How would you handle it if your three year old daughter stood in your way?

It should really be “act as if” until you get used to it. Act as if you’re not a desperate loser who follows his wife around until you realize how dumb that is. Act as if you are someone who has good hygiene/grooming/style until it becomes a habit. The list goes on. Consistency leads to competence. Competence leads to confidence. Confidence leads to congruence. If you don’t “act as if”, you’ll never be competent. “Faking it” or LARPing is allowing your ego to convince yourself (and others) that …

I’d wait until there’s 30 days left on your lease and inform both your landlord and your girlfriend that you won’t be renewing your contract with either of them.

Does such calibration puts me in someone else's frame? I don't think so. Calibration is for *after* your wife actually wants to fuck you. "You're always so far ahead! I can't compete with you." 5% Comfort test, 95% mouth noises. "I'm not awesome. Even sex with me is not awesome." 100% comfort test. You ignored it. What happened to "continue being the Oak. Provide comfort."?

You've read through the sidebar twice and posted here 17 times, and you still haven't accepted that you are not a victim. Not even of your own past or your own choices. "You will need to make a decision. Who is in charge? You.....or your past? From there your path becomes significantly more difficult, if you choose you. But that difficulty is ultimately the most instructive measure for the rest of it. If the kid isn't in charge, if the kid has ideas that you LISTEN TO, but don't let drive the in…

It’s interesting how defensive you are. I never mentioned you were lazy. I said you were putting on a mask. Good luck with the sidebar.
/r/MarriedRedPill20/10/21 01:27 PM

I’m saying you are definitely a nice guy, and trying to tell yourself otherwise is just your ego. Talking about “putting on a nice guy persona” and “displaying outcome independence” is a dead giveaway. You’re just putting on a mask. You’re not a guy who doesn’t give a fuck, you’re just dressing up as one for Halloween.

If it looks like a nice guy, and walks like a nice guy, and quacks like a nice guy… Of course that couldn’t be you, though, because if it were you would have some things to fix.
/r/MarriedRedPill20/10/21 02:27 AM

I'm totally with you on the difference here. I was under the assumption that this guy ain't leaving, and that dynamic leaves him with effectively zero options.

My point was that boundaries have to be defensible. What's he going to do, pull her credit cards?
/r/askMRP22/09/21 06:09 PM
1

The only real answer for how to enforce his boundary is to remove time and attention, but if he's not the prize that doesn't work at all. That strategy was over before it began. There's so much valuable knowledge here in this comment it deserves its own post.

/r/askMRP22/09/21 01:57 PM

I know where you're going with this, and clearly boundary enforcement isn't his real problem, but how exactly is he supposed to enforce this if she's the bread winner?

Don't forget to put the words "right now" on the end of everything she says. Also, her thinking about you having sex with other women is an indicator of interest. The next time the cheating thing comes up just start taking her clothes off.

It's fine to have a placeholder as your mission, especially at your age, but you have to put yourself in a winning position. Here is what that looks like for you: Mission Be the best version of myself. Strategic Objectives Build strength, maximize career options, and socialize often. Goals Finish master's thesis, eliminate covert contracts, and fix the lack of motivation. With this structure, you can move through the day and easily determine whether or not you've been working on your mission or …

If I were a woman and married to a spineless idiot for 25 years, I'd be more than just a little autistic. Okay, here's the deal. This isn't about her at all, it's about you. You, my friend, are not ready to get married. If you were ready to get married, you'd realize that for all this talk about what real love is, she's trying to pass off threats and ultimatums as an attempt to manipulate you by playing to your morality and your emotions. That's not real, unconditional love. If you were ready to get married, you'd understand this is either a bluff or a feeble attempt to force you into a decision on …

A high capacity to influence people. Understanding what it is that people need in order to thrive. The willingness to make decisions that other people don't want to make. Empathy and understanding what it is that motivates and moves people the most. Playing the long game. This last one just sounds like strategy, but I'm not sure that's what you mean. Would you elaborate?

About 100 days ago, I asked HornsofApathy for some advice on a certain topic. The question was about something he had some experience with that I didn’t, and instead of simply sharing his advice with me, the conversation opened up in a way that was wholly unexpected. He was more open and honest and vulnerable than I could’ve reasonably expected. What I came away with was a better understanding of myself. It’s not easy, but it’s so simple. Figure out your mission and what’s important to you personally. Drop the unconstructive behaviors. Then replace them with new, more constructive behaviors. Keep working at it consistently and make changes at a measured pace. Do most guys do that? Fuck no. They come here looking for shortcuts and cheat codes and get angry at us for telling them the truth and laughing at them.

