The only difference between the two SMVs is the barrier to entry (I doubt any of us on PPD would be accepted into the celebrity elite SMV).

Outside of that, you'll always have your gold diggers and poon hounds, your committed LTR couples, and every flavor of single person in between.

The normal SMV/attraction rules break down when you get to celebrity status. It's like being inside the event horizon of a black hole. The laws of physics that we normally understand just don't apply. But we don't know exactly what happens, because we can't see what happens beyond the event horizon. So it is with celebrities - the normal rules don't obtain, and we don't know precisely how it all works because, as noncelebrities, we don't get to see inside (or what we do see is tightly controlled, spun, refined and sugarcoated).

A homeless woman can have more sexual market value than a female celebrity. A woman's primary value is her looks and body, everything else takes a back seat.

I think fame raises a man's SMV than it does a woman's. (e.g. Marilyn Manson) An ugly male musician can probably get laid much more than his non-famous counterpart. An ugly female musician can get laid, too, but probably not much more than her non-famous counterpart.

For men, an increase in socioeconomic status results in better mating prospects. For women it makes them worse, because women want men of equal or higher ses status.

Also an ugly man can still be attractive if he has high ses. An ugly woman cannot compensate for being ugly with ses like a man can.
