Very, very, very very true. If a guy shows too much interest in me from the beginning, like making it clear that they want to move me to that girlfriend level practically right away, it says one of two things to me. Either that they are so superficial that they don't care about anything but my looks, or that they are so desperate to get a female, any female, to give them a chance, that they don't even care about anything about who I am, they just want someone with ovaries to accept them. Both are very negative qualities.

Flirting done properly is testing on both sides - both of you are throwing things out there at each other and seeing how the other responds, and thus learning whether or not you want to take it beyond flirting or whether the other person is worthy of your interest. Flirting is fine from the get-go, but proper flirting doesn't convey that you are necessarily "sold" on her yet - it is testing. You wait to be sold until she's sufficiently impressed you with her internal qualities.

Qualification is the second most important part of game after opening. Hugely, hugely important.
