The professor is an idiot. Men and women both have very strict roles placed on them. Traditionalism (chivalry is shit) has not been a cake walk for men or women. Most-modern feminism has not been a cake walk for men and women. The MRM is exactly what feminism needs. Both sexes deserve a third way in modernity and constructing those roles and society need to be open to both sexes having input on how we should govern ourselves based on factual data. Or something like that.

Hell after we get feminism fixed the really hard fight is going to be traditionalism. That is the fight that scares me the most for the future of the MRM they are a tougher foe and it will be a hugely divisive issue in the MRM community.

Men in western society are avoiding marriage and people are noticing. CAFE has opened a center in Canada. AVfM has a conference planned for this year the second annual one. Sen. Does your advocacy work at all have a focus on making men and boys aware of the warning signs of what an abusive relationship looks like so they can escape? Second can you tell us what is different about an abusive homosexual and heterosexual relationship and what is the same? I'm afraid our gay brothers are underserved in being made aware of DV and how it is common in there community as well.
/r/MensRights10/10/15 03:16 AM

OP yes it is illegal. If you really want a Brazilian wax job your nearest gay community can find you a spa that is not so bigoted against men. Though getting waxed in other parts of the world don't have this hang up like America.

There is a demand for these services by men and "gay" spas provide that service.

Most of these violent men were raised by women absent a father. families that have a father in the household raise better kids on average. This has been known for a long time but is not talked about very much in the media or in academic circles.
/r/MensRights10/10/15 03:06 AM

Also something that is not being investigated but I suspect plays a link or at least is a huge contribution is the drugs these young men are prescribed. The link between increased suicide after taking certain drugs is now well established. There is some good science to be done on elevated violence related to prescription drugs for mental health treatment.

Actually according to the FBI 8% of rape accusations are provably false. This makes false rape accusations the most provably false violent felony accusation in America. This stat does not include what happens in family court during divorce procedures and child custody procedures so the level is much higher.

We need sex offender registries but the database should be limited to mental health professionals and law enforcement. Also a serious look needs to be done into careful classification of the type of sexual offence and duration of oversight of the convicted. If as psychologist are claiming that pedophilia is a mental defect than that sensitive medical information is not fit for public release.

In this case justice was served. Every man and women should be held to account for statutory rape. One thing many human rights movements can get behind is Romeo & Juliet laws to mitigate the harm of a consensual sexual encounter in the young and a serious look needs to be taken at age of consent laws not just for heterosexual sex but homosexual sex as well. Many gay teens run afoul of some very serious laws when they first start exploring there sexuality. This is also an issue BIG feminism activ…

Playboy is a sacred cow for men in western society and was on the frontline of the "sex wars" in second wave feminism (more so the Playboy Bunnies who felt the need to speak up in defense of there life choices)??? Thoughts?
/r/MensRights27/08/15 11:19 PM

Actually Playboy is now headed by Scott Flanders though a lot of the changes in editorial content implemented by Christie Hefner still linger. She is still on the board so I assume she still has a lot of behind the scenes power and control over content.

Yes and no is the answer OP. Still as has been said before nobody owns culture. If we go down that path we might as well bring back the "brown paper bag test". That is what bothers me most about BIG feminism and SJWs is the lack of historical context due to there narrow worldview of only viewing issue through a feminist lens. Nope, custody and child support is a weird issue of chivalry and feminism combining to try and solve a legitimate issue that has been hijacked by extremists and enforced by apathetic centers of power. We just need reform which is very doable. The MRM movement is not asking for much and equality minded people will eventually respond to the much needed changes. You need a little love in your heart to do this work, I hope you find it OP.
/r/MensRights26/08/15 08:44 PM

Maybe you are right, I hope to God you are wrong but we are no where near that point. If you are going to do this work in the MHRM you need to do it form a place of love and compassion, these tactics work in modernity because we have a democratic system to make change, lets avail ourselves to that system that was paid for with blood and honor the sacrifice made by men and women to give us that right.

