This. Also, I have appliances older than me that were passed down and work like a charm. I have other (male) family members that this happened, too.

Don't tell him. Go on a walk. Jk. It is something that comes with time. From what I understand, you're just "dating" or seeing each other at this moment right? Unless you've had a discussion to be completely exclusive, you're not. Doesn't matter if he's HV or not. Why would you pledge loyalty to someone you hardly know?

That may be good advice but Matthew Hussey is one of the names on the FDS "Sex & Dating Advice Scammers to WATCH OUT for!" list.

I watched the films. I'm not as big of a fan as you might think. However, what I am is a researcher. I'd recommend you watch the films (or any film for that matter) before making arguments based on out of context clips.

This MJ does have things going on. They show some in the first and second. They show a lot more in this third one. To be honest with you, the reason why Tobey's film had the time to was because those were Spiderman films. There was no MCU. With these new ones and an MCU, they don't have time. They have so many new people to introduce while also trying to integrate other films and people into it so that all movies run on the same timeline. They could show more of MJ's life in this movie because i…

No. The original MJ dated LVM. On her wedding day, she left the man at the altar and went after Peter. She may not be a doormat but she is certainly always kidnapped to get Peter's attention. Edit: clarity

I do understand the point that you are trying to hit but since you said that you didn't watch the films, I'll add some details without any serious spoilers. I think your post is biased. In Tobey's world, Harry went to Midtown High because he flunked out of every other private school. As the movies go on, he exhibits more and more LV traits. If we take his situation at face value (and not try to give him the benefit of the doubt) overtime, you see an immense amount of LV traits. MJ is Peter's wea…

Why did YOU apologize? He hurt your feelings. Part of FDS is being strong and sticking to your own standards and beliefs. It sounds like he manipulated you, swindled you, lied about it, dumped the thought of you, and then didn't apologize at all. He got away with it. Next time, please just block and delete. And don't worry about your friend group. Honestly, if they really did support you, this would not break your friendship.

I know a lot of men like this. From what I can tell, they suck. Suck at sharing their emotions, at planning dates, at being generous, etc. It doesn't make any sense to me. They also hate it when others have fun without them. If they don't have someone to share their misery with, they die.

I told a neighbor (we're not dating) in casual conversation that I am used to getting treated very well and that people buy me gifts, take me out for fun, and more. Didn't see him for a while and he came back to tell me later that he thought about what I said and realized that he could do more in his relationships with friends and family. Now he is spending more time with them and doing more. If he wants to, he will. No amount of screaming or begging will change a man.

Depends. I'm an introvert so naturally I'm observant. I use that to my advantage, stop talking, and just look around without making eye contact. Makes him get uncomfortable and the date ends. For me, it works.

Opening doors and paying on the first date... I know that we all have different standards but I will say that this is the bare minimum. Good on you for you for realizing that there were red flags. In terms of bringing him home, I have not brought anyone to my place in years. Only the maintenance man comes by and even then I only call him over as a last resort. Please be safe because you never know who you are inviting into your sanctuary.

Sure! My advice is to make time to read materials on boundaries such as "The New Codependency" by Melody Beattie. In my life, I started being more firm. For instance, say my friends ask me to hang out with them last minute. First of all, I made up my mind to stay home that evening, second of all, I am not a fan of last minute invites. I am not desperate to hang out. They had hours to plan and I refuse to be added last minute like an afterthought.

Know yourself, know your worth I used this post and applied it to friends/workplace. I also read "The New Codependency" by Melody Beattie. With that in mind, I set up several boundaries/standards such as: I will not date nor be friends with people that avoid responsibility (personal, financial, physical, etc), excessively party, are in a terrible mood all the time, and more. I realized that I only have so many hours for myself and I cannot manage the time to help another person manage their own …

Being an Immovable Mover Always give him less than he asked for In terms of being hard to read, that's a character trait of mine. It is not purposeful--as in I am not going out of my way to be--I just don't see the need to spill my guts all the time. I also don't tell people where I am going to be or what my plans are. From what I've been told, I am hard to read but also spontaneous.

