this is a dating site with a large majority of the users being men, of course the women will be more picky and of course the women will get messaged more. It's not (insert TRP vocab here), its statistics.

that study has been dissected to death. just search the sub for OKCUPID study.
the tldr is women find most men sub par in terms of physical attractiveness but make up for it in other ways. men tend to over focus on physical attractiveness.

Assume that people used to form a perfect bell curve of looks. Add in whatever figure you like for the obesity epidemic. Does the curve shift at all?

Now, do you think that people who use online dating are better or worse looking than average? What effect does this have on the curve?

The only thing I find surprising about that survey is that men rated women on a perfect bell curve.

it's pretty safe to assume that women don't find the great majority of men attractive and indeed they seldom make the first move expecially with strangers, unless you think they don't because the patriarchy is oppressing them or some other blue pill misconceptions. it's up to men to go to a woman and make themselves attractive.
