My humble home gym might be one of the best investment I've made in my life. I don't follow a strict routine, dont count my reps etc, but I lift everyday. I just go at it as I feel. If it hurts, that's good. Mostly bicep curls, bench presses and lateral raises. I'm far from being shredded but being fit just makes you get the most out of life in any aspect implying direct contact to other human beings.

Personally, I devoted one year to monk mode (2017) where I got away from the city I was living in at the time and moved in a small town in the countryside. In 2018, I moved back in my hometown. Having such a clear spatio-temporal distinction between phase step 1 and 2 helped me, but I don't think it's for everyone. Also, 1 year monk mode was a bit much. 6 months would have been sufficient.
