Since you mentioned rotation, how do you turn a guy down when he’s developing big feelings just a month or so into meeting? I met someone who seemed great on paper but we had no spark. He started catching feels a month into us meeting and hanging out. It was weird and I said it won’t work for me but I hoped we could stay friends but he’s now ghosted me 😒

It’s been a good learning experience to meet men from a practical space instead of an emotional one. It’s very helpful to know what works for me and what doesn’t, coming from a long term relationship. I do also think we learn a lot from relationships/dating/having a rotation. But it’s kinda sad for me to not “feel” anything for these men who seem wonderful for starters. There’s the guilt of letting someone down, when you know they see some kind of future with you. That’s been the toughest for me…

Agree. I do feel like this with most of the men I’m talking to right now. In fact I almost get irritated/frustrated when there’s any talk of future dates/meeting/hangout 😂

I couldn’t do it at first. I finally had the courage to but did it over text message because I knew if I’d speak to him, he’d manipulate me back into the relationship. The cheating was not a one time thing. He had a whole relationship for a few months behind my back. We were in a relationship for a very long time so leaving was very hard in spite of the constant push and pull, as most narcissistic relationships are. Although it’s been a few months now, even his name kicks up so much anxiety for …

This behaviour does not change to be honest. My NV ex had this same issue but justified it till the very end of the relationship. In my opinion, this is just disrespectful and should not be tolerated.

I feel you! I’m definitely a big people pleaser still trying to get out of my old ways. I’ve been doing some inner work recently and it’s become so obvious to me that my people pleasing is making me question who I really am! I’ve also always wanted to be part of a big circle of friends who are always up to hangout, go on vacations, help with groceries, you know… but never really found my tribe. And lately this has become a big insecurity of mine. Can you share how you broke out of your old ways …

Thank you for sharing this OP. I commend your strength for leaving. Most women find this very thing so hard. Hell I couldn't leave for years. I came to the sub to search for some content on guilt after my ex reached out to me again trying to portray himself as the victim. He's manipulation me for years through this constant cycle of heartless discard and rejection, after which he could come back and love bomb me. I need to be shameless with snooping. An ex would always have his phone on his person and rarely leave it unattended. I trusted him of course although it did seem shady to me. Turned out he was cheating.

I did this with my ex, he seemed unbothererd by me following other men. His justification was that I need to be more open to it just like he is. 🤡

He rarely complimented me, got me flowers once in 10 years after I asked it it, didn't believe in engagements. He definitely dislikes me. He couldn't even say he loves me when I asked him the last time we spoke but wanted to know about our future.

You're right. I can't block and delete just yet. It's too hard for me. I don't know if we can coexist without the blocking. I'm already in therapy so I hope I am able to work through this soon. Thanks for your advice 💞
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/05/21 03:55 PM

It's still lockdown where I'm from so anything outdoors is difficult. But I have made an effort to talk to more men as a distraction but I'm always conscious to not take it too far because I'm too scared to get attached to anything too soon. Also trying to follow some FDS principles so avoid anymore scrotes.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/05/21 03:49 PM

The problem is I don't think he's guilty. He keeps blaming this on LDR. But he has been meeting her behind my back for years. Just as I got to know this he fed me bullshit like he's going to start therapy. He doubt he has because he still has no remorse. Thanks for your kind words ❤️
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/05/21 03:25 PM

It's unbelievable. All these years he's been telling her that we have been "working on things" when we were in a serious relationship, clearly only in my mind. He's been lying to both of us.

Until last year, I was going to be moving countries for my ex to be with him with zero help from his side. He didn't even help with my visa application. I'm so glad we ended things before I could move "for him". My ex would say he didn't have the money for a ring but would shamlessly spend 100s of dollars on video game consoles, and the latest phones and TV. What I'm saying is, if he wanted to buy you the ring, he would. If he doesn't, he will go to his grave conjuring up the shittiest excuses.

You're absolutely right. As someone just out of a traumatic relationship, I consistently ignored my intuition. My brain always resorted to cognitive dissonance inspite of the what my ex was showing me about his character. It's a vicious cycle to break out of. :(
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy23/03/21 06:29 PM

This is true. My ex did this to justify his cheating to his friends. He also told the woman he cheated on me with that he wasn't in a relationship. So this behaviour is very possible.

I've been talking to a guy over the last few weeks. Nothing serious but I've been enjoying talking to him, and I've been hoping he asks me out. He finally did and said something like "want to grab a beer?" He meant literally the very same day! In my head I'm like, do you think I have nothing else to do than say yes to a meeting 3 hours prior?! I just told him "not today, maybe another day". If he doesn't ask me out properly the next time I'm going to cut ties. Such low effort at the start itself…

Ladies, a friend I've known for a while asked me out this morning saying, "I would love you take you out on a date and just pamper you but I've been too afraid to ask you all this while." 🥺 I thought that was really sweet but I turned him down very politely and I'm so proud of myself. I was not attracted to him and didn't want to string him along, and importanty I really did not want a guy to come in the way of my inner work/healing after a traumatic relationship.

