I like some things about the Joker, while acknowledging that he's completely overtaken by his mental illness and misdirected anger, and therefore cannot be a role model in any functional society.

Well, that's the original purpose of an engagement/wedding ring - that's the insurance that he willingly gives her so that she's not destitute should he die or abandon them. I've mentioned before in this sub that while jewellery is great, there are many more ways to provide this insurance - he could give her a stock portfolio, a property, a business. And it is possible to stay at home for the most part, but also study, or work somewhere part time, or run a business from home. Many ways to be a s…

Being a sahm can be a wonderful life though, IF the woman has support. If the husband does whatever he can to automate chores and actually parents his kids as well. I don't think cases like these (while depressingly common) prove that no woman should ever be a sahm. If the husband is terrible, he'll make her life miserable whether she's at home or in an office anyway. Like, would this woman's husband have unpacked the dishwasher if she'd worked in an office? I don't know... Some women genuinely …

What's up, Ladies? Just slidin up on your screens to let you know I'm a tall buff man and it's okay to be a little bit scared of me, I'm down with it. 😉 (And he's saying it in the same breathy way as "It's me...")

Ah, I see! Yes, the article is completely devoid of fathers, isn't it?! I'm thinking they mayyy have done it to keep the focus of the article on the specific event of being separated from their children, and not on the circumstances around the conceptions - but it wouldn't have hurt to mention that aspect too.

I only learned about it in passing while learning about something else - unfortunately I don't have any serious resources. I have done some rudimentary digging and found this summary of an article which says, the adolescent, at 18 years old, has to do a military service called the ephebia. At the end of this formation, the young man, aged of 20 years old, comes back to his city. However, he has to continue his (intellectual) training until about his 30 years old. Generally, at this age, a man ma…

These are what GoT should have been like Excellent!! I've been really craving a series with all of the intrigue, royalty, costumes, scenery and drama as GoT, without any of the gore. I read about an edited version that's available in countries where the full version is banned - but it's sort of pointless to watch a series with a bunch of scenes chopped out! Thanks for the recommendations.

In the first century, adolescence was considered to last until 30. At 30 you were the exact opposite of old - you had literally just become an adult that very morning. There's a lot of pressure on teenagers now to basically be adults, make adult decisions and live with the consequences for the rest of their lives. I've met people who do feel old when they turn 30 - but after living like an adult for nearly two decades already, that's understandable.

Some electronics salesman in my area is currently rolling in dough, because every male aged 14+ walks down the street here with a freaking beer-crate sized speaker, blasting someone else's creation to the ends of the actual earth. The guy across from me has recently gotten one and literally brings it out to the pavement and just sits on it. And their demeanour while doing this is so clearly misplaced confidence. It's so terribly sad, lol.

But that was just a side note. I agree on calling out the pickmes. I don't know if this person meant "don't pamper her" or "don't ruin her" - but either way, even if she meant well, she's wrong. No good at all can come from teenaged children playing adult, even with another teenager.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy23/05/21 09:39 AM

Interestingly, both uses of the word spoil - "damage" and "pamper" - ultimately have the same meaning socially, because a woman is ruined by previous sexual contact (whether consensual or not), and she is equally ruined by having been pampered, as this ensures that she will become a high-maintenance princess that no self-disrespecting scrote wants to deal with.

I know if we lived in a perfect world where men weren't sexist pigs, it wouldn't be a big deal if young girls were getting into sex work That's the only part I disagree with. It's because of sexism that sex slavery is normalised as "work," and it will always be a big deal if girls are introduced to this industry. In a perfect world, sex, companionship and a human soul are not commodities. Other than that, I commend you for taking a hard look at yourself and your life - no-one likes doing that, l…

