Negging, BrUtAl HoNeSTy, backhanded compliments, no emotional intimacy, lack of boundaries, and so much more. If you do not like these, then pack your bags and go!
No amount of walking on eggshells or weakening your boundaries will make this person love you more. No amount of lessening yourself to lift the other person up will make them respect you. No amount of accepting their demeaning comments of you or other people will make that person cherish you.
Stop sticking around while hoping that one day, with all the times you've put them first, anticipated their needs, or been a: therapist, mommy, main chick AND side chick π€ͺ, chef, doctor, lawyer, professor, private investigator, chauffeur, or bank to this person, that they will love you more.
Consider that this person will always have themselves. THEY are supposed to regulate their OWN emotions. THEY are supposed to know when things hurt OTHER people. THEY are supposed to treat others the way THEY want to be treated.
If they put the pressure on you to do these or tell you that "I need someone to help me with my emotional side..." LIES. Each time they are joyous when a new video game releases, get frustrated when things don't go their way, sulk, rage, THOSE ARE THEIR EMOTIONS PROCESSING. They don't need your help to process them. What they really want is an emotional punching bag.
You can let them know all you want about how these things hurt you or how you want more affection or how you feel sad when they act so well in public but treat you like trash in private. Tell them. If they really did care, they would take a step back, reflect, and take steps to permanently adjust. If they don't, they might change for long enough to hook you back in again.
YOU have a responsibility to treat yourself with respect. YOU can leave.
Think about childhood. When you were playing with your friends and having a good time but then some notorious bully comes and kicks dirt into your eyes. Would you invite them to play with you? Would you share your snacks with them? Would you invite them to your birthday party?
The answer is no. Oftentimes you would tell an adult, your friends would stick up for you, and you or the bully would leave the situation.
Bullies still exist in adulthood.
NEVER feel bad for leaving a situation that does not serve you.
