First post here. Went out to dinner with friends today and was treated to a beautiful waitress. I lightly teased her each time she visited our table. My friends then jokingly suggested I leave my number on the receipt before leaving.

Instead, just before leaving our table for the last time, I catch up to her and bluntly told her I thought she was gorgeous and asked for her phone number. She was completely flustered and said she would've, only that she had boyfriend. By her reaction I'm positive it would've gotten it if it weren't for this reason.

Rewind to mid-dinner. As soon as the thought of asking for her number came into my head, my brain began to immediately come up with copious reasons why I should not be doing this.

  • "It'd be rude to do this while she's at work"
  • "You don't really feel like approaching"
  • "She probably thinks I'm too young"
  • "It'll be too hard to get her at the right moment"

These thoughts cycled through my head, along with pretty much any other thought that fought what I really wanted to do. Then I thought, "you'll regret it if you don't."

Earlier today a friend of mine was beating himself up over not approaching a girl at the gym. That wasn't going to be me this time.

TL;DR I'd rather be rejected then come away without at least trying.
