Whenever I see men weigh on issues like this, it just becomes so apparent to me that they do not see women as people, let alone bigger women. Sports illustrated is not the pinnacle of equality, that I understand, but it is a platform that leaves a massive impact and bigger women deserve to feel sexy and to feel like they can wear anything and be beautiful. Especially in a piece of clothing that society has told them for many years that they cannot wear.

It’s so weird. I understand wanting to do things with your partner but do people stop doing things for themselves and having fun with their own crowd once they have a partner? Like do you have to bring your partner everywhere? When I still had a boyfriend (he was an asshole yes lol) I still went out alone at times and made time to see my friends so I could still have a life of my own to return to should anything ever go wrong. I didn’t always bring my partner everywhere but I also always made su…

I’m literally working an entry level job in a third world country and I still managed to scrape enough money to get my best friend some nice Aesop products for her birthday. I don’t understand why men want to be stingy with the women they supposedly love? Like how does it make sense at all when you’re supposed to love someone and you can’t even try your best to be thoughtful?

That’s what I’ve been trying to say for years! Are those expectations really unrealistic or are they just completely normal things that women should expect from men who truly love and respect them? Women always go out of their way for those they love and they don’t have to be asked to do as such. Personally, in all the times I’ve loved someone, I went out of my way to do every special thing I could think of and I only wanted happiness in return.

It seems I have too much to say but hey. Kate and Leopold is also not worth watching because you’re going to witness a successful marketing executive giving up her LIFE’S WORK AND FAMILY just to time travel to the 1800s and be with her true love. Or whatever. It’s like the writers all sat together and thought out loud, “You know what’s wrong? Women have too many rights in 21st century NYC. Let’s give everything up.”

I see it now! The book actually starts off with her being 23 and just about ready to be admitted into her program. I’m just one year shy and it made my skin crawl just thinking about dating someone that much older, let alone a whole professor. Did I mention the book also plays the whole “he’s mean to everyone but me” schtick? Like this guy is a dick of a professor to everyone and feeds into the toxicity of academia but it’s okay because he pays for her Starbucks 🤪

I am on the thicker side and I’ve gotten quite chubby due to a horrible bout of depression that I luckily survived because it became suicidal many times. I would change a thing or two about myself but after going through so much, I’m just happy to be alive. My family and men in my country on the other hand make endless weight comments and though I used to get upset about them, I’ve learned that I can always lose weight if I want to— but they’ll be horrible and snide forever.

This sort of mindset scares me because it makes me feel a million times less safe. An old friend who I’m trying to distance myself from slowly went abroad to study and when I explained my very FDS approach towards dating to him, he simply laughed at said that I shouldn’t “make sweeping generalizations about a whole gender (ie. Men)” and that he came back home because he was “tired of all the statistics and correctness”. I told him that I worry for every woman in his life if he thinks that the fe…

See... I took the liberty of educating myself on the situation because I will physically convulse if a man explains it to me. I’ve concluded that men will bet their whole life savings for a cause at the behest of their own wellbeing and the women in their lives... but will also propose with ring pops lol. That being said I’ve seen some of them actually care to turn it all into generational wealth and financial freedom for their families. So I’m just learning as I go 😅

Okay but this is a concern of mine. I’m only 21 so maybe I don’t have to worry so much, but I have avoidance issues towards marriage in that I am scared I’ll be trapped. Forced into a certain kind of life. I’m scared of being known for all of my strengths and weaknesses. My pretty and ugly moments. Scared that it will all have been for nothing if it ends. I don’t know how to work on this.

I used to smoke. Not daily but every few weeks when my depression got too tough to handle. And it wouldn’t be gradual either. I’d burn through a whole pack in less than 24 hours. Then I’d think, “Heh, I’m not even addicted,” because I could quit the next day and be fine. Cue the cycle. No routine is healthy, and I relapsed a couple of times in my efforts to quit. That being said, for anyone who’s trying to quit; every time you feel like you’re going to relapse, get a box of Tic Tacs or any mints…

Omg! I thought I was crazy about a year ago when I saw a similar narrative on Twitter. This girl posted a video of a surprise she did in which she used all the rooms in her house to designate a different holiday in each one. Her boyfriend was in prison and when he got out, she didn’t want him to miss any holidays. Everyone was praising this behavior and calling it pure unconditional love and I felt like such a bitch for thinking, “If I’m capable of loving like this, why the fuck would I be with …

I needed this. The past couple of days I’ve managed to upset two friends of mine by simply giving advice in accordance to FDS principles. One was intimidated and the other had the audacity to insinuate that I was wrong and that I “don’t really know him like she does”. I may sound blunt and at times dry but I put a lot of thought into everything I say, especially when it comes to my loved ones. I’ve since decided to limit contact with these two because I can’t keep going and yet still somehow kee…

I support this message completely. However, as a KPOP fan, Beenzino putting a ring on this girl practically makes her the queen of white koreaboos who go to Korea specifically to fetishize Korean men. I’m happy for him nonetheless though.

