy, more authoritative, that men will respect the words spoken "man to man" better than they'll respect a woman's word, that they are seen as not-self serving etc. They have been taught ever since they swallowed feminism that they're male then we'll take them seriously. They genuinely believe that it's a trump card in the debate and our…

It's not the techniques Stewart uses. It's the familiarity with the audience. With party guests or dinner party guests, other people have either known me for a while or at least for an hour or so. In that time, I usually do well at gaining the respect and authority that I need to present arguments effectively. With Jon Stewart, even if guest get to meet him before hand (I have no idea if they do) then it doesn't matter. The audience has never met me and would read my words totally differently. I…

Before the discussion gets very far, someone says,"you know what really gets me about false rape allegations? The next time some woman is raped, people will think she is making it up." "The way to prevent that isn't by lowering the standards of evidence. Low standards of evidence feed skepticism by giving rational observers all the necessary tools to doubt. What we need instead is to hold the accusers to a standard that will satisfy reasonable skeptics. If accusers are generally found to be real…

Self harm and feelings are mostly feminist issues that they push onto men. The talk about suicide here has nothing to do with the causes such as alimony and other injustices. The proximity to feelings makes it seem a lot more like it's framed as a 'boys should talk about their feelings' frame which isn't helpful or accurate.

Because letting alternative views out of the bag will absolutely destroy them. I those views are good, feminism's destroyed. If they aren't good, it's like what other religions do when compared with Christianity and introduce equally viable alternatives. The real issue is that it begins at a young age. There's a strong correlation between how you're treated in elementary school at the age of five and how you'll do in school later. Here are a couple studies about boys really getting the short end of the stick. 1 2 And then you're friend's question becomes about 5 year olds taking accountability for a system that's not to permissive of them. I don't feel comfortable putting our nation's future in the hands of five year old. I think the institution…

The feminist assertion is that men feel entitled to women's bodies. Ask for evidence. They'll give you the 1-in-5. Respond by pointing out that the study found the same number of made-to-penetrates as rape (figures 2.1 and 2.2) and that the two are defined identically. Then, point out that rape is not nearly that common if you use better sampling methods (check CHS's video on the 1-in-5 survey) and more standard definitions of rape. Mind reading is unnecessary. You can address the content of what is said independently. As I said, what you did is also mind reading so I'm not sure which high ground you're trying to take here. Plus I offered a justification, which you chose to ignore Being rational is also useful. I never said otherwise. Darn it, why can't everybody just be rational like me. I could never understand that. That's very cherry picked. Read the rest of the section. It describes how many variables are easy for them to account for, leaving 4.8%-7.1%, and then lists a shit load more variables in the next paragraph that are not included, finishes by describing why estimates show that, at the very least, it's likely that the variables account for the wage gap, and then the section finishes on a positive note saying that it's quite possible that there's no unaccounted for gap.

The accountability gap. Women's actions are given less weight, less significance, less notability than male actions. In cases of negatively perceived actions, this is a privilege. I'm also not sure it occurs during positively perceived ones. Women who accomplish things are hailed as heroes and role models even if men do it all the time (ie being an engineer). I play chess and people respect GM Judit Polgar way more than anyone else who got to #8 in the world and many more people know of GM Hou Y…

Weird choice of words. Get kicked out of feminism? Obviously he means kicked out of any established feminist community. Internet communities are notorious for bans. CHS and Warren Farrell are examples of it happening in institutional feminism.

It makes as much sense to say that feminists are anti-equality as it does to say that MRAs are pro-hate. Of course it does. There are obvious instances of feminists actively fighting men's rights and equality. There are no instances of the men's rights movement doing this. We also only criticize feminists fairly, by pointing out flaws in their arguments with sources. They do it unfairly, by running smear campaigns with bad information and censorship.

Yea, we know what would happen. But it would be a good learning experience for the OP so that she can better understand the "Feminism" that leads most MRA to be "Anti-Feminism". Okay but she deserves a warning before being ousted by her community. It's not exactly the kind of thing we should just spring on people without waring.