Anxiety leading to loss of appetite, loss of hair, stomach aches, lack of sleep, inability to concentrate, depressive spells - all caused while I was in a relationship. Oh there's more. He somehow convinced me I had anger issues, was insecure, jealous, crazy, so much so that I had to see a therapist. Turns out it was just his gaslightling that turned me into the person I didn't recognise.

This is great advice. I broke up close to a month ago and if anything I feel absolutely fine. I do have days where I grieve but it doesn't last long. I'm not sure if this is because I switched out of the relationship much before the break up or I'm holding onto hope or I've just moved on. I'm trying to get into therapy to unpack my feelings because I feel it might catch up on me in the long run. What I'm also doing everytime I get lonely and think about my ex is refer to a list I've been making …

Women have moved passed having to only care for kids and cook and clean - we're getting degrees, starting businesses, going to fucking space ffs. We do more than procreate! This mentality of women having to fit into this mould of being good mothers and wives and daughters is so detrimental. If that's what they aspire to be good, if they don't, then good too. Women have a big role to play in empowering other women around them in this and I think we often fail each other. Unfortunately.

I love this quote by Lady Gaga; "Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore.” 🎤🎤

Absolutely! Women need to empower other women - whatever it is they choose to do with their lives.

In some cases no education even. That comes with its own set of challenges. Also, divorce and separation are still taboo in villages and to some extent even in cities in India.

This concept is called an arranged marriage in India and is very very very common. In this context, for men, it's an easy way to get a fuck maid to not only care for him but his whole family without even trying, and for women it's the promise of a better life in a first world country. It's pretty much a give and take equation. A lot of men do this after they are done "having fun" and want to "settle down" and if you're from India preferably with a virgin bride. Triggered from just typing this.

This is very true. My ex would never compliment me. I'm an attractive woman and so I'd get alot of nice things said to me very often from everyone but my ex! I would have to literally ask him to say something nice to me. And even if he did, it would be a back handed compliment. He'd almost never laugh at any joke I cracked. Another thing that my best friend noticed about my ex's behaviour was that he was very selfish and always looking out for himself first no matter what. In hindsight, I think …

It's crazy that you pointed out that number. In school, neater handwriting would often be attributed to it being a girl's. It's insane to think about how even handwriting has been so gendered.

I recently came across not one but 2 women 'voluntarily' wearing rings on their ring fingers - no proposal, no marriage - as a way to show the world that they are committed to their partners. One even went on to say that in her mind she was already married to her partner. These are women who are living in with their boyfriends, have pets with them - I guess that's why there's no marriage no engagement in sight. Is this supposed to be a thing? I mean...how much are pickmes going to be bending ove…

Thanks for this. My ex always made me believe that ogling other women, following naked girls on Instagram, etc. was "okay". He would even send me pictures of half naked women saying, "how hot is she?" expecting me to enable this behaviour. And the minute I told him I'm not okay with this, he would call me insecure, crazy, unreasonable and the best: that he couldn't have an honest conversation with me 😂. I'm sorry, honest conversation about what? Butts and boobs? This post has really made me real…

I can legit tell you this is a real thing. Infact I'm pretty sure my ex's behaviour led to develop anxiety and some low grade depression too. His constant lying, gaslightling, manipulation, low effort, etc etc. was definitely the cause. Before I met him I didn't know what anxiety was, what it felt like, nothing. And yes, since we've not been together I've been much better.

Do they realise how much better they could be as people, as humans, if they just used their heads for once? Why wait for a wife, gf, daughter to become better? Why not be better for YOURSELF first?

Hello ladies, have you ever had a partner compare you to an ex, another girl in your friend circle? If this has happened to you, how did you react?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy23/02/21 05:21 AM
37

😂😂😂😂 fragile egos
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy22/02/21 06:05 PM

I also think it's often the media that plays a part in enabling this. LVM see women who look a certain way, dress a certain way - glorified. To them this is the only type of women they know exist. Anything other than this "norm" is unacceptable to them; hence the lynching on social media, comparing their partners to pornstars, models, the works. Of course, most men are also very low on their ability to question these gendered, misogynistic narratives.

I did have a guy friend who told me he had feelings for me while I was in a relationship (very LVM) and he was just out of one. I turned him down. But we continued to stay friends, platonically. He never mentioned any of it ever again and now even has a gf, who I've met. But I keep wondering if she knows and if she is okay with me being around him.

Everything you said! I've realised that every fight we have had was because he failed to live upto my standards of respect (not ogling at other women, not communicating, not listening, forgetting anything I said, choosing his friends, yadayadaya). And instead gaslit me into thinking I'm asking for "too much". And it's funny because every break was initiated by him and he came back to me wanting to work on things, but did nothing. Even before we took this break he tells me we get back on a condit…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/02/21 10:43 AM

I know. Experienced everything you said - many times over, with the same guy. We're mutually on a break right now so I'm using this time to recalibrate and see if the relationship is worth saving.

From someone who had the honour of meeting a HVM (once in my life), I can say this is true. He asked all the right questions. Wanted to know about my dreams. On the first date. 💎 What did I do? I let him go, to be with a guy who ultimately cheated on me. Alot!
