Situation :

Moved to another country for work some time ago, zero connections/friends here. To increase my social circle outside of work i joined an NGO, started helping with different activities and meeting people and shortly after started a non-exclusive fuck-buddy type thing with a member girl. I kept disclosure of my personal life to a minimum.

Problem :

I recently told her that i don't want to continue and she took it way worse than expected and I'm concerned she will bad-mouth me and affect my position in the organization and future relations with both men and women. Maybe i should have just cut contact and let her figure it out but that is a lesson learned the hard way.

Question :

Should i break frame, apologize and do some damage control or just continue not engaging her and dismissing whatever rumors with a "whatever" ?

EDIT : My concern is rooted in the fact that she asked me not to engage in the NGO anymore and i could see her starting the rumors to force me out.