That is what bothers me more that this is on publically funded television. I just want my children's education shows, history shows, nature shows, science shows, government affairs shows, straight news, late at night though provoking documentaries, and classical drama/comedy (generally British). There are many reason women go in debt and it is not all women faults or frivolousness. One major factor I can see why women go in debt and default is as often heads of household spending like food stuffs, expenses for kids, and the things needed to keep her partner and herself working there is huge social pressure to do more with less. This is can easily become an overwhelming task and lead to poor financial decisions. Another thing to consider in male default and the why business is much highe…

1600 incidents per year for a daily ridership of 6.44 million people. Assume half of the ridership is female that is three million people. Work the demographics by thirds for age so one million people in the prime target group per day to be groped. That is 4 incidents a day for a million people or about a .000004% percent chance of getting groped or upshirt photos for the prime target group. I want you to think about this we have street gangs in the US that have killed more people (per annum) in an organized fashion than the IRA during the Troubles (a thirty year conflict). You had to pull out your military to deal with the Troubles and we are not permitted by law to call in the military to deal with organized street gangs in the US that rob us of so many young boys.

Pointing guns at cops in about half the cases and pointing knives in about 15% of the cases so between 60-65% are pretty much justified. You are left with about 200 cases after that now if you just gander through liveleak, WSHH, and youtube for street fights you can see how the additional 200 happens. So maybe you have 10 or so questionable shootings where a decision was made split second to defend the officers life or a innocent persons life. Odds are you have less than 5 truly bad shoot where …

Sadly you do not know what you are talking about and that is one of the major reasons young men no longer know how to conduct themselves during a police encounter for there safety and the officers safety. Plus just start working the database provided in the article and you will see the vast majority of lethal shootings are justified. For example more than half the death the suspect was armed with a firearm and additional 15% had a knife. So about 60% of the suspect had a lethal weapon which pret…

The break down of the US family has many causes besides just feminism. Programs pushed by social conservatives has contributed as well by not keeping pace with the changes in society. It is a designation that individuals and groups can get in many American courts and in similar western nation court, that allows people to have a role in court. Women that make a DV accusation or sexual assault accusation often have third party support paired with them by the court that can act as a proxy/liaison and adviser while women go through the court process and direct women to victim services. Other than her panic attacks, what would you recommend I document? Document every thing keep records on every thing that happens a competent lawyer can use documents to paint a better picture for a family court judge why you should have custody. Start a diary she cannot get to as well. Now for the silver lining. This is the down and dirty of it if you want to have the best shot at custody. Your local bar association generally has a lawyer of the year award and website or magazine, get a consult with his/her office they may recommend you to another firm that is more specialized. Because you are a guy you will need to lay the foundation for a divorce very carefully. Well women's only colleges have served a great historical place in American society, I still think they serve an important role in America's higher education. I would feel something of value was lost if a HBCU found itself being forced to close or a historical Yeshevia or Seminary, and Men's only college was in the same situation. Let's consider that Sweet Briar was founded in 1901 has been ranked highly by Forbes, Princeton, Yale, US news & Report, and was the second college in America to offer…

Get with the reform movement and just do a pin prick to spill one drop. It is not that difficult to get active sex times in a study. The methodology on active sex times has been around from the 50's. That type of snide remark helps to perpetuate the narrative that mens sexuality is gross and should be ridiculed or ignored.

The MRM as I understand it not about denying support to the boys and girls men father, except with parental rights surrender which is not law sadly. The MRM can be about reforming how child support monies should be spent, basically making sure the moeny goes to the child. Still the fact remains that the man in this case has a child and that does come with responsibilities to that child. That is ignorant as well, if you are going to be critical of the Islam at least be factual. The "rational" is humility, men as well are suppose to dress conservatively as well. Jews and Christians also ask that adherents dress modestly. The rub is what is modest can vary by community standards, mores, and the level of religiosity. We also get a lot of unwitting aid from the LGBTQ+ community when members finally started speaking out on the IPV they were having in their relationships. Sadly IPV is vey high in samesex relationships, I believe the rates are higher in the LGBTQ+ community but good data is hard to come by. There was a bit of push back from the LGBTQ+ learership against making IPV known outside of the community for obvious reasons. The LGBTQ+ community has turned a lot of BIG feminisms dogma on its head.

