Don't stop social contact 'til you get a solid 'no' or you lose interest. You could try the fibonacci sequence with your pings to test the waters. Or any pattern would do (don't get too nerdy with the math...it's just to get you to text her while making it fun for you, and getting rid of any anxiety about whether you should text her or not-if you have a pattern set already, you won't have to worry about it). If you felt the loss of the window, then you could reasonably imagine she felt it too. If you KNOW she felt it, then apologize half-heartedly about whatever it was that caused the break and ask her if she's willing to pick it up where you guys left it off. This can work even for casual acquaintances: "Hey buddy! Long time no-see! Sorry I've been so busy lately! How've you been?" If you see yourself being with this girl for the long-run, then you need to know that there are no external situations that can get in the way of a serious relationship. It doesn't sound like you're there yet, though. So, just focus on the things you have control over-your own thoughts, feelings, words and actions.

From what I see, « escalation window » is the time frame between you shake her hand / kisses on her cheeks to when she is riding your d*ck. It’s a window calculated in minutes/hours. If she’s “incapacitated” for the moment, be a (real) gentleman, wish her well (Hey, have a nice trip, it’s always fun to [blah blah] / Ohh damn! Sucks to get [cold, flu, whatenot], hope you’ll get better soon [...] hit me up when you’re back [in town / on your feet] so we can [hang out/have a drink/whatever]” and that’s it. If she has any sort of interest, she’ll get back to you. If not, move along!