Of course, but it's totally disingenuous to object to the idea that the "shaming" was primarily men-on-men injustice by pointing to the white feather movement as having had a larger role. It had A role. Do you think there's no causal force between men-on-men injustice and feathering? Today we see men posting on AMR. Men respond to what they believe women to need and in the case of feathering, feminists made damn sure to assert that what women need was men at war. The motives that led hundreds of…

I think that any way to brand this as misogyny really warps the term. Within the context of their narrative, the women never had a chance so it's not really disrespectful. It's like how we can still think Han Solo was a bit of a badass despite getting caught and frozen in carbonite. The cards were just stacked against him and to think he needed help from his friends to get out is not disrespect. Nahh. A lot of this sort of thinking is caused by people who think large scale social constructs and psychoanalytic leanings cause these issues. They don't (at least not overtly) believe that boys are inherently evil but rather that males are subject to larger cultural forces which influence them to be XYZ and females are subject to larger cultural forces that causes them to be helpless. They avoid calling it hateful by taking individual accountability out of the equation.

By subscribing to anti-feminism and anger towards them you are already giving the movement power. Both over yourself and society in general. You dilute your own arguments by getting emotional, and the public will view you as raging misogynists. Not true. It's exposing that feminism already has power. "We don't just want equality within these oppressive systems. We want to overthrow the systems." There you have it folks, no matter what data you show feminists that proves they aren't behind, they will still remain feminists. Facts are literally not what they're after, but rather they're after overthrowing false narratives that they themselves created.

As a man you don't get the privilege of being upset about this. I'm not joking; you really don't. If you take this angst anywhere then you'll be fucked. Your best bet is to be stoic and strong. Women have enormous advantages but you can still outcompete them. Men in general might not be able to but you can. Lift, study hard, talk to all of your professors regularly and know them well. Apply to more grad schools and apply to more jobs (to win the numbers game). Be the best man you can be.

Well, its no surprise to feminists that men out-earn women, and that women's careers are put on hold to support men's. If you actually cared about that statistic, there'd be a greater push for men to be stay-at-home parents and the primary caretaker in relationships. Men out earn women because of the choices they make, not because of discrimination. A lot of men make those unpleasant choices (hard field, 50+ hours working, few sick days, few vacation days, etc) so that their wives can have it ni…

Studies copying the methods of the 1 in 5 stat normally fine 1 in 5, 1 in 4, or 1 in 3. It's just that the methods are really bad. They use a non-standard definition of rape and they use a phone survey that's likely to attract only those with a story to tell. Moreover, figures 2.1 and 2.2 of that study show just as many made-to-penetrates as rape, but the study's biased so it defines them out of being rape.

You're not making any sense. If we're not talking about rights that women generally want, it's believed that they ought to have, or that comparable groups have and they do not, then why not just say "the right to a free spaceship from the government" ? What it leads to is a kind of repression where you mold your identity to what the feminists want it to be. You need to be soft, gentle, giving, you cannot ask for your own benefit. You ne…

I spent most of my life believing that men were the privileged class and even that the patriarchy was a thing. I eventually got away from that but I had always heard MRAs were the devil and I bought it. It literally took me years to defect completely. A lot of it was done via sending throwaways here to argue but at the end of the day, you guys had better sources so I had to be honest with myself.

That's not the way to think of these hate mongers. Yes even nazis are people too and all that, and yes every criminal beleives in their own innocence a lot of the time, but fundamentally they also know what they are doing is evil, or they wouldn't have to lie about it all the time. This is called "double think". The ability to hold two contradictory concepts in your mind at once. To believe in your own innocence while cooking up the lies and cheating you need to get done. It's not ignorance and …

Men’s rights activists, pick-up artists, and your garden-variety garbage Internet trolls were posing as deranged feminists to try and trick political activists into embarrassing themselves with fake hashtags. Phew, they're no longer conflating us with PUAs. This is actually one of the nicer things these sorts of sources tend to say about MRAs all things considered. But seriously, isn't SRS already far more loved by the admins than mensrights? Isn't tumblr insanely feminist? Didn't 4chan get take…

Yes, but that does prove that you can make a post critical enough to get deleted without it getting you in trouble. It's not a sub committed to free speech, but you won't be banned for being critical. But remember, those constraints literally are the absolute best way we have to talk to feminists.