I wish it were that simple but it is not. There must be many factors driving men as a gender in Japan to ignore what would seem a biological imperative to pass on there genetic information. At a very base level we as a species are here to have sex and procreate. The forces at play would entail more than gender roles to overide a very intrinsic human behavior. I take it you have had very little contact with police. If a cops says you are under arrest comply. You are no good to anyone in your life that say you love, if you decide to risk your life to resist arrest. As men we should understand the unwritten rules of society (we as men endure the unwritten rules everyday) while we work to make change. So where do we act? The same thing we do as men mostly endure. There is unwritten rules for men in society and we have to adjust as the rules keep changing. /r/MensRights15/10/14 05:26 PM

It's what the current MRM has been doing. I'm glad the author is talking about what the MRM has been talking about for years. Hell when we have a get together there are bomb threats and fire alarms pulled. It's easier for an LGBTQ+ group to get a space on campus for a lecture than for a Men's Rights group. What does that tell you about how society feels about men and boys and their issues..

/r/MensRights15/10/14 10:37 AM

I read the letter. That was a direct threat, false flag or not it must be taken seriously. The school and police have done what they think is best. In all honesty I wish the school had increased security and gone through with the lecture no one should be chased off campus for what they want to say with the threat of bodily harm. That even includes Anita. One of the aims of the MRM is more open dialogue and debate on the college campus for students, academics, and speakers.

We may not be able to change some peoples opinions of the MRM. It's still the right thing to do to condem this threat, there is nothing wrong with doing the right thing. There is an added bonus that we can influence those that are on the fence concerning the issue MRA's speak out about. If we want things to change we have to be the change we are looking for. This means leading and setting an example. The aims of the MRM are a new way of thinking about men and boys and women and girls who say the…

True some MGTOW see marriage that way and it is hyporbolic to compare it to chattle slavery. This highlights that there are many ways to look at marriage in the MRA movment. For the long term success of the MRA movement marriage law and family law needs to be reformed because people are not going to stop getting married. In any organized system of governance marriage always has a higher priority on strong families and marriage than in singles and cohabitation. Plus I think it would be better if …

Well that is a pretty stupid comment. Also why do you assume the man is a john and not a hooker and the women is hooker and not a john. NO! Some MRA's are MGTOW others want reform in marriage laws, this does not mean MRA's see marriage as prostitution. Most men and women understand the difference between prostitution and a romantic relationship. Often marriage is talked about as a legal contract in MRA discussions . Trying to boil down marriage into prostitution is simplistic and unproductive. I hope that helps. Be Well.

It's basically a human trafficing law "By the act of March 3d, 1875, chap. 141, relating to immigration, it was made a felony, punishable by imprisonment not exceeding five years and by fine not exceeding $5,000, for anyone knowingly and wilfully to …

The Democratic party strongly dislikes coronations as a rule. The last three democratic presidents came out of no where. Obama, Clinton, and Carter all were outsiders to the established political class. LBJ was never suppose to be president and is an anomaly because of the assination. Roosevelt was the last political establishment candidate the Demo…

The MRM is sometimes in conflict with traditionalists as well. Also we disagree with the political left sometimes and the political right some times.

Yeah I knew the red state divorce is claimed to be higher, but I may need to source that carefully. I've always taken that as fact without ever double checking. I figured Utah may be an exception becasue Utah is a special case with it's heavy mormon influence and there seems to be a very very low divorce rate in Mormon community. With SoCal having such a high divorce rate maybe that stat needs to be looked at again. This site reminds me to constantly double check the facts.

Generally, experts we spoke with and studies we consulted agreed that the likelihood of marriages ending in divorce fell somewhere between 40 percent and 50 percent. "Estimates of divorce are around 45%. When you throw in a few percent of couples who separate but never get around to divorcing, the figure of 50% is close," Paul Amato, a professor of family sociology and demography at Pennsylvania State University, wrote in an e-mail. "The probability of divorce is unlikely to rise further. In any…

Care to explain this? MRAs grievances are due to injustice because of patriarchy. Feminism at it's core undermines patriarchy. Men's rights issues would sort themselves out if patriarchy itself is undermined. Due to the nature of patriarchy, women should take the leading role in the movement to undermine it. Men need to step back and let women lead the movement for it to suceed due to the very nature of the movement. Men should be feminists and support feminism and let women take the lead if the…

There are a number of Yeshiva's and Rabinical schools along with Seminary and Pastoral colleges that are men only. You are informed that she is pregnant there is nothing you have to do right now. I would think taking care of yourself is the most important thing, your no good to anyone if you are not OK. The romantic relationship is over. You need to make the mental shift into a new relationship with her. Have you had daily contact with her sense you broke-up?
/r/MensRights20/08/14 09:25 PM
1

It would be better to remove all contact for 72 hours or so the idea of you not being involved in her life get's into her head. If you talk to her everyday the reality of you not being in her life will not sink in. It will feed her abilty to engage in drama and self-destructive behavior.

