Thanks everyone. That definitely gave me some courage. And the reason that I can’t just pack my bags and walk away is because my mother stays with us. She is 77. She has contributed a fair bit towards the house(financially and undertakes daily chores). I can go live with a friend but concerned about her safety. Btw- she has been verbally abused at times too. So basically I always get demoralised and insulted for the things that I do and the things I don’t do on a daily basis. e.g. I get ganged u…

Thank you everyone. The comments helped me build a bit of confidence that I can do it. I have no kids and that has been the hot topic for a few months with her insisting me to have kids. I have already separated the bank accounts a few months ago. She use to threaten me that she’ll transfer the money and I will be left with nothing. I used that as an excuse to separate the bank accounts. She has turned all my friends away from me- she tells that that how I have made her life hell just by standin…

When We bought the car that we primarily use, I discussed about having a dashcam due to the fact it is a new car and if there is an incident we’ll be able to capture. But at the time she accused me that I want to spy on her and that’s the reason I wanted to have a dashcam. And we didn’t ended up having one. She even accuses me that I’m doubting her if I try to call her more than once for someone urgent!

Its only the conversations I can record ad most of it is verbal. I do already have a few convos but most are after the majority of the stuff is already said- but does have some substance.

This seems to be the only way out! I have already undergone years of being undermined. Lost all my confidence. Everything I do makes me think twice whether its right according to her- even small things like - if she feels cold, she’ll turn the heater on. When I feel cold , I get asked to layer up and not use the heater as its not good for you.

I’m forced to live in a relationship. My wife and her family continuously humiliates me, say demeaning things and even threatens me with going to the police with false accusations against me. Once my wife and I had an argument in a moving car and she opened the car door and deliberately started repeatedly screaming “help- he is hitting me” when infact we were having an argument on which I just mentioned that “I can’t live in this relationship anymore due to how she treats me”. I feel helpless as…

Thanks. I thought about that but its just the fear of the consequences thay stops me from doing it. Please see the other comment. I accidentally replied to my own discussion thread instead of replying to your comment.

I am frightened about the consequences of going to the police. What if she actually makes false accusations against me to the police. I just fear that any such action by me will trigger her and her family to do so. I heard police gives women preference over men. Or it could just be the fear that has been dwelled into me by these threats.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
