"Can't never could" my stepfather use to say when I found something difficult. I would say "I can't" and that was his reply. It's easier to give up when you see a tough obstacle, trust me, I know. It's only when you reach down inside and pull out that warrior in you, the can'ts become cans.
"Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win" (Sun Tzu, The Art of War). What he is saying here is attack with the mindset that you've already won. Those persons that succumb to their own thoughts of incapabilities or inadequacies are the ones that were defeated before they even started.
What motivation made you decide to do something? What drove you to change your life or behavior? Focus on that next time you hear that little voice say "I can't" and remember "Can't never could"!
It's only when you adopt this philosophy and/or mindset you will start seeing you could all along. The success story is in you waiting to be let out. Once it's out you will feel so much pride and power in yourself that you will want to do more and soon your "cans" will become addictions. You'll want to do just one more push up, just one more rep, just one more painting, etc... get out there and turn your can't into cans!
