Actually no. There is no other crime in which the real victims distress and loss is discounted in favour of theoretical/potential other victims of other crimes. And it is not disregarding victims of rape to acknowledge the real victims of false allegations.

I personally lost two of my children apparently permanently, years out of my relationships with the others, my partner, most of my friends, every dollar I had saved plus three hundred thousand more, most of my sleep for about four years. I suffered spectacular blows to my sense of self and my sexuality and many years later my income is still about 20 percent lower still that it would have been and my savings will never recover. I live with the background fear that the state sponsored abuse could restart at any time.

Almost every time I speak about this to anyone the response is that its terrible because it undermines real victims of rape.

pfft. I wish i was only raped.

Imagine opening up to someone about the destruction in your life caused by years of incarceration for a bank fraud that you were falsely accused of by a bank and being told that your story is a great shame because it undermines banks with no hint of irony or sympathy.

The title expresses the problem correctly.