It's not necessarily difficult when you live with your family, but of course your household dynamics are a factor too. In extreme cases, if the family is abusive or controlling, it's not always safe to "defy" them - that gets discussed in the vegan subs every now and then. Sometimes the family is just a bunch of trolls, which can really affect your mental state too. Yeah, that guy sounds horrible, on top of just plain rude. Good on you for nexting him. Precisely, and an ethical stance is a hefty thing to lie about. I'm aware that not everyone understands that it's a stance - but even most people who don't get it wouldn't lie about it. You have to just be a horrible partner to pretend to be on board with something with your SO. I can only assume that your friend went along with it because we're so conditioned to have zero standards and never hold any men in our lives accountable, as well as believe that we deserve all of these awful things that…

That second guy isn't poly, that's not how poly works. That part's true, but the real version is all about ethics I would say they're ultimately the same thing. One hides his harem, the other keeps a harem openly. The only difference between them is what's socially acceptable in their respective home regions.

I was just about to post about this. There are several other conditions besides just FDS and pickme. Some women are definitely destroying themselves, but not necessarily out to destroy other women or find a man in the process. Sometimes these conditions overlap, but every dysfunctional woman isn't guaranteed to be a pickme.

Outside this space we put on a smile and lie to you to make you feel better. ‘Of course the sex was good, Of course size doesn’t matter, Of course I love dad bods’. Yes, we lie to make you feel better about yourself. We lie to boost your confidence. We pretend that your jokes are funny. We go on pity dates and give you sex when we don’t want it. Do we tho? Lmao, when someone's proud of it, that is a whole other level of baffling. When I was a tween, I had a major crush on a boy in my class. One day, he LOUDLY announced to the people around him (including me), "I've never cleaned my teeth at night, and I never will!" And that's how you instakill a crush, haha. Never had the slightest feelings toward him again. I really hope he has better hygiene habits now that we're grown up.

You think somehow things would have gone differently if I had stopped and talked to him? No, not at all. Maybe I just wasn't clear enough, but I was specifically saying that what he wanted wasn't relevant, that even if he'd **hypothetically** had a valid reason to call you, it still wouldn't have justified attacking you for not responding. In fact, any person who does have a valid reason to call you wouldn't hurt you, so he outright told on himself by doing that. I also said I wasn't blaming you…

Absolutely! You should have the same mutual respect between you and your friends as you'd expect from a suitor. No constant waiting hand and foot on the "friend" who only calls me when she needs money, or gossips about me, or negs me or ignores me when I speak. And no following someone who consistently walks away from you! If my "friend" is miles ahead, I take a sharp left and disappear. I'm confused about how he's weaponising his Hollywood status to force teen girls to look at him. Yes, it's super gross that he didn't care (or possibly liked it all the more?) that she was 19, but how was she forced into looking at his profile, matching or FT-ing? Please don't bury me in downvotes, I just want someone to explain to me what I'm missing.

Honestly, I think these "things you can say that will help reassure him" are just patronising and stupid. It's like someone saying, "I think I'm ugly," and you go, "Oh honey, at least you're dependable." ALSO, they assume that you can actually say those things about a man based on size. What a load of unscientific hogwash.

I'm sure it depends on the individual woman? If your cervix has dropped quite low after birth, you may find sex with a smaller penis more comfortable, since he can go all the way in without smashing your cervix to a pulp. Of course, if you manage to lift it back up with lots of pve, then I guess my question is moot.

I just looked this up. This is from the Wikipedia article, under the "Memorials" heading: A memorial erected in Vancouver sparked controversy because it was dedicated to "all women m.urdered by men," which critics say implies all men are potential murderers. As a result, women involved in the project received d€ath threats and the Vancouver Park Board subsequently banned any future memorials that might "antagonize" other groups. HUH?? Literally, "I will k*ll you for calling me a k*ller."

