Nice to see someone else on here that's military, I'm in the Navy. Usually if a woman is giving you permission to do something like that, it's to clear their conscience about something they've done or are about to do that's similar. Good on you for calling it out. The legal system is complete garbage, I never want to deal with it again.

Naturally, I do want to be married and share my life with someone but it feels like a fantasy at this point with how broken the institution of marriage is. People don't uphold vows and divorce is an absolutely miserable process where you run the risk of losing everything, all because the other person gets bored one day or isn't feeling it anymore.

I'm lucky I'm getting off easily because we weren't married long, don't have any assets, and my wife doesn't really want anything financially from me. Can't say that I would be so fortunate in the future.

I actually made another comment here saying that marriage was better off when it was run by the church. I spoke with a priest about marriage and he mentioned about how when the state took over on marriage it basically messed everything up, that's when it clicked for me.

That's where I'm at. I feel like I've had too many bad experiences and seen too many things to ever be happy again.

Everything in our society is a scam pretty much. Makes sense that divorce isn't any different.

We all react differently I guess. I just have zero drive to pursue anything with women right now. If someone was interested in me and went out of their way maybe but I just want to focus on me right now.

The concept of the nuclear family has been under attack for awhile now unfortunately.

Call me crazy but I barely even want that.

Marriage was better off when the church ran it. Once the state got involved it became a business deal. I can see the point in a social one for the non-religious though.

I'm trying to get my ducks in a row now because when I start expressing that I want the get primary custody shit is going to hit the fan.

A prenup would be a requirement for me.

Honestly that was one of my last straws. I would drop anything for these kids and she's out getting drunk while our daughter has a fever and was puking.

My soon to be ex-wife has absolutely no self accountability and thinks everything wrong in the marriage was on me. Sounds like a pretty common story.

Relationships should never have "tests." You're better off without her.

Yeah I'm definitely keeping things calm and not letting her know. I also gotta not sign the separation agreement because it's BS.

It would require a level of work that she has neither the capacity nor the willingness to put in.

I share a similar sentiment. I don't regret the kids, I regret the woman I had them with. Sounds like this is the move for me.

Have you found that there are women ok with you having a kid already and not having anymore?

How has it affected relationships afterwards?

I understand where you're coming from but she's done nothing but strangle all the love I had for her out of her. However I see her is due to her own actions. I'm trying to just see her as just the kids' mom but she was also my significant other for pretty much all of my adult life until she decided to move in with another man. Pretty hard to just turn emotions for her off like that.

Yeah, my wife was the one that started it and I didn't want it at all. My tolerance for her bullshit is waning though and I've realized I really haven't been the problem for most of our marriage like I thought I was. It's going to be more of a loss for her than it is for me. I'm becoming a better father, getting closer with God, working on my fitness, losing weight, going to therapy, playing guitar again, learning a language, pursuing my goals in my career finally, starting online college again …

Cleaning up after the kids leave is the worst.

I'm saddened by what I've lost but looking forward to what I'm gaining. I can focus more on my career, being a father, and myself now. Eventually I'll probably have a healthier marriage hopefully but I'm starting to feel at peace being alone for now.

That's completely understandable. I met a girl tonight that was friends with who I was going out with and it was the first time I've been able to just think how cute a girl was without feeling any guilt since my separation started. I don't feel anywhere close to ready for another relationship though even though my wife told me to start dating to get over her which means she's probably screwing around.

That's where I was. I was unhappy with my life but I found happiness in my wife and kids, regardless of her and I's problems. She's just throwing it all away because she's unhappy and blames me for it. We've been separated and she still seems miserable. I honestly feel happier for the most part. If that doesn't say anything about our marriage I don't know what does. I still feel down at times so it's a rollercoaster. I just hate that my kids are going to be worse off in almost every way. I perso…

I'm feeling this too. I get absolutely nothing out of her yet I'm unable to find interest in other women still.

Trying to figure this out too. I'm frustrated and saddened at my wife for destroying our family for basically nothing while blowing up her own life. I don't see what she's even gaining out of it and she's putting herself before the kids in my opinion.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
