Can you imagine if the majority of female characters in movies were ugly, broke, mentally unstable, overweight, had no job, dressed repulsively, had no hygiene, but always ended up with some hot ass guy in the end because her charming personality won him over?

A month ago, my super LV brother (we're teens) came into my room and out of nowhere proclaimed that Adam Sandler was his favorite actor. I was so confused because I only vaguely knew what type of movies he did and disliked the few I watched, and he didn't really give any more explanation than "I think all his films are great!". (Why did I even ask...)

But with your explanation, no wonder he loves those movies, they reaffirm exactly what he already believes, and he probably projects onto the main characters big time.

I used to be a fan, I've realized the only character he plays in his movie's is a 15 year old boy. I also don't like Wayne's World and Austin Powers. All these movies are putting a LVM on a pedestal.

I can’t stand all the “casual” sexual harassment/assault in his movies. Even in the one where he tried to champion gay rights, he manages to include insane levels of sexism in the same breath. He’s gross

I was never allowed to see his movies growing up because my mom hated him so much (thank you mom!) but I always heard the praise for them. When I got older and went to watch them on my own I couldn't stand the stupid middle school humor and sexism. So gross that so many young people watched his movies and grew up with that as an influence. The perpetuation of LVM doing less than the bare minimum and still ending up with the hot model type speaks to the entitlement of so many men.

Omg me too. His movies were soo popular when I was growing up, and I remember trying so hard to like them to fit in. That along with other societal things. I always thought something was wrong with me.

My sister worked at a resort in Wai ki ki and said he came in once for the day. He kept his shirt on even in the pool, and was pretty rude to everyone there. What a weirdo.

60 minutes interviewed him a couple years back at his childhood home with his parents. He’s unsurprisingly lower middle class. The media just used him as a puppet fodder for degenerate men.

Yeah, I agree. The character he always plays ruins him in real life for me. I don't like him. I like movies like the Wedding Singer, but not because of him. He's a boy trapped in a man's body. That stupid voice he does bothers me so much. Whenever I hear a guy do that voice I cringe.

A male friend and I once went to see an Adam Sandler -film at a movie theatre. His choice. After 15 minutes or so I just couldn’t watch that garbage excuse of a human being for a second longer and walked out.

I didn't watch all his films but kind of enjoyed 50 first dates where he CONSISTENTLY put in effort. Obviously far from the best romcom out there but thought it was surprisingly sweet and subconsciously set my expectations of a guy quite high when I first watched it as a teenager ages ago.

Basically the woman he is trying to woo in this movie suffers from permanent amnesia so he tries to impress her over a long period of time hoping she will remember some of it and slowly fall in love with him. He videotapes their most precious moments and plays it to her every morning after they become a couple.

The only one I like of his was the golfing one, but I can’t remember what it was called and I watched it once like forever ago. I wouldn’t watch it again however

I don't mind silly and childish humour, tbh, as long as it's clean (things like physical comedy, excessive screaming, the villain being too stupid to live, etc). This guy's idiotic antics are not clean at all, they just try to make it look like a person with severe developmental stunting and no moral compass is supposed to be seen as a valid mate - in essence sexualising a dysfunctional child whose body happens to have aged. I don't know which is worse - that they push so hard for women to be into children the way they are, or that so many women buy into it???