Bigot's probably not the right word. Our opposers have done a very good job at censoring us so far. They probably legitimately believe that we're like that and that men don't have real issues. Feminism's seen as the golden god of goodness by virtually everyone; nobody suspects them of censoring a perfectly fine group.

But there are feminists of every faction saying this. Historically, the suffragettes weren't far off. They did bombings and everything. In academia there are fuckheads like Andrea Dworkin. In empirical research there's Mary Koss. And in your typical every day feminists, there are fuckheads like this. Whether or not it's all feminists doesn't matter. The point where I said we should not allow anti-MRA damseling feminists to intrude into our threads and, deservedly or not, draw the types of responses that are fodder for their corporate nannying. Doesn't matter. Of course it does. It makes us unlikely to be targeted by a harassment initiative. Intel just committed $750 million to the cause of damseling feminist women, on the basis that a couple isolated females recently had their feelings hurt online. Admittedly, this had nothing to do with the /r/mensrights sub, but that hasn't stopped damseling feminists and journalists from using /r/mensrights as well as other MRA websites as bogeymen. I don't see how being aggressive will make one the victim and it's completely irrelevant who's doing the victimizing. Nobody's ever said, "Well, at least I was assaulted by a member of my own gender." Also, I don't actually know of any evidence that women are less aggressive than men. A common criterion for if a theory is scientific is not if it can be verified but if it can be falsified. I think that might inform your perspective. If all someone looks for is verification, they'll ask each other things like if patriarchy can explain how many more men are imprisoned and then, if they find it can answer it, they say they verified it again. Won't work here. The patriarchy narrative can be stretched to explain absolutely anything. I go into it in the second half of my post.

Yeah, we often see a very biased worldview here because we look for it. The facts we look at are generally verified by studies and things, so I'm not claiming that's the bias. However, we see tons of gender related articles, read statements from people interested in gender, and look for gender news articles. It makes it look like the whole world is interested in feminism, men's rights, sexism, and so on. In reality, it's not. Most feminists are people who've never even heard the word "patriarchy…

Won't affect us at all. Staying to your subreddit will not be considered harassment. Moreover, admins can easily tell if people are actually sending harassing PMs. Those PMs are largely myths so they won't get a critical number of them from MRAs. We do care about victim rights but we also care about the rights of the accused. Fortunately, the solution is the same for both issues: due process. Trial by media, always believing the victim, and always assuming the accused are guilty helps no one.

Feminists tend to do this a lot, just turn around an accusation as if the only thing going for an accusation is the accusation itself, as if evidence is simply unimportant. This is actually a critical part of their ideology. Remember, feminism isn't the theory that women are disadvantaged in certain way and those ways ought to be amended. Feminism is the theory that women are actually the oppressed class. Merely by presenting evidence and advocacy for serious men's issues, we're inadvertently ch…

This is true for me too. I have no idea what it is, but initially there's something about feminism that just makes it into something you don't want to criticize or find flaws in. It's just so easy to overlook and support uncritically.

No straw, just new information. I had been a feminist for my entire life and had always heard that I was privileged and they were oppressed. I totally bought it because their observations about cat calling, women being less likely to speak up, and so on seemed to ring true. Since I didn't know men's issues exist, I assumed those were the big gender issues of today. After that, I did some research. Empirical data does not spell out a happy picture for men. Men's issues are really life threatening…

Rejecting a sibling is fine, having a partner is fine. Rejecting a sibling and simultaneously having a partner is fine. Rejecting a sibling and then trying to replace them with a partner is idiotic and will never end well. Siblings and partners don't typically fulfill the same goals or purposes within an individual's life.