The guideline I've heard is that the ring(s) should cost what he earns in a month 3 months. So of course a wealthier man can afford a much fancier ring. But while I wouldn't expect a man in a lower income bracket to purchase an unrealistically expensive ring (like, can't buy a house or car or eat for two years after buying that rock), I do think it should be valuable in relation to what he can realistically afford. So it might be a tiny diamond or birthstone or whatever they're into, in a plain …

Not necessarily. It is never recommended nor commanded in the bible to force someone to adopt your faith - that literally defeats the purpose, it has to be voluntary. You can go into another place and tell them, but the choice is theirs to accept or reject your message. That said, there have been many colonisers who have outright lied in claiming that the scriptures state that their group is superior and therefore the rightful dominators of the other group. “You’re not my mother.” I hate this nonsensical reasoning. DUH, you're planning with the KID in mind. Kid gets to make a project and present it to Mom, or go shopping, or cook, or whatever. And even if you're not (like if you're the parent or sibling of the mother), it's still not detrimental to you to acknowledge her... But when these same people want to be taken care of, all of a sudden your skills as a mother are transferable. Doesn't add up, guys.

In what universe is it sane to perform an intimate act that we're designed to do with love and respect, with zero affection and as a job? I agree wholeheartedly with your first two paragraphs, but not necessarily the last. The fb comments are responding to what they perceive to be the poem's meaning. I once went and sat with some people I had seen around at school to get away from a scrote who had been sitting with his body all over me. I told them exactly why I was asking to sit with them, and they were very welcoming. However, I've found strangers to be completely useless - they're either literally clueless and will outright express their confusion as to why you're interacting with them, or they'll see why and get very icy and awkward. I live in a society of pickmes and abusers.

It obviously wasn't funny at the time, but this reminds me so much of the King Pin Katie episode where Cheryl advises Katie to try to sell drugs to all the wrong people - a pair of preppy teens, a woman breastfeeding a baby, etc. I'm picturing this guy seeing you, clearly just going about your day, and thinking, "Yep, that's the one. That's definitely the person who's going to buy my drugs."

Do you think that some men are genuinely dumb about these things, and think women want what rom-coms say we want? Because your friend's husband changed his plans after talking to his wife's female friend. He seemed like he was genuinely trying to please her, just had it wrong, but was willing to listen and learn. (Not that it makes a difference, total idiocy is still a pretty bad start to a marriage...)

Remember when the only sex-related injuries were carpet burn and hickies? Don't get me wrong, hickies are gross, but back then your sex life was wild if you were chafing your body on the hallway rug. I stopped at Natalie Connelly, because her murderer dealing her 40 separate injuries, leaving her to die at the bottom of the stairs, going about his business until the next day, then calling emergency services to casually inform them that she was dead, and then only being charged with manslaughter and sentenced to 3 years, is too much. I'm not going to read any more of these at this time of night. Goodnight, everyone. Be safe, see you tomorrow.

I don't think there's necessarily something wrong with wanting to be presentable to your romantic partner. If you're in a healthy relationship, you will both desire to be attractive to each other - you will both be groomed and smell nice, and this will benefit both of you. It becomes unhealthy if one partner puts in zero effort while the other maintains a basic beauty standard (relationship subs, anyone?), or if that desire for attractiveness is given to undeserving strangers. But of course, you…

When I was 15 I was doing a community service project at the library and needed to be there before they opened. I was the only person walking to the library. An older man (maybe 40, late thirties) pulled over on the other side of the road and asked me where the train station was. I told him that it was at the very end of the road we were on, he just had to continue to follow the road and he'd be there. He said thanks and drove off. Yes, exactly this. That's what I meant by "enthusiastic" - cheerful and genuinely oblivious. I find it can also work with gossips who have heard something about you and brazenly try to get more info out of you: "I heard X about you!" - "Gasp! Oh, that's very interesting, please tell me more!" - "... I heard... X..." - "Oh! [disappointed]... I suppose your sources are useless then. Too bad." And then bid them a wonderful day and leave them standing there annoyed and confused.

Yeah, this is actually way more accurate than what I first speculated. I was thinking that they must assume that we're directly enjoying the experience - but it makes much more sense that they'd think we find it insanely pleasurable to be objects that give them pleasure.

