The records released by the school district also show that two employees said they considered the Sept. 29 incident a joke, that the boy didn't seem to mind it and that he laughed about it.

You just don't know. Was the boy really having fun, or was he trying to laugh it off?

Where's the sexual harassment suit? If a male teacher paraded a girl around while referring to her with mens names you know there would be one. Probably be branded a paedophile too.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?? We all complain about people being pussies, taking shit too far, milking the system, etc...and now you all go and say the same shit and really, none of us know the full story. Bunch of fuckin hypocrites.

It sounds more to me like the student was fucking around and playing up to the joke, then went home and told mommy who didn't quite care for it and started bitching. The kid will most likely then follow mom's lead. The same mom who then filed a lawsuit. $$$ cha-ching. And the part where it said the kid cried in the bathroom could have been true. But it also could have been a lie coached out of the kid. We don't know what really happened, but c'mon people...felony charges and suing the school for a kid's hair getting put in a ponytail?!?! That's totally fuckin absurd! Maybe the school should have suspended the student for violating dress code by having long hair in the first place. Would that make all of you happy then?

I'm not exactly sure what to make of this story - or rather stories.

From the teachers' side, it looks like just bit of gender-bending fun that the boy himself enjoyed (which I basically see as a good thing, as rigid gender stereotypes negatively impact people of both genders).

On the other hand, if the boy's mother's story is accurate, this sounds like an inexcusably traumatic experience for the boy - especially if the teachers' intention was actually to humiliate him.

So I'm at bit of a loss here.

Also, I'm trying to figure out which of his constitutional rights is alleged to have been violated. Thoughts anyone?

People need to grow thicker skins - this sounds like the mother is trying to fleece the school for money, and the teachers and the other kids said the kid went along with it and everyone thought it was a joke.

Threads like this are why America sucks now - everyone's too easily offended, chill out.