Yet, his boundary says it's failed. Only he knows if it was a bluff. I'm not quite following. My point still stands. OP's questions were: Can this be salvaged through separation? You and I both know that the only way to know if the relationship has failed is for him to remain congruent and observe her actions; maybe she'll get on board and respect him as a parent - even if she doesn't respect him as a man and a husband - and maybe she won't. Probably not, given that he's framing the question in …

Serious boundary crossing here bro. Up to you how you want to deal with that boundary crossed. He invited her to walk out the door, and she did. Then he told her, "I would consider that an act of separation or divorce if she ever did that." He's already engaged an attorney, so he's done just about all he can do. Nothing left for him to do now except shut the fuck up and do some frame construction. This post is silly. "Shit is complicated, wife is playing games with the kids. Should I leave her a…

There are three things on my map for next week: FRAME, FRAME AND FRAME. Fantastic. “Playing nice” to ensure you get a clean break is a wise strategic move, as long as you’re capable of maintaining your commitments to yourself. That’s a core component of frame. Don’t worry about the kids. Figure out how to have the divorce conversation with them. When you do, give it the proper amount of consideration and write it down. Then forget about it and stop worrying about the effects of the divorce on th…

That is a good thing. Anger is a good emotion here to use for fuel. Just like the anger phase(s) of MRP, that is what you use anger for now. I'm at the point where I recognize the difference between being driven by anger and utilizing it for what I need to do. That's really what I'm trying to get at with these deeply introspective posts. The loss of a marriage, the loss of a child, the loss of a grandfather. The potential loss of another child and another marriage. There is more to this than you are admitting. I'm not struggling to admit anything. This has been a huge blind spot until recently and I'm just starting to understand it (thanks to /u/johneyapocalypse). Shut the fuck up about everything else and let your darling little princess handle her mother. I take issue with this one. Respect is earned. You’re 60 days in. If you’ve been married 8 years, then you’ve probably failed 2-3 shit tests a day which puts you in the multiple thousands. That’s your track record with respect to your frame. As W&S told me a long time ago, narratives take time to build. Why don’t you try passing at least a few hundred shit tests (and gauge how much respect that commands) before you start throwing tantrums about it?

Nice guy scorekeeping and cognitive dissonance are both bad options. Exactly. you are right that I am pinging back and forth. I think the oak is in the middle? OYS 26 In lieu of an introspective rant, I'm going to take a more standard approach this week. I've got a lot going on right now. First, the biggest news. After trying for a few months, we learned this week that my wife is pregnant with baby number 2. I'm very excited. My grandfather - my dad's dad - is dying of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He's past the point where chemotherapy can help him, so they sent him home from the hospital and they're treating his white blood cell count at home (for his comf…

If this is a cycle like you say, where does shame fit in the payoff? Shame hasn't helped me. The shame of not keeping my promises to myself wasn't enough to break the cycle. I drank a lot, and then the consequences caught up with me, and then I went back to drinking very little, and then it would escalate again. It had to get to the point where I internalized that removing alcohol is truly a better path to what getting I wanted. After a ton of introspection I realized that the only way to build …

We NEVER made the decision to move in together. Well, you didn't. She certainly did. It doesn't really matter. This woman is not stupid. She is not going to let a 20 and 18 year old fuck up her relationship. Maybe she won't, and maybe she will. It doesn't really matter. Hypergamy may have been working in your favor thus far, but you and I both know exactly how ruthless it can be. It doesn't really matter. How many of us got kicked out at 18 or were told to go join the military? I did. I got kick…

What exactly do you believe prompted you to overlook the red flags? Was it ego? A sense that the benefit outweighed the results? Or, did you simply allow yourself to be invested in someone - and accept their baggage - knowing that you could pull the ripcord at any time?

That goal is still in progress. I’ve leaned out by five pounds or so since I set that goal and the ab definition is improving. One reason why I decided to stop drinking for a long time is because I recognize that alcohol was slowing my progress there, and I don’t want it to stand in the way. At this point I feel very comfortable with my decision to set alcohol aside.

The most important thing in life is to take good care of the people you love. That's your morality. It's not something that everyone subscribes to, and your whole post reveals a lot about you seeking out your own value in other people. You might reconsider why you've built your mission entirely around other people, rather than around things that are meaningful to you personally.

Are you still in the villain narrative from last week around this? I'm not sure I understand your question. I've played right into the villain trope (or at least, the drunken captain trope), but that narrative exists because for a long time in my marriage I fostered the circumstances for that narrative to happen. There are two aspects to me not being demonized in my marriage, and one of them is me not continuing to be drunk and angry at times. I fully own that.

OYS 25 A while ago someone mentioned to me that “anger + drinking = complete loss of frame.” I’ve been working on my drinking problem. The fact that I can recognize that it’s a drinking problem is a shift in and of itself. I’ve been working through Alan Carr’s Easy Way to Control Alcohol, which says to keep drinking until you finish the book. So I kept drinking, and reading, and doing the exercises, and I thought I was making progress. This weekend, I’ve fallen short. I drank too much on Saturda…

This is all completely spot on, except for the last part. She’s not pretending to submit. She’s back and forth between scared/anxious around me (some of the time) and simply keeping the peace and not rocking the boat (the majority of the time). Any amount of AA/AM there would likely, and I think OP will admit, been an attempt at just mindless power games for the sake of "winning" the shit test. Agreed. Pressure flip or nuking her unconstructive behavior was what I opted for, and it wasn't to "win" the point or the argument. It was to convey a message about my frame and boundaries.

