It's bullshit. The stars are not even aligned in accordance to the current astrological signs. That said, it fits my personality to just amplify and agree. Tease them about it.

Birth season probably has an effect on personality (ie winter vs summer). There's at least one scientific study that found a correlation between birth season and prevalence of depression and schizophrenia, and the effect sizes were pretty large. But the idea of the planets/stars affecting humans in such a fine grained way is probably bullshit. I could see maybe the sun and moon cycles affecting humans but nothing beyond that.

I find most descriptions of personality are kind of behaviours everyone have, and my hypothesis is that females in general like this because they can screen their friends easily in a social context when reading about astrology.

When someone is reading "their" description, usually they will identify with something and their faces will light up and say some shit like "wow i'm so like this", or maybe the opposite will happen. As females brains were kind of wired more for social behaviour, they feel some reward for reading these social cues in other people and hearing about what someone has to say about their own description. That's my hypothesis on why this astrology sign thing exists and why it still runs widely among western culture.

It's never about what's actually written, but about what other people can figure out about the reader based on the reader's reaction and commentary to the text, and it is sub-councious social behavior, nobody that reads other people by astrology knows exacly what they're doing but they are trying to read other people by touching and feeling until they get it right.

Astrology feels good to women, just accept it and move on.

About talking with women about your sign, here is my advice: they will always try to turn it into a shit test for you. Don't play this game.

Be smarter and learn a little about astrology only if you want to sharpen yourself and shit test them before they even get the chance.

If you’re interested, even if you don’t fully believe, it can be a nice conversation piece. I’m the last guy girls would expect to know anything about zodiac signs. But sometimes I’ll ask if they’re into zodiac signs to jump start a conversation.

I tell them I don’t really believe, because it doesn’t make sense how it could be possible the stars and shit affect one’s personality, but that said, I have noticed some coincidences. Then I’ll go into a little spiel about my past relationships and zodiac compatibility - it’s actually spot on for me. Could just be coincidence. Either way it gets them talking then you can branch off into other topics.

I’d say learn about it if you’re at all interested. No one says you have to believe everything you learn about. Personality, I like learning for the sake of understanding concepts / systems. Doesn’t mean I have to totally agree with something I’m knowledgeable about.