My sister's the same way. We absolutely hate each other now. We went from going out and drinking together to just pure hatred. It won't get the result you want but I'd steer the course and keep presenting facts. There's something did disconserning about doing anything else. Avoiding the fight all together is probably best but I've never met a feminist who didn't love to bring it up, and letting someone have that abusive power play of being the sole person allowed to voice their viewpoint, and vo…

We focus on issues affecting men disproportionately. Many of these affect a certain race of men most. For instance, discrimination against men in court disproportionately affects black men. We don't worry about the race though and just worry about the issue. If we do well in solving it, men of each race will benefit.
/r/MensRights26/01/15 03:25 AM

but even so you dont need any data or knowledge to disprove the wage gap, the entire thing is total shit anyway. For any issue, if you're not using data and knowledge then you're not addressing it correctly.
/r/MensRights26/01/15 02:57 AM
1

That's not the reason usually given for the wage gap being a myth. The usual reason given in that it's actually due to women's choices and that if she makes the same choices as a man, she'll have the same compensation.

There are a few flaws here. First, you didn't include any sources. I have no idea where these numbers came from. Second, you fail to account for certain things such as that if a woman is getting child support then she has children and the man does not, which to a degree offsets the issue. That being said, this is especially interesting with respect to this study which shows that the wage gap comes down to personal choices rather than discrimination.

1) Why do you seem to spend do long bashing feminism? Feminism is currently the dominant narrative for understanding gender in America. It shapes perceptions on gender and drastically affects how problems get solved or if they get solved at all. The patriarchy paradigm which has always dominated feminism casts men as the privileged class, suffering from sexism only when sexism against women backfires. From this view, it's nearly impossible to advocate for actual men's issues. Because of that, we…

Not giving women the vote is obviously not the right solution but he did make an accurate position. The MRM exists because he did in fact nail it. The govt could call them to get drafted and die at any moment, so men were given a say in who was there to make the call. Anti-suffragettes were acting on the premise, not that women sho…

Every civil rights movement gets a pushback from the alleged oppressors, and that's what I see here. And this is what I see when I look on AMR. I think it's more Quinean. Quine was a philosopher who presented the idea of a web of belief. He thought our beliefs were shaped such that we have the core ideas at the center which are nearly impossible to change and softer ones being based on them closer to the outside, seeing our world in terms of the stuff at the center of the web of belief. Feminists will dismiss everything as "yeah but the patriarchy". Personally, I think the patriarchy is susceptible only to philosophical arguments about the fundamental nature of narratives, since any empirical fact will be subsumed. After all, the patriarchy has got to be the most elastic theory in the universe. Sometimes the point of sharing a study isn't to respond to them though. Sometimes you're just building knowledge, awareness, and your own case for your own purposes.

It's not a fix. It makes it much less accurate. They're interchangeable in all contexts in which we worry about the meaning of the word while keeping it abstracted such that it lacks a rigid denotation, which is the way people ordinarily examine what words mean for the purposes of things like dictionaries or to be used in analyses found in scientific, mathematical, or philosophical work.

Toxic masculinity is a bullshit concept. It's the name for men doing things feminists disapprove of. It's what let's women say things like "Men are violent" while pretending not to sound sexist. My position is that we can't just change the name because what we call things is fundamentally entwined with how we reason about them. I cited philosophers who agree with me and a scientific hypothesis that's still controversial as support for my claim. Changing a name changes how we think about things and thus changes must be argued for and meaningful rather than just arbitrary. Resetting the names is also a bad plan because that loses all the argumentative and conceptual groundwork we've done.