Let me first caveat this by saying I'm clearly still in the process of figuring some of this stuff out, so my answer isn't meant as a best practice or even a good example. This is simply what I did. “You always do X, Y, Z and it makes me feel..." I straight up ignored the superlative "always" because it was bait. I simply said, "stop linking all of your bad feelings to my behaviors." “I feel like I’m always having to prove my value to you!” I ignored this. I've shown my wife that I value her. “Y…

When it comes to praise and growing the feminine energy, one of the things that took me a long time to figure out is the relationship that negative and positive feedback have to each other. For our third wedding anniversary, my wife and I stayed at a little bed and breakfast in a quaint little town in the country. The owner, Klaus, was an ex-patriot German man in his 80s. Transition to bulk will happen at or around 8%BF (or when I get back in the gym). You’re jumping the gun here. At 5’10”, having a 38” waist makes you fat. I’m six feet tall and my waistline is 33-34 inches and that’s around 14-15% body fat. You’re chubby and that’s unattractive. Why does your FIL need to stay with you even though he's higher risk? Our single-family home has a lower risk of exposure than the apartment building my in-laws live in. Why didn't you lead it? Due to the career stuff, I’m in survival mode and my brain is shutting down the thoughts of fucking. Not a lot of interest in sex until this week. You know, ‘cause fucking makes kids and my brain is shutting down my dick because I’m not in a good financial spot to do so. You want to know why the dread is there? Why there's some "weird shit going on?" Here's my hypothesis: it's not her. It's you. Which of the following scenarios is more likely? Scenario A: A decrease in your alpha status is gener…

OYS 23 Something happened this past week that illustrates how far I've come with managing my reactions, enforcing my boundaries, and maintaining my self-respect. Above all else, I'm controlling my anger. I haven't written much about my relationship with my own father on MRP, but suffice it to say that the relationship was dysfunctional for a very long time. I carried that baggage over to my relationship with my father-in-law for the first few years of my marriage. You can read some of Rambo FIL'…

Let me see if I understand you correctly here. There's no point to trying to be the best version of yourself, because you're never going to get to the top 20%. Moreover, you think it's more realistic to use violence and money to get what you want out of your relationship? Honestly, I've never seen a better summary of European culture than this.

I know dudes not getting laid but getting suckered/ shamed into expensive kitchen upgrades, building pools, etc. all because they’re failing to guide their wives during this time. Just when I've been thinking to myself, "hey, I'm gaming my wife and having the sex that I want to have. I'm owning my shit, keeping my house in order and leading..." The new kitchen island just got delivered this week, and the new fridge arrives on Friday. Solid post.

My exchange with u/HornsOfApathy last week made me realize my nice guyness bleeds through even when participating in MRP. Instead of giving straight answers to simple questions, my brain gets automatically kicked into flight mode and tries to give the "right" answer instead of what I really think. As a result I vomit every marginally related thought, to make sure nobody misses out on any detail of my background story, hoping something sticks. You're not the first guy to line up to suck u/HornsOf…

Last week you posted the following: I HAVE TO break my wife out of her mental state. She broke down crying and immediately started apologizing for not being able to get out of her mood. This is when it hit me. It’s not her responsibility. This week, you're back to yelling at her, kicking her out, and making the fact that you're unattractive her problem. If she is reacting to how you're treating her by bringing up divorce, then you are fucking all of this up completely. You're completely insecure…

My wife of 16 years I just found out cheated on me very early on in our dating. If you were both just dating at the time and you have no reason to suspect that she broke your wedding vows, this really doesn't mean anything at this point. However, it does explain why your wife doesn't respect you - women are not capable of respecting a cuckold, even if you weren't aware that it happened. Unfortunately, you married a whore. At this point, there's probably no action you can take that will have a po…

When you value your own self-respect over everything else and you are accountable to yourself, then you're ready to engage in a relationship - be it a romantic one or otherwise. In your particular case, I'd add that you should probably learn to forgive yourself for whatever mistakes you've made before you consider a romantic relationship.

