Karen Keller of Captain Johnston Blakely Elementary on Bainbridge Island, Washington is discriminating against boys in her classroom and denying them access to legos:

Keller stated that boys always ask to play with Legos but she treats them as girls only to try to get girls to use them: “I always tell the boys, ‘You’re going to have a turn ’ — and I’m like, ‘Yeah, when hell freezes over’ in my head. I tell them, ‘You’ll have a turn’ because I don’t want them to feel bad.”

Putting aside the constant false statements made to the children, Keller insists that she has greater objectives in mind than equality or honesty.

These boys do feel bad, because they will quickly learn that their teacher is not being truthful with them and is discriminating against them on the basis of their sex.

I am concerned that her statement "when hell freezes over" suggests a misandrist motivation to discriminate against boys.

This appears to me to be a gross violation of the civil rights of these boys to nondiscrimination on the basis of gender for educational programs under Title IX.

As you are aware "[Title IX] addresses sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination", "Title IX does not apply to female students only." and "Your school must be proactive in ensuring that your campus is free of sex discrimination."

The appearance that these policies of discrimination are long standing and may have the tacit support of the administration suggests that the staff of Captain Johnston Blakely Elementary has failed in its statutory duties to be proactive in protecting the civil rights of these boys to nondiscrimination.

This appears to me to have created a hostile and misandrist environment where lies and discrimination are permitted against defenseless kindergarten boys.

I urge the Office of Civil Rights to investigate the appearance of a culture of misandry and discrimination at Captain Johnston Blakely Elementary.
