So yeah. Kind of new to this stuff. I've been reading a lot of this crap forever now and despite the repeated sayings of "Just go out and do it!" I never really have. It's a mixture of not having the right environment (almost all of my friends are paired off) and a fair amount of anxiety (How in the world do I try this solo?)

So, here's my declaration now (to a bunch of anonymous folks on the internet) to get this shit handled and to actually put some serious effort into this. Like everything else I've ever done, when I actually put my mind to it and make serious effort, shit gets done.

So, to start off I kinda wanna do a retrospective. I've gone on a date or two here and there since I broke up with my previous girlfriend (4 years, most of my college career and moving to a new state for her) and I wanted to get some folks who know what they're talking about's perspective and tell me if my screw ups are what I think they are...

I meet this girl online. We start talking online here and there and she tells me that she's just getting over a massive break up which I have too so we commiserate on that a little before we decide to go out for the first time. We go hit this sushi place; I have never really had sushi at this point and she orders all the stuff which is awesome. We just talk and I pay. We decide from there to go check out this liquor store (on her recommendation) and we just browse a little bit. Eventually we decide to go back to my place and play Rock Band, which we do. Afterwards, we say good bye and call it a night.

Throughout the whole thing, in retrospect, I was totally into her but I made absolutely no move to escalate it (mostly because I'm not sure how. That's still probably my biggest weakness now) even though she was all but begging for it (suggesting the liquor store after sushi, coming to my how to play video games on the first date.)

So, yeah. Any other obvious things I missed? Subtle things I missed? Suggestions on where to start?