Here's the problem. When you have a NEED to be heard and understood, 99% of the time it goes unexpressed, and you're setting yourself up for a major covert contract when the other person doesn't hear or understand you. When you have a very critical message, the alpha approach is to make it obvious. Let's say you're disciplining your kids, for instance. It's okay to say "I need you to hear me and understand me. We don't hit each other." Or, if you're nuking a shit test from your wife. "I want you…

Yikes. Let's unpack this. I answered her question and then said, “it’s good to see you, too.” This is an unforced error. You're broadcasting to your wife that her emotions are bothering you. SHUT THE FUCK UP. I then tell, in a calm voice, that if she speaks that way to me again I’m leaving. She didn’t seem to care. I asked if she was sure. The fact that you're trying to gauge her potential reaction is broadcasting loud and clear that you're highly dependent on her emotional state. In other words…

Your feelings are relevant and can be important, but they are simply a data point to be considered. They can be a tool to uncover something you didn't know about yourself. Or, you can channel your emotions into something constructive that suits your mission. Or, they can pass by with a simple sense of recognition. To be driven by your feelings is to be on a boat, out on the ocean, without a rudder, being blown around to and fro without any sense of direction. It's much healthier to be sailing in…

Athol Kay points out the distinction here: Men don’t often make “direct and open challenges” IME; they make slimy, plausibly deniable, tacit or “just being funny” challenges. They observe the woman’s and man’s responses and then escalate to something a shade more overt, and repeat. An important distinction bears reiterating because a lot of Red Pillers miss it. An Alpha is aloof/indifferent to women’s emotions; he is NOT aloof to interloping males. Just look at primates. There's a difference bet…

This is really the advice I was looking for although it wasn't the question that I originally asked. To me, this is the single most important difference between guys that have been doing the sidebar work and who post in askMRP and guys who haven’t. If you’re willing to set aside your ego and realize that we’re giving you the advice that you need rather than the advice that you want or thought you needed, it’s an indicator that you’ve been doing the work. If you ask a faggot question and reject a…

I’m not going to jump into his wife’s head, if she was serious it was over long ago. Her true motivations and the outcome are largely unknowable. Either way, OP should proceed per his mission and remain agnostic as to where the marriage ends up.

STFU, is start telling me how I have no balls. How can you faggots not laugh at this shit? If my wife said that I'd whip out my sack and say "I was wondering what these were for."

I’m guessing you acted like the beta pussy you are and told her you want to save the marriage.. etc. the only answer when a woman says she wants out is “OK, the doors right there.” To me, it sounded like he laid out some logistics about how the divorce would work. That's not exactly throwing himself down at her feet.

That’s all it is. Emotional dumping. I suspect there's something deeper going on here, around the ILYBINILWY speech he got a year ago and ignored for an entire year. His wife said she " ... cares about me, but is not in love with me" and that "we should behave naturally." Sadly, it sounds strangely like she was getting (at the very least) some feelz from someone else. If that's true, then his wife has been chasing the feelz dragon for a year (not with her husband, mind you) and there's little to…

How can I tell if this is a divorce shit-test, or if it's for real? You're asking the wrong question. Whether she's serious or not, the only real difference is a whole lot of new logistics around finances, parenting, and sex. This woman will either get on board, or she won't. If it's a divorce shit-test what approach can I use to de-escalate? You called her bluff, which was effectively a nuke/pressure flip combo and it sounded like it worked as intended. In my experience, because divorce threats…

My stats are in every single one of my other OYS posts. The anger comes and goes. In the past I’ve let it flow freely or channeled it and found other constructive things to do - lifting, listening to music, cleaning the house. I’ve made a lot of progress that way, but I’m at the point of having a dialogue with myself around my life and trying to understand what purpose the anger serves. When I say that “I’m ready to give it up,” what I mean is that I’d like to get to the point where I’m not driv…

OYS 21 One of the things to own this week is my own anger. It's easy to sit back and watch other people struggle with anger and say, "that's not me" but that would be a lie. I've been down many of the same roads that others have. This week, I've struggled with anger and (to a lesser extent) resentment. I still struggle with anger. It's a familiar gear, and I'm quick to let it drive me. I want to give it up. The other thing I need to own is my misuse of alcohol. This has been pointed out to me in…

Even so, it's necessary for me to be strategic and mindful so as not to say unattractive, incongruent shit. In other words, I'm figuring out how to trust myself to live fully in my own frame. they owe it to themselves I think this is where most guys get tripped up. Owing it to yourself to see through your commitment to the greatest extent that you can is one thing. Exhausting your options simply because you "want to do right by her" or "trying to work things out for the kids sake" is quite another, and you end up sacrificing your self-respect. I want to expand on something you touched on, because a lot of the nuance is liable to be lost in translation. The things we do say to inflict change, our audience needs to be ready to hear. Every relationship has a power dynamic by design. They're a 'glamour' muscle as the bicep flex is what dudes do, but the reality is that the squats & presses rule over curls. If you want gains, concentrate on prioritizing the compound movements first. Such good advice. For that reason, I'd add power cleans to that list. Hitting a 200lb power clean is pretty glamorous.