I still cry about this two years later. After graduating high school I scored a partial scholarship to a pre-law major at a university abroad. I wanted so bad to be a lawyer. I was granted partial scholarships and aids for my other choices as well. Due to a lack of familial support and many counts of domestic abuse, I had to drop all of them. I’m pretty content where I am but it’s not where my abilities should have gotten me. Because I was a girl, I was raised to stay inside and not have any lif…

Because innately they’re a combination of all those shitty traits as well and there’s nothing in you that enables them to keep being like that. Men are raised in a world of comfort from practically every area of life and don’t find familiarity in challenging that. Every time a man tells me he can’t commit, I take it as a cosmic sign that my time with him is done and I move on and do better things for myself.

When I went out for my pre-birthday celebrations, I posted my absolutely gorgeous 19 year old friend on my IG story. She had just gone blonde and I was gonna turn 21. Some 30 year old creep harassed me to tell her to follow him back and when I told him that he’s too old and would be like a father to her, he got mad and said that I insulted him beyond civility. I’m not gonna lie. I was toying with the idea a bit but then I kept busy and kept moving. When I was 18 I dated a 22 year old guy. I was a virgin and he wasn’t. I was really cautious and insisted on using condoms and he said that from his experience he prefers not to. You seem like a beautiful and caring person and I’m sorry that this happened to you. I was raised by a narcissistic mother as well and though my dad is my best friend, he was not the best partner to my mother. Narcissistic parents tend to have a scapegoat child and a golden child that they dote on severely to compensate for everything they lacked with the first child. I also hate it immensely when men and pickmes pull the whole “lying about it is worse than actual rape” because IT ISN’T. Especially because society is designed to always give men the benefit of the doubt no matter how much evidence is against them. Actual rapists go on to live good lives while their victims suffer in silence all the TIME.

You know I used to think that just because I have a lot of love to give, I should only expect a little back because just a little would be enough and maybe people don’t love like I do. All it does over time is chip away at everything and you end up with a bigger void there than when you started because you should expect the same amount back. If not more. People have to match your energy without you having to say much.

A friend of mine is a gorgeous model and the first night I met her through a mutual, she explained to me about how she only hangs with men in their late 20s (she’s 21 like me) at the MINIMUM. Also told me that her first relationship when she was 18 was with some dude in his 40s and her parents were okay with it? Idk if she’s gotten better or not but in my part of the world this is so common that I sound crazy for thinking it’s crazy.

Usually I would be pretty snappy but just from reading this, I kind of figured out that the guy she’s talking about is G Eazy. He cheated on her about a million times and in one of her live performances of Without Me, she had all the cities and places he cheated on her in written all over the walls. This man was abusive and manipulative and ruined her completely. I pray she stops being a pickme and takes time out to truly heal herself.

I think there’s a difference between consenting sex from LVMs (not ideal but it’s still sex that she wants to participate in) and what you’re suggesting. I hope that never, ever happens to her and the little digs we do come out of frustration with everyone perpetuating this kind of pickme culture. If anything the energy we want to put out there is that we hope she wakes up and realizes she’s worth more than her body.

I would also like to add a disclaimer regarding the part about Black men being more likely to be incarcerated. This is an actual issue and since I am not black, I have no right to speak any more on this other than raising awareness for reform. This is the only part in this entire thread that I can wholly empathize with because this issue alone goes beyond men being shitty and actually concerns decades and decades of institutionalized racism.

Exactly! They always, always go for the women who end up wanting more because the chase and feeling like you have power over someone are like heroin to these scrotes. Not to mention men like having sex with other women but hate it if you think they’re replaceable, hence why they don’t go for women who just want sex as well. I hope that guy picked her lmao.

I worry for the example some of the pickmeishas set for young girls on Tik Tok who are naive and full of hope for the jerks that they want to be with. At that age you just love blindly and with all of you without properly vetting and the glorification of men doing the bare minimum just isn’t it.

A guy I was seeing got stuck in a depressive rut at the beginning of quarantine and I decided to stick by him and nurture him even though everything in me was telling me it wasn’t a good idea. He was so depressed he slept for days and he was simply just waiting to go back home with his family (he lived alone for college), where I hoped he’d be happier and more put together. Aaaaaaaa a a a. Don’t remind me of that one time I dated a broke anthropology major and he told that his field doesn’t pay much so he hopes that I won’t mind a cheap ring in the future. I was in my “it’s all about love” phase and I was okay with that. It’s not even about how small or big the diamond is. Just if you can afford to do better for the person you love then why not? Why would you purposely skimp on someone who’s about to be the love of your life?
