I don't even want to go back into that comment section tbh, half of the comments are focused on calling out the mom for continuing to call him a she, which I'm okay with, but the other half of the comments are just as ignorant about circumcision as the one you highlighted here, trying to justify it and saying that it's necessary and nobody's even questioning it. It's disgusting.

I've asked this question in this sub myself. The response I got is that they are totally different organs and that piercing the ears doesn't cause damage to hearing like circumcision can cause to the sexual property of the penis.

That once sentence had all the double standards, apparently a girls ear lobes are more important than a boys foreskin, even though ear piercings can heal over and foreskin doesn't(Not to mention all the unnecessary risks with the latter).

And no, its not done for hygienic reasons. The overwhelming bulk is for tradition, religion or supposed reduced HIV rates in Africa(this varies).