Phone addiction/external validation. I spend far too much time on my phone, and I care way too much about whether people have messaged me, or responded to me online in some way (Tinder, Instagram etc). You make a lot of great points, but taking a well-rounded approach to fitness doesn't makes CrossFit silly - it just makes it unspecialized. It sounds like your gym sucks. Many CrossFit gyms avoid excessive volume for no good reason, program properly for strength cycles and development of good form, and don't just pick movements out of a hat. The guy that does our gym's programming is a professional strength coach; the training I'm doing doesn't compromise on strength, rather, it supplements str…

One of my favorite things to do for exercise is to chop wood. It’s good stress relief, it builds strength, and it keeps my property clear of fallen trees and branches. My two year old daughter loves to help me stack the small pieces and carry them inside. I can build fires inside in my fireplace during the winter or outside in a fire pit during the summer. It may not improve the world or my community, but it brings my family and I great joy.

Both you and OP are missing the point. OP shouldn’t be trying to “win back” his cheating whore of a wife. If it's effort, then you need to allow some time for the slack to come out of the 1000 ft rope. If it's not, then I guess you still need to figure out what you want. Thank you for this. As for all the flexing, cool. You come across like a kid who finally has biceps and now takes every opportunity to show them off. You're talking about my "more attention from women" trend? I only mention it to underscore that I recognize that I have work to do, and I'm putting the work in consistently. Does "stil…

You're right to link those two together. Having read the link you shared, if I were dating today I wouldn't continue to pursue a relationship with a woman who didn't put forth effort. Right now, my wife isn't that woman; even she has admitted that she's only been putting in effort "for a few weeks." What I'm saying is that I'm realizing that she's either going to put forth the effort or she won't. Saying dumb shit like, "I'm desirable and I have options!" as I did last week isn't going to change…

This makes a lot of sense. I’ve been very limited with respect to active dread, and that’s why I’m at where I’m at right now. It’s worth noting that she wants another baby with me, and combined with the modest amount of dread I’ve been running gives the last statement some teeth. It wasn’t traumatic for me per se. It is, however, difficult to forget. I’ve simply never had a reason to bring it up until now, but there’s a lesson there. As far as your analysis of Maui’s posts, it seems like what he’s doing is two things: relying on/emulating the mental models of others until he can trust his own frame strength, and justifying decisions to himself in the short term because he recognizes that he has not yet internalized self-accountability above all else. When I took all of that into consideration I realised I’ve been looking for perfect but there is no perfect. This really resonated with me. For a long time, I felt like I was unloved and unworthy of love. In the past, those feelings have caused me to reject love from others, or question people's motivations, or hold others to unattainable standards and blame them for not measuring up. I was setting myself up for failure. Nothing is perfect.

Red has a point here. My advice in your askMRP post was “don’t fuck your kid’s life up because you weren’t paying enough attention,” and I stand by that. However, after reading through some of the post history there’s a lot of context I missed. Let me draw a distinction, because this is about outcome independence. That's exactly the distinction I'm making. Ramboing is an excess of Alpha behaviors without a corresponding increase in SMV/attractiveness, frame strength, and a track record of consistent dedication toward one's own mission. Simply put, it's trying to exercise an undeserved level of authority. Ramboing is ineffective because it's incongruent, not because there's not enough Beta behaviors to balance it out.

If it sounds like I'm putting her up on a pedestal it's because I believe her SMV is much higher than OP's. This is all second hand and speculation, so I could easily be wrong about her. The fact that she's reluctant to spend his money and doesn't expect him to throw his money at her problems. She's savvy enough not to get pregnant until she knows she can support a child, which is wise. She's even helped the guy out financially. These seem like positive traits. Honestly, I think she's exhibiting…

I'm not referring to a social network, I'm referring to a professional network. First things first, I would recommend that you get some career mentors - three is a good number. If you can find someone who is where you want to be in a year, someone who is where you want to be in five years, and someone who is where you want to be in ten years, then you'll have a good mix. Most mentors understand that they derive a great deal of benefit from helping to teach and guide others. It's a way of reinfor…

I can understand why you'd say that, and I'm not the best person to argue the merits of religion. However, I can speak in terms of what I believe. I believe each of us has to find our own path, and for some of us God is part of that. He is not the mission or the end, but a mechanism by which I derive my inspiration. Churches and religions are social constructs, and are therefore fallible. For a mortal person (or group of people) to claim they alone can understand and interpret the teachings of G…

I'm certain it was a main event. Nearly all of the discussion was on my terms, and I laid out everything that I wanted and expected from her and what I was willing to do to get it. All of my commitments to her were things I intended as part of my mission, and are in line with the red pill. My wife is not a submissive woman by nature. She considers herself a serious feminist. The fact that she chose to submit to my demands and shortly after that chose to put herself in an emotionally vulnerable p…

“Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.” I thought your biggest problem was that you are a textbook true blue pill beta, but I was wrong. The simplest way to put this is that you’ve got a flawed idea of what marriage is, or should be. That’s your biggest problem. You seem to think that marriage is about finding a good person, ma…

Keeping your dick in your pants as you go through the divorce process is a wise move. Extending your retirement age target and working less right now sucks, but let’s be honest here - I’m guessing she was spending half of the money anyway. Given the history of the marriage, no amount of alimony is too high a price to pay for complete freedom and peace of mind. Best of luck in the new year.

