Hello FDS community. I posted on here on Tuesday regarding the break up I experienced (post title: Need some empowerment. Had my heart broken today. Posted 12/01/2020. Long story short, boyfriend of 4 months left me on Tuesday). Everyone was WONDERFUL. While the pain is real and I have to go through it, I figured I’d reach out to all you wonderful folks for some further words of encouragement.

I have thrown myself into job applications, spending time with friends (safely), trying to get as much rest as possible, and will even be starting therapy today for other issues I have been experiencing as well as to process this break up. It helps. But sometimes the sadness is just so overwhelming. As I reflect on all of this, I’ve realized I’ve never been broken up with. I’ve only had three serious relationships in my life, and I had ended them all for one reason or another. So this rejection I’m feeling is all new for me, and perhaps explains why I’m feeling so lost and hurt (perhaps even more so than I really should). I have faced some real trauma in my life, and have had great losses that I never thought I’d see the end of, and still managed to pull through. So why the heck is a stupid, 4 month relationship where we never even said “I love you” yet, derailing me so much?

Sadness is to be expected. But I feel like I’m taking it harder than I should. What do you think?