The Joy Luck Club encouraged me to leave my last relationship and never look back. What I loved about it was that all of the women were showing their pain and knew something was wrong. Even when they tried to gaslight themselves, a sign always came to prove they were right. Harold was horrible to her.

I thought this was someone I know but their ages are a few years off. The people I know, same thing. The man is lying about debt/expenditures and his salary and the girl won't leave because she hates being alone. He just popped the question! Ladies, we don't say to vet just because 'we want to hear ourselves talk.' It is to avoid situations like these when all that glitters is not gold.

Unless you have your own separate bathroom, it's pretty easy to keep in mind how many times someone goes to the toilet. Maybe because you need to use it before you get ready for work and you know he uses it at 8AM every day so you try to figure out a plan. Or you come back from the gym and notice the bathroom was just used. Over time, you figure it out. This goes for family members sharing a toilet and flatmates also. I don't even like mini-golf with friends. Also kayaking sounds horrible for a date whether you used a double or single. You're right that it can be stressful with the weather and also with what kinds of sea life exist. I can't answer your question. I don't know why they choose these. For two bowel movements a day and he is using a whole roll??? Leave him. He doesn't know how to wipe his ass. There are probably problems elsewhere, too. Edit: How are their pipes not clogged daily? Regardless of wipes or TP, toilets can only take so much. So that means he is wasting water, too, with the amount he uses. IF it is not a toilet but another system, this man still needs to seek help.

Good question. The books are meant as helpful guides rather than "you must do X to have X and that is final." Also with this man, he made it clear early on that he doesn't want a relationship. Yet you pursued him and are still trying for a relationship. I think he too is happy for the companionship and the fun. Commitment talks happen around 2 to 3 months, naturally. In your case, it technically should happen soon. HVM/LVM/ZVM all know what they want. It's better to judge his character and actio…

He was five years older and proposed to her at 19. They are divorced now. Also, as much as I would like to agree that the things on her list were near 'impossible,' not for him. He had connections and money. It was more a challenge for him for the fun of it than it was as a legitimate challenge.

Short answer: Not really. Long answer: If you read Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson, these men are externalizers. Meaning the loneliness they experience on the inside (from childhood and carried into adulthood) is often exhibited by acting out with casual sex, destructive situations and relationships, drug abuse, midlife crises, and more. They seek out as many people as they can to help soothe that loneliness. An externalizer tends to burn bridges and get frust…

I was in your shoes a few months ago and I'm glad I'm here. It is truly empowering. I used to have so much confidence when I was a little girl but it was forced out of me. Men judge us in music taste, too! I found a subset of men who follow artists but only because the artist is attractive. It's one thing if the singer has good music AND they are attractive but it is another thing to seek out female artists only based on their attractiveness and youth.

Semi-related and anecdotal story: I know someone who went to one of those parties (in Italy as well) and they ended up making out with a man, contracted a horrible ailment, and had to seek medical care. Turns out she made out with a ca*nibal and that was why. Not saying this happens every time (or more than even .0000001% of the time) but whenever I think of kink parties, I have in the back of my head that they are off-limits because of this. Leftovers. The ambiance is 'nice,' the decor is weird but 'upscale,' and the experience is like dipping your foot into a 4-star restaurant without fully committing. Then to top it off you get two meals (the meal you eat at the restaurant and the doggy bag you take home) for roughly less than or equal to the price of two meals at a fast food place. Translation: He feeds you, saves money, you get leftovers, and now is hoping he gets pleasured because of it.

It sounds like he's been on this trail before. A lot of trails have no potable water. Given the fact that he is from this area and KNEW this, he should have turned around and either a) not done the hike or b) went to the nearest gas station and bought water. In addition, CHILDREN won't even leave another person behind. This man is wicked and cruel for continuing on without her.

I knew a LV girl when I was younger who would make friends with rich(er) people because she knew that they would pay for things for her. Or she would purposely "forget her wallet" at home. Because of her, I can notice this really quickly in men now. It is manipulative and abusive.