OYS 15 Tonight the main event finally happened. I’m going to edit this tomorrow with a more complete breakdown of how things went down, but right now I need some rest so the full weekly edition of Man Love Anonymous will have to wait. It doesn't. What I'm trying to say - and I'm doing a poor job of it - is that I can understand how he got himself into this mess. The structure of Catholicism indoctrinates young men in such a way that they turn into massive betas almost by design. I’m taking it a step further to suggest that he go ahead and claim battery and file the paperwork to waive her sponsorship. He won’t have to prove the battery, and his wife won’t be notified. If he’s seeking a divorce, it seems like his best option.

I posted a separate comment, but you may want to apply for permanent residency as a battered spouse. You seem to meet all of the criteria. https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/battered-spouse-children-parents

The short version is, I only trust my wife to do what’s in her best interests. Then I work as hard as possible toward my mission in a way that puts me in the position to be her best possible option by far. If you understand what your woman needs and wants, it’s not difficult to incorporate those things into your mission if you so choose.
/r/askMRP30/12/19 04:28 PM

I think your best bet at this point is to speak to an immigration lawyer about getting her signature and sponsorship waived as a battered spouse. If you can gather evidence of any physical threats from her, harassment, or emotional abuse then you might be able to use that status to gain residency and solve your work problem. The important thing here is that you don’t need to prove the abuse and your wife won’t know. You also would have a better shot at convincing the system that you’re the best …

Your weight and body fat numbers don't add up. If you actually went from 74 kgs to 71 kgs in a single month and that truly reflected a 2% total drop in body fat (from 15% to 13%), that means you must have started around 150 kilograms. Mathematically speaking, you're bullshitting yourself by a very large margin. Were you just way off when you eyeballed your body fat? Kids significantly limit your options, are a ton of work to raise properly, and are a drain on energy and resources. If you’re not mentally prepared for that - meaning you won’t resent anyone else for that decision when shit gets tough - and you aren’t 100% sure the woman you impregnate is going to be an amazing mother, do not have kids. There’s nothing courageous about your suggestion, which was “don’t tell her because it will ruin you.” Keeping silent because it’s the easy way out to save his reputation is cowardly. You remind me so much of my father. First off, you're kidding yourself. There's nothing unique about your situation, apart from the fact that you've got fewer options than a guy my age. Sure, your decision making structure and your risk tolerance is different than mine. Here's the thing: relativity doesn't matter. There's always going to be a guy that's younger than you, with a larger cock who dresses better and makes more money than you do. Maybe I have better options than you do, and maybe I d…

If you're keen to learn all of these things from top-notch educators with a breadth of experience, an MBA through the right program seems like a solid investment. However, to me all of these skills seem quite learnable through simpler, less time consuming, and less expensive means. Soft skills are easily learned via application of Emotional Intelligence 2.0 and DISC training. Leadership theory is a ton of psychology conflated with quasi-human resource approaches to talent management, which in my…

I really relate to the wife bouncing around the house and putting up holiday decorations stories in a big way. As happy as it makes me to read this, I find it necessary to remind you that happiness is perhaps the wrong rubric. Happiness is fleeting and unsustainable. Joy is such a better thing to pursue. I wish you all the joy in the world.

So you’re at the C-level, but you’re still running back to mommy and/or allowing her to dictate how you run the business? Handle your shit. This is a massive learning opportunity. Turn a negative into a positive by spinning their being untouchable as a virtue. Tell your people that the company is committed to their success over the long term, and that management is confident in their abilities. I’ve asked myself the MBA question many times, and every single one of my mentors (who make less than I do, it’s worth noting) has said that I already possess and am regularly practicing all of the skills that an MBA would endow me with. However, every single one of them has agreed that a top-tier MBA program is worth it for the networking opportunities alone. I think it comes down to ROI. Are you looking for new and better skills, or a better network?

I see your point, but it’s not mate guarding if the goal is to simply to meet the guy and introduce himself to her coworkers. This only works if he’s able to relate to Chad and maintains a confident frame, which can help him feel less insecure. I recognize that it could backfire, but this has worked for me in the past. Your mileage may vary.

