Its funny to me that a subreddit ostensibly devoted to men's rights would knock a very positive move forward. We should be encouraging this.

The "provider" and "head of the house" role assigned to men is as damaging as the stereotypes assigned to women.

This subreddit should be about embracing equal rights and equal responsibility - and that means making room for all the diverse individuals who make up both sexes.

Why shouldn't men take women's names ? Marriage should now be a real partnership where neither party is beholden to support the other, taking the woman's last name is a symbolic acknowledgment that the male is no longer the "head" of the household - and thus not bound by tradition (stupid, defunct tradition) to be the bread winner any more than his parter is.
