I’m not trying to be negative, and I really hope I’m wrong, but I really hope this isn’t another “the violence against you was actually your fault” study.

I participated in a study here in the US and I would say conservatively that 80% of the questions were somehow putting the violence back on me.

“Did your partner feel physically threatened by you when the alleged assault took place?”

“How do you feel your greater size/strength played into the alleged assault?”

The “resources” they offered were almost entirely women focused.

If this is not the same I am truly happy and hope it can be a turning point for active and honest discussions and improvements

Hopefully it isn't misandrist in nature, but this was also publicised by the Mankind Initiative (please look them up) so I posted it. You are free to contact the researcher to see what they have to say for themselves.

Sorry OP, I wasn’t trying to cast shade on your post. I honestly hope this is exactly what it says it is. Maybe I’m just a little jaded to believe it at first glance. Thank you for sharing this and the hope of positive change in the DV discussion.

If you’d like me to delete my comment I am happy to.

I don't take personal offense, no need to delete the comment, it's part of the discussion. it's quite understandable to have a level of scepticism with this kind of thing. Anyone can contact the researcher and they should

Just wanted to voice appreciation for this exchange, which allowed space for both scepticism and optimism. We need both right now, and I'm glad you both shared your perspective. I'm sad to hear the shitty experience boardattheboard had, of which there are sadly many such stories... But am now feeling cautiously optimistic! Boringcarpets, will you keep us posted on this?

👍

Whats the link? The forum rule on not providing twitter handles is stupid.... this post literally is asking for publicity and saying it wants it

edit: OK found it

Not sure about her in particular, but in the UK there is a dedicated and thriving pro male movement within psychology and domestic violence that completely rejects feminsits narratives:

https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/khc4sk/vid_perfectly_explains_the_difference_between/

see above thats some big stuff there, its not a joke, she is really pushing ahead with her research and activism and has support from the network of professors, DV experts etc. and she is committed in making her findings widely known.

Again in the UK, this is the lead for the UKs first ever male psychology module

absolutely awesome person to be leading it, really knows her shit and has drank 0 koolaid from feminsim... Again they all know each other and help each other out

This is really promising shit, MRM is getting into academia

Check out male psychology network (again same bunch of people)

Thanks for sharing positive news. I've seen some of your posts before... We need these success stories. The UK is clearly not an ideal equal paradise, and maybe because of that they are leading the counter culture movement or men. Thanks for inspiring news! :)

I’m sad I really wanted to help ,but US here ,so I can’t

[–]boringcarpets[S] 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Contact the researcher, maybe they have a US counterpart. Or, if there's enough response they might conduct for the US

I’d never participate without trustworthy assurances that I wouldn’t be arrested due to mandatory reporting rules and Duluth model ‘arrest the man’ policies.

Yay!!

Can we ask her to contact some leading US universities and repeat / extend the research here, too. Canada, etc. also.

I know that all universities in the US are PC and SJW, the elite ones especially heavily. But that's the case in the UK, too, and there she goes. She could possibly persuade researchers here. Or seek out some that are pro-men's rights, and go through them.
