They're all being overused which makes it hard for people to take you seriously when you bring them up. My STBXW is a toxic, narcissist who gaslights. All she does is turn it around on me when I used to call out her behavior. Kinda like people that use trauma, depression & PTSD when they don't know the true diagnosis. It's invalidating and rude

Get divorced. If she loves you y'all can stay together with some boundaries and compromises. If not you dodged a bullet Good luck

It's nice to read positive posts here. Thanks

She just hid the ring holder? She'll probably hide/destroy or throw away a bunch of your stuff. Get a storage unit & put all important things in it. Paperwork & personal items. She'll only get more immature as this goes on. Wish you well

Document everything. Take videos of ALL your stuff. Should have prepared for months/years like women usually do. Good luck 🤞

Definitely dodged a bullet sir. You should buy a lottery ticket 😜

Sounds like you got out relatively unharmed. No child support, no alimony & get to keep your house. Good luck sir. Hope you learned from all this.

File for divorce. She'll never change & you're in a dangerous situation.
/r/Divorce_Men09/02/23 09:51 AM

Move forward never go backwards. She's never going to change & you tried. Spend the rest of your life doing what YOU want. Already wasted 30 on her. Spend the next 30 on you.

She knows exactly who she is. She also knows exactly who she turned you into. Take care of yourself. She'll probably get more than her half in the divorce anyway. Confuse her with your silence, amaze her with your actions. Good luck brother 👍

No fault state means exactly that. File ASAP & don't agree with anything

After all you've tried divorce seems to be the logical thing to do. You'll never change her. Can only change you. The sooner the better. Good luck

I agree. It's like when you're married for 10-20 years you're not paying attention to all the bullshit about dating because it doesn't pertain to you. I've always had trust issues & I've got a lot of work to do with myself. Just collecting as many tools as I can to help me. Appreciate your view. Thank you & good luck.

Those calculations are estimated. Every case is different
/r/Divorce_Men31/01/23 05:35 AM
4

For example in OH the calculator says you'd pay about $3k a month for 6yrs in alimony alone. I've no idea about CS. I feel for you. Don't make the same mistake twice

Google AZ alimony calculator & then Google AZ divorce laws. Hire an attorney yesterday. Read No More Mr Nice Guy. Good luck sir.

When I met my STBXW 16-17 years ago I was my authentic self. I was living with my grandmother making $9 an hour with no driver's license. I did not have a pot to piss in or one to throw it out of. Every day at work I went in like I had nothing to lose. At the time I met my wife, there were four to five other women also interested in me. So I can fully understand how No More Mr Nice Guy theory works. I felt like I chose the wrong one. But now I'm thinking there isn't the right one. Oh well life g…

By verify you mean background check? I can hear them now "What? Why? You don't trust me? You're paranoid. If you don't trust me we can't hang.

I'm fully aware. I've been diagnosed with cPTSD, GAD, and SUD. I'm codependent & HSP. Should have been in therapy since I was 7. 40years too late. I've got A LOT of work to do. Thanks for your advice.

I've had 2 ex fiance's of 4yrs each & 1 wife of 16yrs. I'm 0-3. Not looking for a 4th. I'm talking about future people not past people

Divorce puts a very nasty taste in someone's mouth. Not sure there's enough mouthwash for me to use to ever think it'll be a good idea. "Oh, I just chose the wrong person"😅😅😅😅😅

I apologize. I didn't research the Utah divorce laws. SAHM doesn't matter what degree she has. Her job is raising kids. Women can be educated & lazy & still get paid. Men can't

She's going to get MUCH more than half. He'll be paying alimony & child support. How many years married, how old are kids. The most important part is HER accustomed to living. He'll have to make sure she can continue living without him better than she lived with him. Sad but true. NEVER GET MARRIED

She's the same person. Two alcoholics & I got sober. The only thing we had in common was beer, food & sex. Take beer & sex out. We all gotta eat.

Well said. I know what I need to do however I'm codependent & used to being the "nice guy" for the last 16yrs. Really wish I hated her

I plan to. I'm currently unemployed without a license and or vehicle. Probably going to have to wait until we sell the house so I'll have $ to start fresh. Thanks for the advice

Thank you. I'm going to be looking into therapy after the divorce. It's quite expensive & I have no income at the moment. Gonna start rebuilding after the divorce.

