I should probably change the title to: Maximize your success rate by understanding your SMV given your context. Too late for that though.
Picking your battles is an art, and it extends beyond the battlefield into every aspect of life. Choose wisely, and you can cement your legacy like Mayweather, or you can slip up and destroy your career, dating prospects, and much more. I’m going to discuss the importance of knowing your context and your goal to be more successful.
Feel free to add suggestions / comments as I am going to refine this over the next few days.
Core Principles
1. Delaying and unscrupulous tactics may be cowardly, but failure is even worse. People remember the winner more so than how he won
2. Know your objective at all times
3. Understand your strengths, and acknowledge your weaknesses
4. Know your opponent
At a high level, you need to understand your SMV and also understand that SMV is varies in different contexts. Choose the context that maximizes your SMV. I could be an 8 in the club scene because of salsa dancing skill, decent fitness, etc, but that may be a 6 in the grunge scene because my strengths may not all be valued.
The detail that I see overlooked in TRP is that context matters. We refer to it when saying: ugly men shouldn't try online dating. But, we don't acknowledge it more broadly. If success rate matters to you, then understand which context maximizes your SMV. Persistence is great and will get you a result eventually if you stick to it, but you can be 10x more successful by picking your context intelligently.
Also, context refers to your target (e.g. Hb8 swedish yoga instructor), your strengths and weaknesses, and the competition (e.g. other yoga instructors?).
How does this apply to dating? Let’s delve into a scenario:
Michael is a tech engineer making $150,000+ with a nice car, dad bod, a passion for sci-fi, who hangs with friends over beers, pizza, and board games, and does not have a lot of physical hobbies. He feels proud of himself and his life because he is in the 1% working at a top tech company is a ‘smart guy’. He loves pretty girls, as does every man, but isn’t successful at getting pretty girls, or any girl for that matter. He is frustrated, and confused as to why things aren’t working out.
Strengths
Weaknesses
Who is Michael’s opponent? Anything in the way of his goal to get a hot girl, which includes his situation, any girl he wants to attract, and his competition. Perception is reality and income is not a strength that many people can display at the start without coming off as a shallow, insecure, dick. So, in reality, Michael has almost no strengths except for his high self-esteem when considering his goal.
The immediate and obvious problem is that hot girls aren’t in his proximity, period. So, in the off chance that he is next to a hot girl (e.g. bus ride, bar, etc), he can’t capitalize because he lacks social skills, fitness, and so forth. So, his goal is mostly unattainable because of his circumstances. He is not picking his battle well because there is a disconnect between his self-perceived value, and his objective’s perception.
Michael could either change his goal, or fix the problems to make his goal feasible, but neither will happen if he doesn’t understand his situation. Most men don’t understand their situation and will continuously fail until they become insane.
So, step number one is determine your goal. Do you want to get a hot girl, or do you want to get a girl that fits your current lifestyle because it makes you happy?
Once you understand your goal, you need to understand where your target would be. If you’re into the bookish intellectual because you want to bang the librarian, find out where they would be. Reading clubs, poetry nights, tea shops, and so on. Understand your target and become an alpha in that domain.
Now that you’ve solved the logistics problem, determine what it takes to shine in that realm and address those gaps. A muscle-bound hunk isn’t going to carry nearly as much power in a book club if he doesn’t fit the space. Being a fit book nerd rocks, but fitting the situation is more important than simply being fit. Once again, understand the commitment required to fill the gaps and make sure you’re willing to commit. If not, change your goal and accept reality.
How does delaying come into the picture? If you find a target that you want, delay until you know you’re on their level. Been working out? Wait till you’ve made serious gains before engaging if she’s out of your league. It’s easy enough to ignore your target and build up a reputation in the area, which will give you time to make success possible. Going at them from minute one will likely fail unless you are already alpha material in that situation. Also, research your target however you can (Facebook, social networking, etc). If you know the target's interests, it makes it easier to steer the prepare and seem greater than you truly are. Preparation resembles intelligence.
How can all of this hard work be avoided? Matching your strengths and your goals together. If you know your sexual market value and strengths, you can simply accept them and focus on the correct target for a high success rate. In Michael’s example, that would likely be a HB4 to HB6 that frequents the gaming events, reads sci-fi, goes to conventions, and so on.
Of course, most men don’t want to settle, which is why we’re here. But, hopefully, this post may yield some epiphanies for those that are struggling and may not have realized they are fighting a disadvantageous battle. Always know what you’re getting yourself into so you can get more out of your current situation by being smarter and more self-aware.
Cheers,
Trodjinn