If you are sure the relationship is over you owe it to her to dispel any notion of getting back together, make sure your social media and social group knows the relationship is over. Because you were not married she will be pretty much in the drivers seat. If you both do talk about how to go forward maybe having Planned Parenthood pamphlets on abortion handy would be useful. Infidelity is a men's rights issue in the sense that she pressured him not to use condoms while she was unfaithfull exposing him to possible STI's and if she became pregnant he could have been a father to a child that was not his IMHO. Dealing with infidelity is a Men's rights mental health issue that is not much disscused. How men view and deal with cheating is very gendered.

So the important question is how do we get men to stop putting themselves in front of an officer's gun? The level of cops killed in the line of duty has dropped because of training and safety equipment. Does the male population need training as well on how to handle a police encounter? Edit: Also the phenomenon of suicide by cop, I assume that is a gendered issue needs to be addressed. Which was not brought up in OP's article.

A whole summer and not one MRA on air. We have been written about in the washington post, los angeles times, new york times, time, usa today, huffpo, newsweek, shown on 20/20, TYT, al-jazeera, feminist publication, twitter hashtags that trended nationally & internationally, facebook pages that trended nationally & internationally and thousands of blogs just a small sample. They always want to write about us very rarely do they talk to us. Hell at the very least the MRM is worth a good chunck of …

This article would not be written if it was not for the MRM. So I will take it. It means the MRM are getting heard, the MRM is starting to drive MSM conversation. The comment section sucks but the dialogue is happening and there are some nuggets of gold. The days hiding male victims is coming to an end. I look forward to the day when I read an article and don't have to do subtraction to figure out how many men were killed. The days of society only thinking of women and children as victims of war…

There are Indian women's police departments that cane men based just on an accusation. Why is this in /r/mensrights? Unstructured free play is good for kids expecially boys. The local police are all about some pedo hysteria. Fathers are important for boys but so are mothers and possibly losing your mother over this can be devestating to boys. Boys that end up in foster care are far worse off than boys who do not (hell there chance of being sexually assualted skyrockets). If a mother can not let her son go to a park unattended with out going to jail, what would happen to a father? …

Dr. Sears foisted a bad bit of advise just like Dr. Oz and people have died. I'm thinking you just might be the type of person to believe in homeopathy as well.

The Biblical reference were to show how common cribs have been through history. Your just dumb at this point babies in baskets are themes in many ancient religions and shows how common the idea was and that most common people of the times know about cribs and baskets and used them. So a piece of advise that has a causation link to preventing SIDS, suffication, and strangulation is well known and had been passed on by doctors for some time and parents trying out co-sleeping has increased infants …

The crib was intended originally to prevent the infant from sharing perhaps the only household bed with the entire family, which might have included multiple other children, and perhaps adults from the extended family. "Seventy-five years ago, the baby box was given to low-income Finnish parents. Many in Finland had no bed for a baby and they placed the infant in the same bed as the parents. Health officials have long warned parents not to place their infants in adult beds because it can put bab…

You're the one who used the term "deviant" which has some pretty clear implications of immorality. Source? That being said, this was rather pointless. I agree with you on this as you can clearly not read. You're a bigoted piece of shit scraping the barrel for reasons to justify your lack of acceptance of people who make innocuous life choices which you don't approve, anyone reading this comment thread can see that. ummm nope upthread I make myself clear.

How does the 70F recommendation square with data from northern Europe where they have both extremely low infant mortality and keep it very hot indoors by American standards - especially in the winter. Source please?

If you're using atypical as your definition, why the objection to homosexuality but not left-handedness? For a time left-handedness was a sign of the devil for some. I'm not kidding you. Also in education using the left hand in writing was wrong some were even hit with rulers on there hands to "correct" this behavior. Batting in baseball did not like lefthaned batters in it's early development. Skaters are called goofy foot if they are left foot dominate. South paws in boxing have troble getting…

smh unnatural=atypical. Being left handed is unnatural for humans even more so for being ambidextrous which is also atypical. At this point human right issues might not be for you if you have this much trouble with words. Instead of complaining what word would you use?