I like doing this, it's so much fun to confuse busy bodies. "When is your next doctor's appointment?" - "Fine, thanks!" If you're enthusiastic in your totally unrelated answer, they don't know how to respond for a second, and during that second you make your escape.

How else would you describe this if it happened to you? "Had to endure an overbearing and forceful conversation during my trip. Did not use this company to look for arguments." The last bit hints at their bottom line. Sometimes it's a good idea to throw in something about how it affects The Company. Edit: nvm, I've read the whole thread, and other people gave way better answers! I'd definitely go with, "He was xenophobic and threatening" over the description of generic rudeness.

Turns your living organic amazing body into a flat static dead thing. Ah, this is so well put! And makes total sense. You are giving yourself over for one-sided sex in which your image is freely available to be used while the real you does not partake in the experience. (Perhaps even converts you into a porn star in his eyes, and thus alters the expectations from the real you - which might be a stretch, but if he's LV enough, not really a stretch.)

We don’t crave random, unattached and unsatisfying sex the way men do. For them it's not unsatisfying, so I don't think they assume it's unsatisfying for us. When projecting, you have to assume that the other experiences the world exactly as you do. So based on that assumption, of course we would want that.

Urrrgh, this is so much cringe. Do people know what hormones actually are? Cortisol, oxytocin, insulin, adrenaline, ghrelin, etc are all hormones, and we ALL produce them. They perform various functions in our bodies, from appetite control to regulation of nutrients, to sleep patterns and more. If you think your hormones are out of control, you either legitimately have an imbalance which needs to be addressed because it may or may not cause more health problems, or it's not actually your hormone…

I didn't see "straight white guy" as racist at all, actually quite the opposite. I interpreted it entirely as a comment on the social hierarchy and the ultimately binary rating system to determine who has the right to life. Separately, whites are placed above POC, men are placed above women and heterosexuals are placed above homosexuals. Specifically, a white woman is still lower than a white man, so she scores 0 and he scores 1 in the right to life contest. A heterosexual POC is still lower tha…

Yeah, this particular panel and audience was obviously skewed in one direction. I did like what the shaggy-looking guy had to say though, that the desire for pornography comes from a corrupted nature - and then, of course, it's a viscous cycle after you feed the desire only once. Some of those audience members were unnecessarily snarky.

I think when they tell us how we feel and what our intentions are, they're projecting. They don't know us, they just assume that we're like them because they're the default. But when they get uptight about other men trying to be friends with their wives, I don't think they're projecting, because it is in fact accurate. They all know that they're all the same. Around here, people have formal parties when they turn 21, and their parents will give them speeches acknowledging their adulthood. Yes, at 18 they'll have a big party too, but that's more of an "old enough to hang out without the parents" kind of celebration, and the older people usually stay out of it. But at 21, it's official, you're not a child any more. And that tradition is 100% based on knowledge that the older generations had, which scientists later confirmed - that your brain is still i…

he should look for some kind of sexual counselling/therapy or she should look for a new partner I think both of these need to happen. They're both 18. How old could his previous girlfriends have been? Too young to be confidently setting healthy boundaries, that's how old. I want to know where ALL of the parents are. Being legally an adult doesn't make you scientifically an adult, and I hate this culture of teens and parents being separated as soon as humanly possible. You're not ready to make huge life decisions at this age, you shouldn't be thrown to the wolves like this and have to ask a bunch of perverts on the internet for…

I hate it too! The word pornography literally is from the Greek pornographos, ‘writing about prostitutes’, from pornē ‘prostitute’ + graphein ‘write’. Bonus etymology: Prostitute, from Latin prostitut- ‘exposed publicly, offered for sale’, from the verb prostituere, from pro- ‘before’ + statuere ‘set up, place’. It really makes no sense to describe your enjoyment of something non-sexual as pornographic in nature. Like, imagine taking pictures of baked goods, and then saying to your parents, "Wou…

