I ended a long distance non-relationship a few days ago. Me and this guy dated for three months and while we visited each other once a month and talked everyday, he decided a long distance relationship wouldn't work for him.

He was up front and honest about this from the beginning but we wanted to give a shot anyway. We are also very busy people and simply didn't have enough time to devote to a LDR. We still care about each other and wished each other the best. I think it was a very amicable breakup and we handled it maturely.

With that knowledge, what should I do from here? I plan on going no contact for a while, I have already muted him on social media. I feel like unfollowing or blocking is a bit extreme and if anything shows I'm more emotional about than I really am.

I'm actually doing much better than I thought I would be. I was sad for a couple days but I have accepted that we were simply incompatible. Some people can't do long distance - that doesn't make them a bad person. I enjoyed our time together while it lasted. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

I plan on hitting the gym, working extras hours, looking for hobbies and taking time for myself. No plans to party or sleep around. Any other suggestions to heal during this time?

Also, he was open to the idea of being friends (his idea, not mine). I don't want to talk to him for a while and I'm not sure if I'd be open to being friends. I understand that most people say that just being nice but I think he means that. Either that or he wants to keep the door open just in case he wants to get back together.

We even planned on taking a trip next year and he said I could still join him. I told him we would cross that bridge when we get to it. I likely wouldn't go unless he agreed to a relationship.

He's not a bad person so I kind of don't want to cut him out completely. What should I do?
