You're going to have to be very careful and do your best to not come off as attacking her. It's not going to be easy, as you can tell. Gentle conversations about health and such... Do not turn yourself into a doormat or that will set the stage for an unpleasant decade.

If this is her first pregnancy, her body and brain will be haywire with hormones. The baby might be pressing on her bladder, which is uncomfortable, and makes you pee every five minutes. Her breasts might be horribly painful. Constant background nausea can happen... I threw up all day every day for 7 months, my daughter for five months. That was fun.

My point is, not every woman glows with pregnancy, she's probably feeling shit, and ugly and fat and insecure, because hormones, and body swelling. And yes, she might be depressed but really it can be just so overwhelming that every little worry turns into huge one.

It's vital for her health to walk at least half an hour a day, and get sun, so keep encouraging her. Get the doctor to tell her too, as well as talking about diet and checking in on her mental health. Make sure shes taking her prenatal vitamins.

Be gentle with her, tell her you love her and that's she's beautiful and that everything will be okay. It makes a difference when you are a human blimp slash pee factory.

And look after yourself, too. I'll leave it to the dads to describe good ways to do that. But you're probably feeling a bit overwhelmed as well.

If you can afford it, try out one of those meal services that send you all the food and recipes, they tend to be healthy and are easy to manage. If not, maybe both of you can batch cook some healthy meals for the freezer so the temptation to eat fatty junk isn't there.

Also if her friends are nearby, maybe they can help encourage her to get out and about more.

The comments are kinda funny. I went through something very similar and ended up packing and leaving. Mine started attacking me physically and the last time I had to hold her down till she was exhausted and got up and left. She literally sat around all day and was always in a bad mood and wanted to fight everyday. All I wanted was to relax after 14hr work days. Within a week of leaving she had her job and was working and cleaning up after herself and begging me to come back but I was completely done. Over the next six months she did eventually convince me to try again and I was actually surprised. She didn't attack me anymore but she sure did stop working and cleaning. It took 15 years till she started cleaning but that was after I was ready to leave again. She still hasn't worked a day since her first pregnancy and didn't take care of the kids. It's been 20 years now and things have finally evened out now that our kids are just about adults. Many times over the years I've begged her to get a job, but she never did. There was a time I worked 50hrs a week and went to school full time. We were living in a section 8 type situation and the only requirement she had was to do 10hrs of volunteer work a month due to rent requirements. We were kicked out after a year and her refusing to do even an hr. I tried to keep going to college but I had to start working 70+ hrs a week to support us, so I just couldn't keep up after another year.

The point is I understand, and there a chance that nothing will change now that she has you hooked with a kid. For me things always got better for a year or so after I moved out or just threatened, but it never lasted. Now I'm rather happy and so is she but there was about 18 years where the only reason I kept going was for my kids. As our kids started becoming adults things got better, so I'm hopeful but I'm also not stuck anymore and she knows it.

Did she changed with the pregnancy ? Some women get depression when they get pregnant, the way she act could be a result of it.

Get a lawyer. These signs show she is about to leave you after having a child. Do not sign the paternity certificate without a paternity test.

Ok as a mom who got pregnant at 38 for the first time... it sounds like she is on the path of gestational diabetes.

Cleaning chemicals make you want to vommit from the smell.

She is also depressed.

The first three months and the last three are the worse

The middle three are normally the best.