Odd that you fail to account for consent in your examples. "That is why we do not have the law of the jungle, thankfully we have civil law in more advanced societies based on reason." Actually I did address that. Your not reading. Homosexuality is far from "outlier" behavior and is very common I don't think less than 4% is common hell there is a higher percentange of left-handed people than LBTQ persons in the US. SIDS is real. The awarness campaigns reduced infant deaths in the first year of life dramatically now its on the uptick and that trend needs to be halted. A large part of that up tick is related to co-sleeping.

Fathers have kids and infant boys are most often likely to die in the first year of life. Fathers need to be more involved and I feel it is worth sharing.

The recent rise in infant deaths from SIDS, suffication, and strangulation can be traced back to one person a Dr. Sears ( a Dr. Oz type) or as his TV persona is know as Dr. Will. The rates of SIDS had been dropping from the 1950's untill 1986-88 and have increased as his ideas of co-sleeping and attachment parenting the real uptick has been in the last five years as the idea exploded via social media.

Look up the history of cribs they go back to antiquity and even in the developing world those that can afford cribs or bassinets and cradles do. Please educate yourself. Hell Moses was sent down a river in a basket. Finland gives out carboard cribs to expectant mothers their is a reason for this.

More boys die in co-sleeping and fathers need to be made aware of the increase in dead babies. Also you are generalizing the parents that lose there children as being fat lazy smokers, that does not hold up with research if you look into it. I take a long time looking into the threads I post and your under you are wrong on infant respiration and temperature. The APA recommends 70F to reduce SIDS not the a warm environment like lying next to adult bodies, the increasing death rates of infants bea…

Necrophilia is practiced by some animals, killing the male is common in animals after relations, gang rape is a norm in many animal species and some species steal young. Even if you look at the higher primates many behaviors are unnatural. The comparison between human and animal sexuality is stupid. Outlier behavior is outlier behavior. That is why we do not have the law of the jungle, thankfully we have civil law in more advanced societies based on reason.

Oooook. Nevermind the thousands of years that parents have been doing that. That's a rather weak argument. Your fallacy is known as argumentum ad antiquitatem. I would love for you to provide a better counter point to further dialogue. A recent study by investigators at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that the number of US infant deaths from strangulation and smothering in bed quadrupled over the last 20 years. Related to the rise in co-sleeping.

Don't compare human sexuality to animals. It's just dumb. Edit: Just so people know why I think it is dumb. If we think about groups of people being compared to animals two groups quickly come to mind Jews and Blacks. It was dumb then and it's dumb now.

Aside from the loss of a child, there are not many legal penalties that I can find. That does not mean there are not any. There have been a handful of high profile cases, those involved drugs and alcohol in the infants death. Here is a good article about the legal ramifications: http://family-law.lawyers.com/child-abuse-and-neglect/co-sleeping-can-mean-danger-for-babies-and-parents.html Edit: A recent study by investigators at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that the num…

Alimony was a useful insturment for family courts in a bygone era. It needs reform along with the whole family court and family law. I wish the judicial branch had shown restraint and policed itself so that the legislative branch and executive branch did not have to interfere in a the co-equal judicial branch in NJ. Check you local faith community they are alway doing outreach. You are going to be working with religious people if you get in this line of work you might as well start getting the experience now. Also your going to be working with communists, feminists, former drug addicts, hard core atheists, and a whole bunch of other eclectic people. I'm sure you are not aware of the need even in your small North Wales uni. town but it is there.

This is the money payoff BIG feminism was looking for. A system that does not help women or boys but protects colleges and would let "rapist" go free. A jobs program for gender studies graduates. They will be deciding cases behind closed doors away from scrutiny. Ask victims of fraking jobs that have gone bad how that worked out for them. OH!.... wait you can't because of the non-disclosure agreements! The government enacted this nightmare they need to clean it the fuck up and put these cases ba…

It seems we really need a campaign to teach young women how to drink at this point along with not regretting a wild night out on the town. It's time to empower young women in this area. I hope BIG feminism will do something about this, not likely but one can hope. Also as an aside I'm really sick of the drugged drink narrative the numbers just don't hold up let's make young women responsible again.
