I tried but he left for court and won't be back until Monday. Oh definitely she will show no mercy, I think I'll report it to the police.

$0 alimony but I took her debt's share (about 20k)

I ended up paying $1000/month because they use the net pay in the calculation and they don't deduct child care payments, so that's why it's higher than what I expected, but it's still okay :)

You'll never get closure from her, did she cheat on you? You should start therapy yesterday brother, best of luck to you! Dm if you need support from a guy who just settled in mediation last week, and had his freedom back!!

My God bro this sounds exactly like my ex lmfao She called me yesterday at least 10 times and left so many texts, talking about "it's an emergency". When I got around calling her back, it was, as I already expected, not an emergency at all. She needed $20 for pads because she's just stared her period, so I asked her: "Can't you ask your bf? because I don't think paying for your pads falls under money I should provide for our kids".

She'll realize that her heart is rotten and she'll never be happy with no one as she's unhappy with her own self. I know that because my stbx ex is dating some simp loser she's dated and dumped a decade ago. And to make the situation even sadder and more pathetic and desperate, he rents a house in bumfu*k with 4 other roommates lol

It's so funny to me that a lot of marriages that end in divorce have these elements: Love-bombing in the beginning to mask her true self. Expects you to make her "happy". Leaves you to find happiness or finds herself or needs space (or all of the above) Starts dating (monkey branching) either before the divorce, during the divorce or right after it. Sometimes even comes crawling back to "work things out" right after monkey-branching when she's realized that the grass ain't that greener as she th…

Although extremely hard in the case of a cheating ex, I found that biting your tongue is the best technique to use with her to get a good divorce outcome (while she's still in the for of her affair). Budget, inflate your expenses and stop giving her money. Is the a sahm?

Do NOT. My stbx wife left me to "find happiness" and "find herself" whatever that means, then she came back to "work things out". When I asked her why we should fix our marriage, she said because of the kids. That's when I told her no, I don't wanna reconcile with you. The main reason I moved on with my divorce is her betrayal, but staying for the kids while you're miserable is a very unhealthy choice (for you and your kids), trust me brother.

You know what's funny is that I didn't even mind that. But I also had time to reflect and I realized that I'm giving my all (I meant our vows 'through thick and thin, until death do us part') but she was half-assin. So that's why I pulled the plug (I can forgive a lot of things, but not betrayal). You know what I just realized as I'm typing this, sometimes you read those posts about men who are still hung up on their stbx-wife (even though sometimes she might've cheated). I'm glad I'm not in tha…

Same here. A lot of trauma and baggage. Took a chance on her because we loved each other but she couldn't do anything to fix our marriage. Said she wanted "space" and stayed at her parents. Used that time to reconnect with exes and get active on dating apps. Funny part is that she backpedaled and came back to my house to "work things out". Asked her if she's still talking to any other men, she said no. When I found out that she lied, I told her to kick rocks. The "friend" she reconnected with tu…

My stbx wife started dating her current bf before she even told me she's started the divorce process. She has a chronic illness. The other day her mom called to tell me she's been admitted to the ER, I felt my heart smile lol All I wish is that she dies from the complications of her disease but I'm actually glad I'm getting divorced from her because it feels like getting rid of a tumor (no pun intended haha)

Oh yeah she told me she was just too emotional when she left my house and she didn't mean a lot of that stuff. I don't really care to know because she was a really good actress. My first court date is next month and I honestly can't wait for my divorce to be finalized so that I don't have to deal with her :)

If you can believe it, she described me as the worst person she's ever dated to her ex. Me, the man whom her parents told me they were so happy that she found a nice guy (and not a loser), even my ex told me that I saved her from her toxic environment (she got raped a few months before I met her, and she was also gonna commit suicide shortly after that incident). But yeah, what you said is really insightful, thank you bro!

Go figure lol My stbx wife told one of her exes that she's never been herself around me. Meanwhile, when we first met, she told me that I'm the best person she's ever met, and she fell head over heels for me. She also described all her exes as losers and simps (most of them cheated on her, one was a gambler, one was as old as her parents, one had sex with his step-sister, and she found out that the last one was actually married with kids haha) Her current bf (was an ex) rents a house in the midd…

I wouldn't say it was a main cause, but definetly a contributing cause. My stbx wife is dumb enough to believe that those reels couples make on fb and tiktok are real. Also, some of those influencers with no professional expertise, giving pieces of advice on topics they have no mastery of (ie relationships, marriages...).

