Notice the the program is called "male studies," not, "mens studies." We don't call women's studies programs "female studies." The term "male studies" is used to weaken the emphasis on manhood, I betcha, as if there is something wrong with being a man.

I will be in charge of teaching the "Male Form in Contemporary Photography" class, please. But seriously, this is really great. Men's issues do get ignored or dismissed far too easily and frequently, including many times by men.

As one of the commenters on r/equality mentioned, I would rather see "gender studies" than either "women's studies" or "men's studies", because a large part of society is how the two interact with each other. I could see studies of either gender being more of a focus within that department, rather than separate departments of their own.

That said, this appears to be a step in the right direction for equality.

Women's studies and "Male Studies" are equally bereft of any academic value.

Ridiculous, a laughing stock and the reason the Humanities keep losing funding.

Dopiest thing I've ever heard. I really don't think there'll be alot of enrollees in this course no matter which college picks it up. If they do. Men go to college to get a better job, not to fill up time until they can find a spouse.

This is as stupid as women's studies. The copy-whatever-feminists-come-up-with and insert "male" for "female" approach to men's rights is utterly inane.
