So a while ago I came up with a pet name for my girlfriend and when I first used it, she said "oh gosh please don't. That's such a turn off." I used it for the second time last night, then this morning she texts back "don't ever call me that again meanie."

Am I correct in perceiving this as a test of her control over me? I'm thinking of just responding "Okay [pet name]" but I'm unsure if that would be the best response. Any other ideas?