Sorry bro. Nope, that's a load of bs. You can hate him if you want. But it's your stbx wife who you should really hate. If she was unhappy, she could've asked for a divorce and then started dating this guy after her divorce is finalized (out of respect).

She definitely have someone in mind (or even started seeing him behind your back) Did she hit you with any of these: "I need space" "I need to find myself" "I need to find happiness" ?

My stbx wife said she needed "space" and moved in with her parents. I found out later that during that period, she started reaching out to exes and being active on dating apps. After that, she told me she started the divorce process. So I retained a lawyer got her served with divorce papers (50/50 CS). Later on, she came back to my house to "work things out". She was unaware that I knew what she was doing all this time, and gave her a chance to come clean. When she kept lying, I told her to kick…

Sorry bro, but that's the price you pay when marrying a single mom. You have no idea how lucky you are though, I'm halfway through my divorce (with 2 toddlers that I love more than anything), but you have no idea how easier it would've been if we had no children. Like I could've just moved back to my home state.

She met her AP. Try to find out if she's having an affair first. If she's, you should start considering divorce.

She has a pro-bono attorney. Indeed, my lawyer imputed her income using minimum wage, but I told her to use the wage on her last job because it was twice that. She was not a high income earner and will never be (HS dropout with no goals in life except leeching off of other people, talking to her friend 12 hours a day, scrolling on fb/tiktock and watching a million shows on netflix/hulu).
/r/Divorce_Men19/10/24 01:18 AM

That's awesome! Our diff in salary would be about 60k if her income is imputed, so yeah I guess I'll pay less than $900 in CS. I'm usually considering the worst case scenario lol

/r/Divorce_Men18/10/24 07:06 PM

I know exactly how you feel, trust me. When I said my vows (I'll be with you through thick and thin, until death do us part), I meant every word of it. But unfortunately, a lot of women don't. For them it's more I'll be with you until I'm not happy anymore. But remember, you have no control over HER actions and what SHE does. Also, women leave emotionally before they leave physically. You have 3 beautiful kids, and I can tell you're a good guy, based on how hurt you are. You will find a good wom…

My man :) I'm halfway through my divorce and my first court date is next month. To piggyback on your post, I met a great girl who's about to become a doctor (never marrying a HS dropout again lol). My stbx wife is living with me while dating her current bf (so bizarre) The girl I'm talking to knows my story and is being very understanding of us just staying friends for now, until at least my divorce is finalized. Just because they stoop low, doesn't mean you have to follow. I'm more focused on myself, my kids and my job for the moment. I'm working out on myself (therapy, gym, hobbies...) I'm not interested in dating atm, I did meet a nice girl though (who's about to become a doctor, no more marrying HS dropouts lol) whom I'm friend with but she knows everything about my situation and she respects the fact that I just need a friend for now, she's not in any rush either. It's done brother. Women leave their marriage emotionally before they leave physically. She has already someone lined up, probably a friend or an ex. Don't even try to get her back. I'm halfway through my divorce, and your situation is almost exactly the same as mine. Retain a good lawyer, reach out to family and friends and start therapy. Remember, she's not your wife anymore, she's currently your enemy. Make sure to file for 50/50 CS. Best of luck, and let me know if you have any questions!

That's kinda similar to me: I remember when I first met my stbx wife, she opened up to me about all the trauma that has happened in her life : Dad left when she was a child then passed away in an "accident", mom would leave them for extended periods of time with family friends or neighbors and go on sex escapades, she was placed on foster care, when she was a teen she got drunk at a party and was raped by her brother's friend, later on got in a fight with her mom, decided to live in her car, end…

Marriage is worth it ONLY when you marry the RIGHT person for you. Which is why it's very important to take things SLOW and get to know your partner REALLY WELL before you get married. Then if you do, do NOT rush and have kids until you're 100% sure. Divorce with kids is 1000 times HARDER than with no kids.