Emma is not saying Harriet is intrinsically better than other women I didn't think she was. I just saw it as a friend trying to look out for her friend, whom she thinks can do better - which I've learned from the other reply she was misguided in anyway. What's the takeaway then? Don't hang out with a know-it-all...?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/21 07:47 PM

Besides that, it is completely normalised, as are all the other things that get done to women in maternity wards/delivery rooms. Basically, your body, your child, and anything at all related to you or your child, are seen as the property of the hospital, and should you demand to have any choice in the matter, you are seen unreasonable, unstable and a criminal for trying to defeat their purposes.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/21 10:48 AM
35

So (according to Emma) Harriet is basically able to use the men's rules and preferences to her own advantage, being so desirable in her prettiness and pleasantness that she can choose whichever suitor she wants (out of the options presented). In real life, is being more acceptable to men compared to other women really an advantage? Is it something you can use to really help yourself and other women? I've never watched this show, so please forgive me if my take on this one scene is irrelevant.

It's not so. There are women of all types in loving, romantic, exciting relationships. Their partners are drawn to them because they're smart, vivacious, compassionate, creative, responsible, funny, etc etc. Even exceptionally good-looking women in really happy relationships are attractive to their husbands for those reasons. I don't doubt that we're twice as likely to wash our hands - it's just not accurate to act as though it's a 1:1 ratio of hygienic women to unhygienic men, as well as hygiene being about more than just hand washing. What I'm not denying is that it places us in a worse position than them, being less likely to find a partner whose hygiene level matches ours from day one, and potentially ending up having to deal with a trail of dirt behind the husband, etc. I've seen a lot of posts in this sub about…

Yeah, I figured I would get a hard disagree on this, but it's what I've observed since childhood at school and in so many different settings - cheap venues to high-end. Sometimes I think ignorance is the cause of poor hygiene (it doesn't look dirty), sometimes I think it's entitlement (someone else will clean up after me), and sometimes I just don't know what it is. But I've seen poor hygiene from every type of person all of my life.

I can actually understand why the military and police would do this - having soldiers be 100% walking weapons/trackers/barricades as opposed to an emotional, unpredictable individual, is beneficial to the purposes of these organisations. Because they don't see it as someone being in your life. As an object, the woman has no life, and the object is in the protagonist's (ie, the man who is currently focusing on her) life. I don't know if most people would admit to this mindset out loud - but a lot of people treat stalking as though she should be flattered by the attention, thus telling on themselves.

This guy sounds ridiculous. Playing childish games "just to see how you respond" is a red flag. Also, he outright told you that work is the thing that connects you - ie, you're officially nothing more or less than a colleague. I'd keep it neutral and professional.

“Darling” Men using sarcastic terms of endearment at women always makes me think of, "Don't you worry your pretty little head about that." And I get the same treatment when I go to the hardware store. They smirk as if I'm clearly lost, and go, "Yes, sweetie?"

This person is obviously a total scumbag who did not deserve one second of attention, let alone nudes. But even to your most trusted loved one, I still don't recommend doing it. Even if your partner is 100% trustworthy, accidents happen. Devices get stolen, accounts get hacked, things get lost during moving, etc. You can't get them back, and now some greasy stranger is foaming at the mouth while devouring your private images. DON'T DO IT.

Exactly! People get dressed for so many things - the office, the wedding of some distant acquaintance you're never going to see again, shopping at the mall... but not to impress someone you're claiming to be interested in, oh no, that's an unreasonable expectation.

Exactly, at that point all she wants to do is stay alive and not endure even more abuse from his allies. It's a pity there isn't a crazy ex-boyfriend registry like there is for sex offenders. Then at least the next woman could check if he's on it without the previous women being exposed.