If she insists on mentioning him, the best approach is to say that you’re interested to meet him. When she asks why, you can frame it as taking an interest in her work and being keen to meet her colleagues. Take the initiative and plan a happy hour where you can ask her to invite her colleagues, including this guy. Perhaps bring some of your colleagues. For me? If I'm going for volume, it's usually one of two things happening. I think we're coming from the same place on this. In my case, my form was the problem. I was bouncing out of the bottom of my squat and I wasn't maintaining core tension throughout the movement. My technique would break down under fatigue and during high load/low rep work. Using time under tension at a lower weight - pausing at the bottom of my squat and maintaining tension - helped me to correct my form and develop the stability and stamina I needed to progress in weight. It was simply a tool f…

Yes, progressive overload is the only way to build strength. If he's trying to remain injury free and build stability before moving up in weight, it's not bullshit. I took the same approach when I was recovering from my hernia surgery. I was coached to use tension and volume to evaluate whether you're getting all of the possible gains out of a given weight before adding more. Maximizing long-term strength means lifting without an ego and not adding weight before you're ready.

It's a lose-lose. If you forgive your wife for holding your house and kids hostage just to gain the upper hand or get what she wants, you'll be tacitly endorsing that behavior and you lose. If you escalate the situation and start the divorce process just to gain the upper hand or nuke her behavior, you're playing into your wife's power game and you lose. Specifically, you lose respect for yourself. In my opinion, the only way to win is not to play. You don't have to forgive her; the divorce thre…

I think there's a difference. Everyone's wife has probably said some crazy shit out of anger at one point or another, but overtly weaponizing the idea of a divorce rape - getting an attorney and taking the house and the kids - is incendiary and destructive to the point that making the statement in and of itself hurts the marriage. Suggestive statements such as "I can't take this anymore! why don't we just get a divorce?" or questions like, "why are you still with me? do you want a divorce?" are …

I missed that part. If you already set that boundary, it has to be enforceable. She clearly doesn't give a fuck about the boundaries you've set, probably because she's still playing the power game. /u/sepean is right, you have no leverage to enforce it. It's better to say, "I'm disappointed that you'd bring up divorce so casually. Do you realize that's a threat to our marriage?" and use it as a pressure flip as you've been doing.

Read the fucking title for yourself, dickhead. You emasculated yourself and now you regret it. You’re too weak to deal with the fact that your girl doesn’t want to fuck you, and too weak to be accountable for getting whatever it is you need or want. What did you expect to happen? A bunch of strangers that know fuck all about you and your situation are going to say “there, there, everything’s going to be okay,” and then try to give you a pep talk? Wake up. Do the work.

The “what’s wrong?” thing struck me as a lower level shit test and simple insecurity on her part, but you seem to be seeing something more insidious than I’m seeing. My response has just been to STFU and smile warmly or wink at her and then refocus on the present. I don’t hate your suggestion, but it’s not my style and I’m not saying that shit around my two year old. I should focus more on amused mastery. This is simply not sound advice. Having been on the other side of this as a hiring manager, I can tell you that it's very likely he's going to piss off the Senior Vice President if he pushes that hard above his budget. The SVP will have to go a level higher to get more salary approved, which chews up time, and he will have to make the case to hire someone who he doesn't know at a much higher rate of pay to someone at the executive level. That creates unnecessary political risk for the SVP. Even …

Your wife needs to understand three things, for her sake: Holding onto that resentment is not healthy She's been throwing it in your face for ten years and that isn't making her feel any better. The answer is the same as ever: hit the sidebar. Figure out your mission. Strengthen your frame. Do the work. The fact that you're writing off your own feelings as "emotional bullshit" is evidence that you don't have the tools to process what you're feeling in a healthy way. Process that guilt properly so you can move forward knowing that you're doing what's best for you, whatever that decision ends up being. Also, stop jerking off so much like a fucking loser.

Practice acceptance. Instead of dwelling on the unfairness of your loved one’s diagnosis, accept your feelings, even the negative ones. Great insight here. The ability to be aware of your own feelings and experience or engage with them on your own terms - when you're ready - to consider your feelings without dwelling on them, to recognize that you don't have to be driven by those feelings, and to allow them to pass is a key component of being a healthy, functioning person. Absolutely. Since it’s always absorbing information, the best way for the subconscious mind to reprogram your shit is for you to be exposed to the things that you want to influence your thinking. If you want to be an athlete, you have to surround yourself with athletes, do what they do, and think how they think.
/r/MarriedRedPill17/09/19 12:19 PM
1

You can reprogram your subconscious mind. It takes time, but your brain believes what you tell it. Your subconscious mind is absorbing information constantly and drawing conclusions and forming beliefs based on that information. Once it does, the ego works by using revenge, anger, fear, love, or any emotion as a tool (reaction) to start to reprogram how your conscious mind works and, in this case, generate motivation. The ego can also foster complacency, but that's a topic for another day. Howev…

This makes a lot more sense. It sounds like this situation is affecting your wife and kids, which makes it your problem. I can understand the urge to do something, but as I said before there's very little you can do about their marriage. It might be in your children's best interest to insulate them from your in-laws' dysfunctional marriage. I'm sure this sucks to hear, but choosing to expose your kids to a "basic lazy beta" that gets violent with his wife is a terrible idea. You can't write off …

Well taken. This isn’t about negotiation and I’m trying to avoid discussing her level of desire or the sexual frequency at all. It always came off as needy when I did that in the past. I chose to be honest with her for two reasons: I wanted to be accountable for my feelings and behavior, and because she had the wrong idea about my motivations. That only works if my actions are congruent with that.