I remember when we had some problems, my parents offered for my stbx to come stay with them as long as she wants. They always treat her like their own daughter. I already told them about her rough childhood: dad left and violent mom (whom she often calls a b*tch). So they always try to help and be there for her. During our divorce, I heard my stbx wife say to her best friend that she cut contact with my parents, because she didn't want anything to remind her of me. Like what did they do to you?

Good analogy, she actually looks like the joker with all the makeup she's been putting on lol

Golden piece of advice! I started being at peace with my new lifestyle and caring less about her as the days go. Yesterday, she called me a dozen times, and I didn't reply until the evening. I have also been grey-rocking her, which has been working wonderfully :)
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 03:55 PM

So eloquently put! Oh well, c'est la vie. I'm moving on :)
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 02:52 PM

You're probably right. She was broken before I met her and she literally told me that I saved her from her environment. Seems like she only married me because I was a refuge to her.
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 12:46 PM
1

Well I hope she'll find her "happiness". In any way, good riddance!

Well in that case, good riddance!

Funny you said that. Just got promoted while she's living in her parents' basement, and taking turns using her mom's car.
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 12:41 PM

I really hope you're right!!! And I'm already planning on imputing her income.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you still in love with your ex?
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 03:22 AM
2

Sounds a lot like my stbx wife lol
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 03:20 AM
2

Golden advice! That's literally what my mom told me the other day. Had I taken time to heal and regroup after breaking up with my ex, I wouldn't be going through a divorce with my stbx wife. And I would not have missed a lot of red flags either!
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 03:17 AM
1

"engaged to a felon" made me chuckle. So my stbx wife is hanging out with a "friend" and is staying at her parents. Her mom told me that she met him briefly and was surprised that he's not a junky. I'm the only standup man she's been with. Before me she dated a gambler, a man 20 years older, and a guy who had incest with his step-sister.
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 03:14 AM

Thank you! I'm a positive person, but sometimes I think about stuff like that. No way in hell I was gonna ask her, which is why I turn to the beautiful people on Reddit :)
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 02:49 AM
4

Thanks :) Gotta thank my job for that lol
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 02:47 AM

You need to fill up your time with positive things, especially hobbies. You need to rationalize the fact that she's NOT your wife anymore and that she does NOT deserve your love. It's been dead and done. This might sound harsh, but if you still love (or care about) your ex, you're a bitch (sorry just trying to help).
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 02:33 AM
7

lmao I don't even talk to her unless it's about our kids. I've been grey-rocking her for the last few months. She called me today 10 times and I didn't answer until the evening.

You've never been curious about something? Or wondered if what you're thinking was right? Isn't that what Reddit is about?
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 02:14 AM

I don't wanna go through this again, I already mentioned that I told her to kick rocks. I asked this question just for shits and giggles, be cause I was curious.
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 02:10 AM
3

I'm focusing on myself, my kids and my job! I have a lot of hobbies that I have more time to do with her out of the picture. I'm an ambitious and driven man, I don't really need a playlist, except maybe at the gym when I'm working out :)
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 02:09 AM

This is why I asked, to get people's opinions.

I hope you hired a good lawyer brother. Focus on yourself, your kid and your job. Pick a hobby: gym, video games. I see you picked up astronomy which is great! Also reach out to your loved ones (family and friends). Whatever you do, do not get back out there! I didn't take time to heal and regroup after breaking up with my ex and now I'm 4 months in a divorce lol
/r/Divorce_Men08/08/24 12:41 AM

I didn't really think about that, I just loved her (my mistake lol)

Her father left them when she was very young. Her mom would go on sex escapades for days and leave her and her siblings alone in their house or with neighbors/family. Had a very rough childhood. Mom would beat her. Went through foster care. One sister got pregnant at 12. Another was a stripper. Her brother is in an out of prison for felonies. Dysfunctional relationships with her family members, especially her mom. Calls her a bitch often. Lots of trauma, I remember her telling me that I saved he…

I hear you brother, I don't wanna see her face at all. If I had money, I would've rented an apartment for her. I was so peaceful the last couple months when she was not staying in my house. Thank you!
/r/Divorce_Men27/06/24 06:28 PM

I understand. I sleep in the bedroom and she sleeps in the guest room, so that's good. Thank you!