My mother got hassled by SO MANY PEOPLE when my grandmother died, telling her that she ought to move back in and take care of him. She said absolutely not, she works all day and has no time to be his slave. When she was younger, my grandmother had an operation and had to recuperate for a while. During that time, she would get home from work to find him moping around waiting for someone to cook for him. Then she'd wash his dishes and do general cleaning. Cognitive dissonance, and I guess expressing concern for the wife helps her ease her conscience? "Other women" who may be reading this - there is nothing you can do to make what you doing right. If his wife is truly an abuser, he should leave her and make a fresh start instead of involving you. If she's not, then why are you helping him to cheat on her? See? Either way, he's wrong, and what you're doing together is wrong.

Let's just pretend for a minute that being married isn't a problem here. When she asks about how he got away, he snaps at her that it's none of her business. She's worried about the wife, but is he not treating them both this way? Does she think he'd have a gentler reaction if the wife asks him where he's going? If she genuinely cares about the wife, she should care about herself too, and just leave married men alone.

I'm very confused about this height obsession. What's the big deal exactly? If you're short, you're short - there are plenty of short women out there, and plenty of tall women who would happily be with you if you're a HVM. (I know two short men from the same family who both married taller women. Neither of those men or women are bothered by it, and the men don't care if their wives wear heels either.) Is this a USA thing? (Genuine question.)

Depravity must peak, that's correct - but historically what happens when depravity peaks is not a sudden awakening of the authorities, since they are just as depraved. What tends to happen is the collapse of a civilisation.

It's a viscous spiral, because pornography isn't static - it has to become more extreme as its users become accustomed to the "soft" stuff. Then the next generation considers the previous generation's "hard porn" to be the "vanilla" stuff, and produces a whole other level of depravity for the next generation to consider normal. So, you're right, but it's like the increase in depravity comes from the previous generation's porn.

Virtually every piece of visual media they've consumed since childhood featured a low value man with a woman who's out of his league. Exactly, I'm so sick of this trope already. Adding this: a man who doesn’t have any other options, really. Mostly because he’s ugly Is this really what you think determines a man's options? A man can be ugly as hell, but charismatic, generous, funny, etc, and attract many people, both platonically and romantically. Just as a good-looking man may be boring, selfish, or a useless man-baby. And both types are equally capable of using their attractive qualities (whether those are looks or charisma) for good or evil.

The thing about a human being is that we have this curious ability to work on ourselves and improve. If absolutely no woman settles for a LVM, those men will fade out of existence, either by levelling up and becoming worthy of a HVW or by dying alone because he refused to level up. I would encourage you to be optimistic. Be the best you and don't settle for less. The ratio of men to women in general isn't as important as HVM and HVW being in the same place at the same time. This is a very emotive picture. The artist's rage and disappointment are perfectly expressed in those smears. Ok, I agree with some of what you're saying - of course if a father doesn't make an effort for his kids, he should be named, blamed, shamed and defamed. Also, I might add that if one parent dies, it is perfectly natural for the remaining parent to do what needs to be done. If your children's other parent is a complete disaster who disrupts their lives and harms their emotional and educational development, it seems to make sense to train yourself to continue life as though you've been widowed, leaving no duty to the other parent that you wouldn't leave to a literal dead person. I get that you want men to take responsibility, we all do. But I think you're missing quite a few vital details - for one thing, considering a child's safety and wellbeing doesn't make you a pickme. It makes you a parent who parents their kids. If the mother were the terrible parent, and the father the one making a real effort, would you have any problems at all with the father taking majority or full custody? Would that make him a pickme? This reminds me of Flight of the Conchords when Bret writes Coco a love song. At first he promises all of the usual grand gestures in the lyrics, but then Jemaine asks him if he's actually willing to do any of those things. He admits that he isn't, and changes the lyrics to a bunch of mundane stuff. The theme and style are very similar, I wonder if this was partly inspired by Conchords. I'm thinking of all the pinning down and vagina- and breast-grabbing that went on at my high school. It's never too early to learn about boundaries. Without saying a word about sex, a little boy can be taught to always ask girls before touching their legs or tummies, and to never ever touch their bottoms.
