I can’t wait to just have it be an after thought. Something that was. Instead of clogging up some very valuable head space.

Already in therapy! Trying to move forward. I also start my new career next week. I’m hoping that’ll help me really move forward.

I guess I just feel pressure to feel better for a variety of reasons. I know it’s getting old for my friends. They’re always saying that I have so many great things to look forward to and they’re right! But it also leaves me feeling as though I’m annoying them. So right now, I’m buttoning my lips. Maybe that’s intensifying the sadness.

Thank you. I particularly enjoy the wave analogy as ocean swimming is one of my favorite things to do. I’m trying my hardest.

Yes!!! I love this comment! And yes, I’m actually surprised by how not bothered I am. Like you said, it’s an initial stomach drop, but after digesting it, I was like....I feel sorry for his future ex haha. I’ll find someone who will love me for me, but right now I want to just love myself.

So true! Haha I love that. I definitely feel bad for whoever swipes right. I dodged a bullet. Just feels gross and weird ya know? But I’m better off. Thanks for commenting ☺️

Thank you so much! Trying to stay positive and focused. And I agree. When the relationship ends, it ends. I’ve learned a valuable lesson about letting go.

I did something similar to this. I wrote a letter to him that I’ll never send. It starts off saying the things I miss and then what I did was take those same things and write how they really happened. It helps reveal that things aren’t as great as I’m remembering in my head. A realistic letter rather than the fantasy I’ve created in my head.

This is so true. Why bother putting so much thought and energy into someone who obviously isn’t doing that for me. I deserve better than that.

Thank you so much for the support. I am happy to report that I have still NOT contacted him. That urge to do so has passed for now and I hope every week that goes by it’ll just keep getting better. I think getting passed the holidays will certainly help as well

Thank you for this great response. I have been doing all the right things. I started therapy, I have been exercising every day, I’ve been applying to jobs, and have even snagged a few interviews. Part of me feels that the whole pandemic is making this seem much more catastrophic than it really is. Like if this was normal times and I could have gone out with a few girlfriends and get the lead out, I’d probably be a little more further along in the healing process. But because I spent so much time…

As always, excellent advice. Thank you for sharing your story as well. You’re right. I need to give myself more time. Of course we always want to feel better RIGHT NOW but time is key. I have to just ride the waves.

Hey there. I think I can safely say that MANY people have gone through this. Especially being 22, it’s probably not going to be the last time it happens either. When you share something as intimate as sex, it can be easy to become attached or “obsessed” like you mentioned. Sometimes finding the strength and self-respect in yourself to walk away is the hardest part. But it’s crucial. The best advice I can give is NOT to be intimate with him anymore because it hurts you too much. Casual sex isn’t …

Thank you for replying. I keep going through phases. Self-blaming mixed with missing him. I know in my heart I wouldn’t want to be with someone like this but it’s going to take time to really believe it. I feel like he was just looking for an excuse to leave. He seemed so amazing at first. It’s just crazy.

Thank you. Today was weird. Sometimes I was almost okay and other times, water works. I think that’s progress though. One day at a time.

Thank you for replying I believe that I know all this in my logical mind, but I am hurting very bad here.

I think this is a really useful comment. I too, can usually pick up on something that doesn’t feel right. It all just seemed so rash and sudden. Do I wish I could take back the comment? Of course. But I never thought in a million years he’d leave me over it. As much as it hurt now, I’m thinking in the end, it just opened the door to bigger and better opportunities. It’s a pandemic, no one is feeling great right now. But I guess he just wanted someone who had no insecurities so that his insecurit…

I did. I cut him out completely. I took him and all his friends off my social media and deleted his number so I couldn’t even contact him if I wanted to. As much as I’d like to believe everything was fine and maybe the stars just weren’t aligned...his rash behavior just seemed over the top. Perhaps he just didn’t care about me enough to want to reassure me every now and then. Shit, it’s not like I’d show up at his job or house. I never snooped, I never tried to get into his phone. Nothing. Every…

That’s how I was feeling. Like wow this one little incident through out all these great times and that’s all it takes? I feel like I was clearly missing something.