That is absolutely disgusting that he doesn't like to change out of his scrubs. I don't care if he is a receptionist or the chief of surgery. I have never met a person who works in the industry that doesn't either a) change in the locker room or b) change at home ASAP. And he likes to dress 'comfortably'?? Most medical people love the perks of a steady career and steady/more income so they buy new clothes, new bags, new gadgets, etc. This guy is either a liar or he is the LOWEST of LVM.

How did you, so easily might I add, take the thoughts/feelings I've had over the past month and write them so concisely? I 200% agree with you! The lack of support young women get in the field of personal finance and boundaries is mind-boggling. Rather than teach a woman how to survive, have strong boundaries and courage, she is instead taught to just get a husband.

I tried once to drop an ex but I had a ZVW friend at the time. She told me to not block him because that would "show that he made me angry." She said I should post all what I'm doing so that it would make him jealous and that he would know that I'm doing so much better than him. I ended up blocking and deleting them both and now all that anxiety I had trying to balance everyone else's emotions is gone!

You need to remember your mother. Hear me out: As you grow older, you may move out and doubt your decision thinking "Maybe my mom wasn't so bad" or "You know, my situation wasn't so bad." What almost ALWAYS happens is that people will get into a slippery slope of erasing most memories (some positive, mostly negative) when they leave home. Which sets them up for failure. The doubts you have will manifest into you attempting to give your mother another chance to prove herself. Another chance for h…

Because that would lead to them expecting money from me or for me to foot the bill for something I hear you on that one and it sucks. They don't directly ask me for money per se but they will put me in awkward situations where it becomes a tit for tat thing. (Ie. They pay for dinner and I just think it's kind of them. Then they turn around and ask me to do a big favor because paying for dinner is cheaper than hiring a professional).

They just want the emotional companionship from the female friendships and if he gets a gf that fills the void he has, he'll leave the friendships behind. On a very basic level (I don't know the whole story about their finances) this should be affordable. Many jobs are moving to remote or hybrid work so perhaps this really is doable for her. Not only that but if they have no airline loyalty, they can travel hack and get cheap flights. It was a luxury I looked forward to when I was growing up to have a decent mattress and a bed frame and now that I can afford them, I would never trade them for anything. The fact that these men are doing mental gymnastics to not have one, is beyond me. 'Having little bits of poverty around is great for sniffing out them shallow bitches,' wrote intensely_human." Poverty isn't cute. It is a plague on families and a cycle that takes serious effort to break. No thank you.

There's a thing where people think doing "marriage" duties while dating means that your relationship is getting deep. It's false intimacy.

One major thing I did was to learn to get out of a poverty mindset. For example, I used to buy cheap shoes that would last me 6 months. Then I would go back to the store and buy more 6 month shoes (x5). At the end of it, I spent more money on 6 month shoes than it would have cost to just buy one pair of lasting shoes. This bleeds into other areas of your life, too, like in health, school, jobs, relationships, etc. I had a friend who was a complete mess. She didn't value me, was into all sorts of…

People need to stop doing medical tourism. Most (cosmetic) surgical recoveries are 3+ weeks and require raised limbs, no heavy lifting, bed rest, or something else. Instead, these people fly to foreign lands, get the surgery and fly back almost immediately to recover back home. In the event something needs correction or a second look, which is really common, you have to go to ANOTHER doctor in your country and pay MORE money. And the thing about plastics is that you can only do so much surgery b…

Short answer: Not really. Long answer: Dr. Ramani believes that it is pretty hard to change who you are especially if you are a narcissist. Part of the reason is that they lack empathy. She's worked with some that have "changed" but they go three steps forward and two steps back in progress and get frustrated with this. Since narcissists are not good with frustration, a lot give up. So the recovery is slow, slow, slow, and then they give up. It is better for them to be aware of their lack of emp…

I stopped wearing anything remotely tight. I normally wore tracksuit bottoms and for tops, it was shirts/pullovers 1 or 2 sizes too big. I also hated pink and therefore I was not "one of those girls." I didn't want men to look at me, yes, but I also had "friends" who made faces when I did wear nicer clothes because they didn't like any attention off of them. I thought by me not wearing dresses and tighter clothes that my friends would have a better chance with them. Not true! After 10 years of t…

I think I watched an interview where an A&R guy or another music exec was talking about music and he said the reason why you hear so much 'pickme' music is because it sells the most. The artist might truly have those feelings but they try to mass-produce it because they need top hits to survive as a company. This is why you hear people say some of the most ridiculous things like "I would dive into the bottom of the sea and jump up to the moon just to be with you."