Why on Earth would you have thought I wanted to agree that everyone on Earth thinks that whatever we think or say corresponds with the real world? Go back and read my posts, I never once argued for that position. In fact, I was pretty damn clear about which position I was arguing for. If you didn't edit it, then I have no idea why you would have even wr…

I will grant you that throughout all history every human mind has been persuaded that the constitution of a thing changes with a change in its name, and that for all the future stretching into eternity every human mind will be so persuaded. Did you just edit this now? All of my comments have been about how we reason. I didn't say a damn thing about things in themselves, only how we conceptualize them. It doesn't make any sense that you would have said, "Ok make you a deal, let's agree to somethi…

Did racism vanish as we moved from nigger to negro to black to African American and then back to black, along with whatever other fluff filled in the gaps? I think you can make a pretty solid case that people think more highly of blacks than "niggers" and that one term confers much more respect and much less racism than the next. Racism still exists but not because of the term black and it doesn't obviously manifest in the term black. A rose by any other name, don't ya know. This proverb really …

I'm going to have to leave it there. I'm simply not hard wired to understand that. I'm sorry. Then why'd you say it? I commented about how we work. I didn't give any theory of truth. Okay, STILL pressing you for which claims from Plato, Descartes, and Quine that you're referring to. You're just amplifying "we're wired to do so" into "it's part of our psychology and just part of how we think" and then restating the argument without showing how it follows. Philosophers and scientists theorize that how we use language and what we call things is necessarily related to how we reason about them. This is what I mean by "wired" or "it's part of our psychology". It's suggested to be …

First, I'm still pressing for which of Plato, Descartes, and Quine's claims you referring to. Now, which of Plato, Descartes, or Quine's claims were you referring to?

No. I'm not suggesting a name change so that we see things differently. Where did you get that from? "It is thought, wrongly, that by giving cs a new name, n1, say, they will no longer attract the opprobrium attached to n. This is true initially, but only initially. In the fullness of time, the opprobrium directed towards cs comes to attach to n1. It is therefore necessary to scorn all those using n1 as instruments of the dark forces of all that is evil, predatory, inhuman, and inimical to peace…

I can't possibly argue against those luminaries in the philosophic pantheon. But then neither can you argue against Plato, Descartes Which claims by Plato and Descartes are you referring to? Quine Quine in particular felt that reasoning and language were tied together. He based a large chunk of his attack on Kant's analytic synthetic distinction on this. This is a narrative, not an verifiable set of observations. It might seem, or even be, internally coherent but there's no reason from an external standpoint to adopt this idea. The simpler and less mental-gymnastics-esque way to phrase the issue is that sexist discrimination against men comes from sexism against men. Besides, it's pretty easy to frame women's issues as men's issues too, as Karen straughan does.

This seems wrong. Which words we use to refer to things have a strong effect on how we reason about them and conceptualize them. That's the reason why refusing to refer to their victims as 'people' was such a successful tactic for people like Hitler. Many philosophers of language going back at least as far as George Berkeley, Kant, and especially as far back as the young Wittgenstein have theorized that language is really a mirror of how we reason and think, having an enormous effect on how we s…

While I can agree there's a scotsman thing going on here, I think it does matter that there are boundaries of what's defined as feminism. We have to have some definition. There's a critical distinction to draw though. There's what we know based off of common sense and there's what we can claim a study to cite. I meant to say that they can claim that which sex your attracted to is biological but which gender your attracted to is socially constructed, as is the actual appearance of that sex. Maybe it makes sense for gender feminists to say that biology determines what genitalia you find…

Not a significant flaw. We're sexually attracted to sex, not gender. It's only that our preferences are socially constructed---unless it's a woman, in that case it's just gravy.