I think it would be best for the kids if he got his shit together. I have so many questions. What exactly does any of this have to do with your mission or your frame? Why are you taking it upon yourself to get involved in fixing this problem? What makes you think you're the best person to step in and troubleshoot this situation? Your brother-in-law sounds like a lost cause. There's a near zero chance that he changes (with or without your involvement) and even if he does change, there's an even s…

Dialing back the lifting intensity a bit for a couple weeks. Interestingly, 4 weeks ago I could not stop noticing attractive women, desiring to, and engaging with their feminine. Now they seem out of focus and in the background. Her current enthusiasm for things that have been taboo for 20+ years is soothing my faggot ego. I didn’t give myself a pat on the back or anything. OYS is not about earning gold stars. Take it from someone who was in your position, controlling the decision to drink and doing it responsibly are absolutely critical to maintaining your self-respect.

Women not forgetting our bullshit is not a bug, it’s a feature. They want to know that they are with as high value of a man as they can get. Demonstrating low value over a long period of time invites constant scrutiny and criticism. Wives that have set sail with a drunk captain many times are not likely to forget those experiences for that reason.

Drinking by myself all the fucking time, especially during the day. This is the most significant problem you're facing, and likely the most difficult one to solve. You glossed over it without incorporating it into your goals or your plan. That's weak. Forget about the finances, forget waking up early, forget your business. You're lacking basic impulse control and accountability to yourself with the drinking. Your progress anywhere else will be marginal at best until you address those things. Whe…

Then I’ll have to be accountable to myself for making the wrong decision. Unfortunately, some things are only knowable in hindsight and even then it’s tough to know how things would play out otherwise. This is certainly a risk but I can’t be so weak as to make decisions out of fear and spite. I have enough poise and respect for myself to not act like a fool and ruin someone’s wedding day. You have no control over the person your wife decides to be. Your kids, however, will model their behavior and their emotional frame on yours to a very high degree. Regardless of what happens in your marriage, your kids deserve at least one decent parent. Your kids won't value themselves if they don't see daddy valuing himself and his mission. You have to figure out your mission. Until you do, you're not going to have an emotional center to refer back to. That is what's creating the "I'm in a ho…

Re-read WISNIFG. It sounds like you’re not ready for that conversation, but a good starting point is some discovery and recognition to build a rapport. You have to be very straightforward about establishing the purpose of the conversation. Tone is everything. If you start out with an assertive tone rather than a passive or aggressive one, you’ll get a better result. Arguing about the facts, assigning blame, taking a position and justifying or defending it, or just straight up slinging mud is les…

It's not until you've attractive and have a decent frame do your words mean shit to your wife or family. It makes sense that you mention family, but it really goes for everyone. Most of the disciplined, confident, and humble men I know at the gym have the respect of more than just their partners. Attractiveness is often subjective, but being healthy, physically fit & strong, and well groomed/dressed are all positive indicators of self-discipline and good decision making skills to others.

I felt this in a big way. Had a hernia surgery two years ago, and I was genuinely fearful to lift big for over a year. When I got back to the gym my mobility, strength, and conditioning were all shot. Buckled down a few months ago and got back to powerlifting. I should clarify; I’m not struggling at all with the idea of rational self-interest or implementing it. On the contrary, it’s clearly essential. I respect where you’re coming from, but I’m having trouble resolving the idea of a “healthy narcissist.” Having a healthy point of reference stemming from a desire to respect and love yourself is (in and of itself) not narcissism. Working toward what you want and maintaining a healthy point of reference when you don’t get it is not narcissism. Being motivated toward one’s own dreams and ambitions is not narcissism. Also, observe how a good and hard rodgering that was recent somehow turns her shit tests into reasonable requests. That shows it is you, not her. This is a dynamic I'd noticed in the past, but I didn't have the framework to understand the background behind why it was happening. I'm starting to.

YOU are the final arbiter of your frame, and if your actions are congruent with your frame, not hers. This is super helpful. The more I put this into practice, the more I realize it's really not about her at all.

I’m determining whether I’m passing or failing a shit test based on a pretty simple method: did I get the result I was looking for? Figuring out if I got the result I was looking for is the hard part for me right now. Observing and making a note of whether my behaviors/actions/thoughts are leading me (and subsequently her) toward where I want us to go. That’s not a marriage, that’s a fan club. The fact that you aren’t ready for it and the fact that you don’t want it doesn’t matter one single bit. Get your mind together. Totally get the points about being in your frame and holding them accountable. In my experience, most women don’t react well when being painted into a logical corner.