In modern times, a lot of societies have moved away from the man holding the position of power in a household. By that I mean the man would be the only one to vote, hold the money, make major decisions, and more. In some societies today, women still cannot do those and go to council meetings where everything is decided by the men. So for them, being married would hopefully let them have their decisions heard through their husbands. It also gives them respect because unmarried women are seen as l…

When you level up, you assert boundaries, start communicating better, and most importantly, become more of yourself. By leveling up, you are seeking authenticity. There is a thing that when you seek authenticity, your relationships will suffer because people are used to the version of you that THEY see YOU as, not as what YOU see as YOU. So when you start 'changing' on them and assert yourself, they are taken aback. Keep on leveling up and being you. You might be alone but it is far better than …

They're not liberating. No one should feel 'brave' for posting a thirst trap. One way to feel empowered and courageous is by taking on new tasks, maybe failing at them, but at least getting back up to try again. Learning that language in advance is extremely tough, too. I speak several languages and the vocabulary, I have. However, each society speaks the language differently with their slang, tones, and body language. If I say "I'm pissed" in the UK, in the US, that means something completely different. Suddenly the Western world is all about it when other parts of the world have been doing it forever and getting shat on for it. Either way, polyamory is definitely a choice. I also think it's funny how this person launched into "the good grammar" because sounding academic on Reddit will make you sound legit. Lol as if.

Getting a bachelor's made me realize that men who have advanced degrees have the motivation to better themselves or contribute to the world on a large scale. And not only do they have motivation, but they execute their ideas as well. I am tired of dating men who all they do is talk about the future but never do anything to get there. I don't think this is elitist at all.

I totally agree. This statement would have started an uproar at my previous job lol. For me a college degree signifies yes, the educational part, but also the ability for them to strategize, think for themselves, network, understand different ideologies, etc. It is more than just a piece of paper.

One time I sleuthed on the other r e d p I l l and like subs and saw something about this. The men agreed that there is no wall for women because they can get it at any age. They may not have choices like younger women, but they still do have lots of choices. On the other hand, they also agreed that men have a wall and it's when they start being less attractive and more women start to say no to them. So honestly, it's projection.

There's a theory called "prisoner's dilemma." In basic terms: if two (or more) rational people are in a situation, making a decision based on self-interest is not the best choice. So all parties have to make a decision to protect themselves oftentimes at the expense of the other participants. Believe it or not, both men and women who groom themselves are in this game. Since people tend to like the most attractive person, biologically, that is deep-rooted in physical appearance. Whether or not th…

If she doesn't get in this or next year and has ANOTHER go, her husband will leave her behind when he matches to most likely an out-of-state hospital for residency. This girl is not thinking straight.

I don't know how old you are but you sound young enough that you might think this is a situation you can skirt around or 'live with.' The longer you endure this, he could escalate. Since you are a first-generation immigrant, I am guessing that marriage might be important in your culture? If your father does not escalate, he may find a partner that is like this for you to be with and then that man WILL escalate. Or subconsciously, you might find someone like this and experience this trauma all ov…

You just brought up a show to watch in my list that I forgot about. Thanks! I also really like Atypical. At best they have a stem job and nothing else going for them in their life If that ain't the truth. They have a STEM job, think they made it, and then it ends there. That is it. They might have a hobby like gaming or picking up cooking but having that job is literally it for them.

I hate when people say 'romantically compatible' = sex. Romantic compatibility lies closer to unconditional love than it does sex. Wasn't it Lundy Bancroft that said don't go to couples therapy with an abuser? Not saying everyone who watches porn is abusive. But it is pretty rare for someone to get caught and then immediately say "Yes, I'll go to therapy with you." There have probably been talks, gaslighting, narcissistic behaviors, etc. I feel as though porn might not be the only problem in the relationship. You are not yourself in couples therapy. You have a third party there and are more likely to dial down things.