This is horribly incomprehensible I hope you know that. I think it's very clear. Read it again. What are you talking about? You aren't making sense. You said women arent like that, but what aren't they like? They aren't like what someone would have meant if that someone had sarcastically claimed that most women are realistic and down to Earth. You even say "most of them aren't like that". Aren't like what? Aren't like the thing I would have meant if my comment that most of them are not down to earth and realistic was made sarcastically. No one said what women were like, but you're already telling us they aren't like it. Taking my comment as sarcastic does denote a very particular meaning and that meaning is a claim of what women are like. Well it's official, there are absolutely no real problems anywhere in existence to report on. The biggest and deepest issue going on is that men sit a certain way on the subway. I don't think it's mostly male victims. Girls bully each other too, just differently. Moreover, this is one of the few issues where people do stand in. Virtually every school has anti-bullying policies and many cities or states have it in legal code.

If you're engaging someone else on their ideas rather than being the one presenting your own views then I'd keep a similar approach but turn it towards questions. If there seems to be a suppressed assumption then ask her about the statement which it underlies. If she gives the assumption, ask why she has it. If not, keep asking until you get whatever assumption she used. When you get the assumption, ask another question that's a bit more critical but keep a tone of real curiosity. Eventually, sh…

Do you believe that the state should step in and make up the income difference? No, it's based on his choice or her choice. Some women are truly opossed morally to abortion fir themselves. I think it should be a woman's biological advantage to be able to choose whether or not the kid is born by virtue of her carrying it but I think men should have the right to walk away while she's pregnant without having any responsibilities to the kid if it's the case that she could abort if she wants to. why are they so uninformed? It's a bit of reading but if we're sticking with the "people aren't just plain evil" theory then I think this is the best explanation. Some people come up with these theories that all feminists all hate men, they’re trying to fight for their superiority. I guess there's a suppressed premise of my argument. I think everything comes down to intuition. Why do we value scientific information? Because there's intuitive force to the claim that scientific evidence leads to truth. Why do we value gender equality? Because there's intuitive force to the claim that it is a moral prerogative. This comes with a flat rejection of your claim that intuition is a vague term which covers up something wholly irrational. Intuition is simply thinking. It's when you …

No, but it has a lot of bearing on its believability and those things can be functionally identical. If the speaker presents themselves a certain way then people will naturally go look for a flaw in whatever it is they said and since most arguments have some flaw, they will find it and latch onto that flaw. Hey, Welcome to men's rights but this really isn't what we do here. We don't speculate on "true human nature" or rationalize injustice with the pendulum. We're not into these abstract concepts. We just want shit fixed. Abstract ideas are very hard to prove the objectivity of or be taken seriously when asserting. Facts and statistics are not. I do hope you stick around though. I don't think this has been supported by what I've seen at least. I think the recent push to always believe the victim is a cry for kangaroo courts and I think it's mutually exclusive with quality investigations. How come when feminists say "women have to deal with rape?" the common MRA response is never "Well we actually get raped more often than women but we also get falsely accused." ? I feel like that's a way better response than "I care about both." It seems more legitimate and credible since it gains access to their standpoint and even ousts them out of it.

And it's not an argument that this is (unfortunately) accepted sociological jargon and contextually true. If that were the case, you'd have to ask why it's so important for them to say it out of academic contexts. Why is it such a big deal not to use the word 'sexism' as it's actually used? The reason is that words actually matter and they're trying to disarm half the population such that half the population has absolutely no voice.

She's saying that she considers herself a feminist because she thinks what she does, advocating for men, is more consistent with what was considered feminism when she was a kid. Moreover, she says she finds it amusing that it pisses off contemporary feminists when she calls herself a feminist. Seriously though, can you find one single source where she's advocating for women instead of men? I don't mean merely advocating that some women's issues still e…

She doesn't believe women are more oppressed than men. Go read Who Stole Feminism or watch her YouTube lectures. Her entire career is based on dispelling the myth that women are more oppressed than men. I literally cannot figure out how you could possibly form your current beliefs. And insider doesn't get her credibility with feminishts . it gets her credibility with third parties.

The feminists I know love men. They don’t want them to be injured on the job, get assaulted, restricted from seeing their children, be homeless or die young. <Cough>

How the hell do you expect to get customers to pay that much?
/r/MensRights28/12/14 08:10 PM

Because we're not feminists.

