Recently with all the talks of advancements in birth control pills for men, there has been a lot of talk of birth control and I feel a lot of it is dominated by a lot of privileged opinions, mostly from america.

As someone who hit his young twenties recently, I've been seriously considering a Vasectomy. I've never really considering having children as a necessary "to do" thing in my life, especially with me being Bi so there's a chance that might not even be a possibility by default depending on who I end up with long term, but there are a couple of things that shy me away from the idea.

Most of my close friends and especially long term best friends in my life have been women (incredibly supportive of talking about men's issues btw they are awesome) and I've been talking a lot with them about this idea and making my own opinion on these things.

What makes me so annoyed is how much women online, primarily from America, seem to think that having sex without a condom is some sort of aggressive wish all men have. I'm in Romania and all of the couples I'm friends with talked about birth control as an issue on both sides, both parties wanting to not use a condom anymore. I've had two serious relationships so far of several years each and in both of them, we both wanted to not use condoms at one point or another. Idk if America is just this different but over here it seems most men and women both want to go off the condom when they could. It's this shared experience that makes me wish to have a Vasectomy but then comes the next thing. A lot of women over here told me they have a bad view of a vasectomy. Arguments going from "its just weird having sex with a guy that had a procedure down there" to "what it if I wanna have kids someday?" I really don't want to make my gf go through all the issues that come with classic BC for women but I also don't want a future longterm partner to leave me just because we can't have kids.

And besides all of those conversations, there's the surgery risk. Women on reddit seem to think that a vasectomy is a risk less procedure yet both on this sub and countless others, I see more people that have had botched Vasectomies than successful ones. Romania has a bad situation with hospitals and procedures and surgeries tend to be botched here a lot. I really don't want to take the risk of ending up at a shitty doctor that messed up the procedure and leads to an infection, or worse. My two BFFSs both told me that they don't think I should have it because they don't think there's enough capable people here to do it to not have a risk of it going wrong.

What's your opinion on all of this? Do you want a Vasectomy/already got one? Are you scared of a future partner not taking your decision well?
