I think it would be helpful if you had a particular counter-example of a male in that kind of position and public reaction going negatively for him.

I could potentially see that happening, but without a case-study for comparison it's exists only in potential. And Christ, if we're going to get uppity about potential grievances, then we'd start doing the kinds of things we enjoy making fun of in the most ridiculous of the feminists.

In my opinion, and hopefully others agree: The issue isn't that it is wrong for them to back her, the issue is that it may be a double standard. I applaud the hospital for supporting their employee and I wish that same courtesy be applied to anyone in a similar situation, regardless of gender.

You've got no proof of preferential treatment.

Meanwhile, here's a recent example of a women being fired for doing something similar. Well, actually, for doing something much less controversial:

Both of these cases are just that -- individual cases. They don't prove anything with regard to gender.

If he were a male, no one would care and the hospital who would give the same "why are you even asking me this?" response.