But if they were to go through with your idea then they'd be guaranteed to lose money. I don't see what's so hard about this.
/r/MensRights28/12/14 07:58 PM

I would guess that selling a product that's guaranteed to lose money is already breaking the rules for how to run a business.

Making it such that your business loses money isn't fixing the disparity.

The intermediate value theorem says those lines can be connected and that f(a) and f(b) will take up the interval between them. It doesn't say that where they'll be connected will be at a point that's both affordable and profitable.

Why do you think there even exists a middle that is low enough to attract customers and high enough to attract drivers?

It allows her to (kind of) speak as an insider which does a lot for credibility.

But then they'd have to charge customers ridiculous amounts for a cab ride. A cab ride where I'm from already often goes to about $20.00. I could easily imagine this version going up to $100.00. Who'd pay it?

I disagree. I think it's because so much of feminist theory is predicated on male privilege and men winning the gender lottery. If men need their own spaces or are seen as having gender related problems, feminist theory is in trouble.

I like to argue only in ways such that my points would be accessible even from different points of view.

1) I missed the part where you presented statistics to support you're argument. 3) Places on bar rescue and kitchen nightmares aren't typical. They're atypicalbin the other direction. Moreover, it's not like large national chains are known for being awesome to wait at.besides, I don't see why the restaurant failing would disproportionately affect ect one gender.

It's not honest to say argue from the standpoint of us being the only honest ones. It's fine to suspect it and investigate the situation from there by not to assume it as a premise.

She deserves it too. Even regardless of her fighting for something I support, she took a huge career risk out of an ethical perogotive, did unique original research that nobody wanted her to do, the risk wen poorly for her and she ended up at the american enterprise institute which isn't really where you ideally want to work, and then she continued to fight for what she believes in and do great work. If I didn't know what she'd fought for then i 'd respect her just off the abstract.

Making it secretive like this would harm the poll's credibility evenif it were accurate. I think it'd be better to take a more public path but publically limit who can contribute. We'd still never get representative samples of mras in general but we could potentially get very credible stats for the top contributors or the the top contributors of a given month by using some of the methods you describe.

To be fair, if they went after any other right then people could point out that they already have them, and with some rights people would point out that they're the only ones who have them. This is the most reasonable thing they could be doing right now and it might not be fair for MRAs to criticize people for being as reasonable as they could reasonably be expected to be.

Eh. Etymology isn't nearly as good of a definition of words as how they're used and while obviously my point of view is that feminism isn't used to denote equality, it'd be dishonest of me to say there isn't contention.

Why the hell is it even the case that there's a discussion to be had about whether or not 50% of the population needs the other 50%?

I prefer not to introduce a narrative to explain it. Given a set of facts, it's not clear how to go about piecing it into a story such that the story is objectively true. Using the same set of facts, you can tell a story of a patriarchy, a matriarchy, a cat-triarchy, a dog-triarchy, shoving neckbeards into science, or whatever. I think a better approach is to just look at the measurable barriers that men and women face. Currently, women face fewer barriers. Thus, if there's a gap, it's not due t…

Even more perverse is that we're considered the foul ones. It's not even just that these are popular positions and with a majority of support in debate. It's that their so popular that you're considered a crazy misogynist for speaking out against it.

And here comes the kicker. Feminists are angry women do not get raped a lot. Right? I would think that evidence that women aren't getting raped very often would make feminists happy.

Isn't it ironic how feminists say men feel entitled to get away with doing XYZ because of male privilege and then do shit like this and expect to get away with it?

Her story, let’s not forget, had changed from being forced to perform oral sex on five men to being vaginally raped by seven men, punched in the face, and cut on shattered glass. This is the scariest part for me. This is how belligerently idiotic a woman has to be to get caught in a rape lie, and people will still rally to her. That's fucking terrifying. 8% is already a lot of false rapes relative to the conviction rate under 40%, but this really makes me think it's just gotta be an enormous num…