That's me plan indeed. She can miss me with that bs, the funny thing is that she doesn't show no remorse whatsoever. I'm moving forward with the divorce and I'm getting my kids 50/50.
/r/Divorce_Men17/06/24 03:22 PM

You hit the nail in the coffin my friend! It's funny you mentioned that she expects me to make her happy because she literally keeps saying "You have to make me happy!", but what about me? what about my happiness?? I don't deserve to be happy??? I believe she's narcissistic. Of course I'm following with the divorce, and I'm getting 50/50 child custody :)

Married for 4 years, with 2 kids (1 and 3), my stbx went to stay at her sister's because "she needed space". Less than 2 weeks after she left my house, I found out that she went on 2 dates, one with some guy from HS, and the other with one of her exes. Let me tell you what I did, I started talking to this sweet and cute girl, who also has a kid -nothing like the bit*h I'm divorcing- who turns out to have so much in common with me, I'm gonna meet her at a coffee shop this weekend. And he's the ch…

Well said :) I think what I implemented is gonna help me (and people in a similar situation) tremendously: I already started grey-rocking her, so moving forward, our interactions will be strictly transactional. In addition, most of our communication will be through text/email, phone calls are only for emergencies and if she has a question about divorce, she can contact my lawyer.

For example, some women wants 100% child custody only to maximize the child support payments they'll receive from their children's father. Some of them max out the credit cards because they were having an affair, or they got a boob job, and expect their ex to split that debt with them.

I'm a great father, even her own family wants me to get 50/50 because they know she has so many issues (chronic illness, severe depression, irresponsible, immature, poor judgment and just a pattern of poor decisions...)
/r/Divorce_Men26/05/24 04:06 PM

My lawyer is great, he walked me through the whole process and even shared some gimmicks that some women use in court.
/r/Divorce_Men26/05/24 04:05 PM

I think that's exactly what she wants: having the kids most nights so that she can more $$$ in child support!

Thank you so much brother! 50/50 child custody is the hill I will die on. I'm even considering of going for 100 since my STBXW has so many issues (chronic illness, severe depression, PTSD, irresponsible, immature, pattern of poor decisions...) but I know it's unlikely to happen. I dm'ed you :)
/r/Divorce_Men25/05/24 12:30 PM

Will do, thank you! This week I'm planning to have my kids spend 3 overnights at my house, then 4 the following week. My lawyer is gonna draft a parenting time schedule and submit it to court next week, because my wife is not really cooperating.

We live in Michigan, so do you think I'll end up with 50/50?
/r/Divorce_Men25/05/24 03:26 AM
1

She said she wanted "space", that's how the whole thing started. I didn't mind because every now and then -after an argument- she would go to one of her family members and stay a few days.
/r/Divorce_Men25/05/24 03:23 AM
5

How about the fact that my wife misses doctors appointments, has a chronic illness where she gets hospitalized often, depression, and is irresponsible with a pattern of poor decisions, would that help me prove that 50/50 is the best case scenario for my children?
/r/Divorce_Men25/05/24 03:18 AM

I purchased the car 3 years before we got married. It is in my name only. The last 2 years kept making payments on it, we were married. So does she still have a reasonable claim to a portion of the value of the car?

Thank you so much! We agreed to do marriage counseling. She didn't like our therapist. She has depression and anxiety. I have been nothing but supportive and helpful to her, but she keeps missing her appointments. Anyway, as I said, I'm going to ask her do marriage counseling again, and hopefully, if things change for the better in the next six months, I won't have to file for a divorce.

Thank you so much! I'm not saying I'm an angel, I have things that I'm working on. Number one is my bad temper. Like I'm very respectful, but when she keeps pushing my buttons, I basically become another person. When I make a mistake, I admit it, apologize to her and learn from it. With her, she keeps doing the same shit over and over, she never learns from her fucking mistakes.

I think you got it twisted. Not to brag, but I'm you're typical tall, dark and handsome man. I often get compliments, even from her own friends and family members, about how attractive I am. So I suspect that's the issue. I explained in my previous post what has been going on, so hopefully it'll give you a better idea.
