The hrc leave me feeling sick. One of their key roles is to stop discrimination of people from care based on gender.

Men are largely excluded from care as victims of dv. They know this but don't act.

They are on the wrong side of history on this issue and I hope in 20 years we are looking on this as scornfully as we currently do the histrionic exclusion of women from post secondary education.

I in 3 women in New Zealand will experience violence over her lifetime, hence the name of this app.

So two thirds of all NZ women actually live their entire lives without ever experiencing any violence at all. I wonder how boys and men do in that regard.

I love this statement

We all understand what physical violence looks like but far more damaging over time are the other forms

It should have ended with "but only when it happens to women because when it happens to men, then only physical violence is important and since men are bigger they are capable of inflicting more physical damage"

Family violence is not a series of isolated incidents affecting an individual victim.

I find this extraordinary. What they are saying if that if a woman starts bitching at her husband and he gives her a well deserved black eye, it wouldn't be domestic violence because it was a one-off, provoked event, not a pattern of abusive control.

I happen to agree with this. What I find extraordinarily is they do - when they are counting statistic for domestic violence to come up with "1 in 3" figures, do you think they would include or exclude the example I gave?
