This past week, I visited my dentist to get my teeth cleaned, it's a regular thing I do every 6-9 months just to get rid of stains and tartar. I'm good friend with my dentist so I often get invited into the clinic area to hangout with him whilst he's on his break.

So as I was hanging out with him, there was a walk-in patient with a really bad tooth ache. My friend went to deal with her in the next cubicle so I got to listen in on the conversation.

The patient told my friend that she's had this really bad tooth for years, but it's never gotten this bad. She woke up in the middle of the night with excruciating pain and had been up since then, unable to fall back to sleep. As she was telling her story, she started crying, and said "Why didn't my parents take me to the dentist, why couldn't they just make me go regularly."

My friend took her tooth out, send her on her way to the receptionist, and came back to where I was, so I asked him what's the story with her. Here's where it gets interesting, he told me she's in her late 40's with really bad teeth, and he had warned her a few months back that something will blow up and that she should get it fixed, but she never came back until now.

Here is an example of a woman in her late 40's, who has known that she has really bad teeth that could blow up anytime, and yet she chose not to do anything about it. And when it did blew up, she chose to not blame herself, but to blame her parents for her poor life choices. I just thought to myself, AWALT, even if she's a middle aged adult.