Can't be a dick. My attorney said be nice, don't pick a fight & stay put. It's kinda hard to be nice and a dick at the same time. Avoiding her seems to help. Thanks for your advice
/r/Divorce_Men29/01/23 03:05 PM

She abandoned you & your kids. If the roles were reversed you know damn well you'd be paying child support & alimony. Her paying child support seems reasonable
/r/Divorce_Men29/01/23 03:53 AM
7

Give her $4k in alimony & she'll give you $2k in child support. Or you'll give her $2k in alimony & she'll give $0 child support

That's all good. Was thinking SSI/disability. The most I've ever made in the 16 year marriage was $32k back in 2017. She's made more $ than I the entire marriage

Kind words of wisdom my friend. My thoughts exactly
/r/Divorce_Men27/01/23 11:20 PM

Paid retainer with borrowed $. Unemployed & not planning on getting work anytime soon. Better chances of getting spousal support when she makes $52k & I make $0. The attorney knows my situation. Can't get blood from a turnip

My attorney was shocked after she filed. He said "what does she think she's going to get?" I said she's an entitled narcissist that thinks she'll get everything. Married 16 years & I already knew she had a 15yr old & was fixed. That's why I married her. Thank George we never had kids

She's allowed to drink as she wants. She doesn't get caught with ovis. She stays out all night/weekend. She's really lucky or knows how to get out of them. I've had 2 ovis in the last 5 years. She drinks & drives ALL the time. Just doesn't get caught. I'll record her if she gets nasty.
/r/Divorce_Men24/01/23 02:15 AM

I understand. I've been sober for about 9 months. I know alcohol will not help my situation. She's an alcoholic & I'm around alcohol daily & putting up with her drinking and partying, staying out all night/weekends. And trying to get me to get drunk. During therapy I've learned that I'm a codependent highly sensitive person. We both agree divorce is absolutely needed. She just feels she's entitled to everything she wants. Toxic narcissist she is.

Thanks. That's what I thought. Started broke & will stay broke. It'll all work out

We're in the early stages. Have only had one pre-trial so far. 2nd one in March. My attorney said if we wanted to sell the house we needed to do it ASAP. I told him we wanted to wait until spring/summer to sell. I think he wants us to sell now so I'll have money to give to him. 😆 We can get divorced & still live together for a minute as long as the divorce papers state WHEN we sell house the equity gets split 50/50
/r/Divorce_Men23/01/23 04:08 PM
2

Sorry to hear that. I'm confused on how people get divorced if they're broke or one spouse is broke & one isn't. Uncontested I can understand but if it's contested I don't get it. I've was diagnosed with PTSD, GAD & SUD back in 2018. I have no idea what this divorce is going to do. I might have to try SSI/DISABILITY as well. Hope things get better for you

I've been researching divorce in Ohio for over a year. Knew it was coming
/r/Divorce_Men23/01/23 03:11 PM

She said she hired an attorney because she doesn't want to pay spousal support. My attorney said I could probably keep the house & she won't have to pay spousal support. Next court date is March
/r/Divorce_Men23/01/23 03:10 PM

Not an ex-con. We're both alcoholics. I just got caught driving. Got an OVI last April. I'm wanting 50/50 split & spousal support.

Attorney said stay put, don't piss her off & get in a fight & get arrested. Hard living together while I have no vehicle, job or money. I'm her house boy who has to kiss her ass & walk on eggshells.
/r/Divorce_Men23/01/23 02:51 PM

Right. I'm taking pictures & videos of things. I'm unemployed at the moment. On probation & in treatment for substance use disorder. Also been diagnosed with PTSD, GAD & SUD. She decided to file at my lowest moment. Typical I know. I begged her to wait until I got my license back, car & job. She didn't. She's made more $ than I are whole 16yr marriage. No kids

Be careful. Watch what she does not what she says. If you just filed last week hopefully she doesn't change her mind about what she wants from the divorce. Good luck

When you speak to your attorney they can look up to see if she's filed anything yet

No. She filed 1st. I hired my attorney after. We can't agree on anything. She's dishonest. Pretty sure it's contested.

Thanks. The attorney said not to move out but I can't afford to until after selling the house. She has 2 cars I've got 0. Can I get one of the cars before the divorce is final? She's the breadwinner of the marriage.

If she makes bank and she cheated why is she not paying spousal support? I'm really confused on why it matters what genitals you have when it comes to spousal support.

That's good. I (46M) started freaking out when STBXW(51F) filed back in October. Married 16 yrs. I knew it was coming but I begged her to wait. I got OVI last December, jail time, house arrest, scram bracelet & IOP treatment. Told her to wait until I got my license back, car & job. She hit fast forward instead of pause. She's a functioning alcoholic parting like a rock star. We both hired attorney's, gonna sell house this summer. No kids. Split equity 50/50 and I'll probably be getting spousal s…
