maybe don’t make up your mind about a shows narrative until you’ve seen the whole thing. That's not really a fair standard. Yeah, don't make up your mind based on a headline or short trailer, but after an episode? If there's a clear pattern of literally every white man in the first episode being an antagonist, that's noteworthy, even if it gets better in the latter episodes. And he never “made up his mind” based on the first episode. He simply had an initial impression. It's absolutely fair to b…

Unfortunately, this is why I doubt it will be considered for any Emmy's or mainstream awards. I wouldn't be so sure. I haven't seen it yet, but I'd bet money that the victims are portrayed entirely as victims of racism, and not at all as victims of sexism (based on the trailer, and Netflix's politics). The fact that one of the characters is transgender should be a clue as to why this particular case was chosen. Netflix is an SJW company. Edit: oh, and the fact that Trump was involved back then a…

Even for a Christian, at least in modern times, this is over the top, especially for a technologist (and SQLite is a major software project which has never been particularly Christian in the past). It's almost certainly a satire on how “religious” these SJW demands for codes of conduct are.

Some examples of dishonesty: As pointed out by a kid on the site: Whoever reviewed this film put a high rating of violence, drugs, and sex. I have watched this film 3 times and these things are only discussed and not shown. I am not much for conspiracy theories but it feels as if this site is purposely misrepresenting this documentary in order to try to scare people away from it. The site says: Supposedly in response to women advocating violence against men, a website suggests to readers that Oc…

The gender disparity in modern workplace deaths is directly connected to the modern gender disparity in sexual power. Ding ding ding. When either one exists, the other has to. They're symbiotic. Yin and yang, the masculine and the feminine.

A pertinent point that's been raised in other discussions on this issue is that Terry Crews is the only accuser of his alleged harasser, unlike a lot of the others that got lots of public support.

Not all holidays are nationally or internationally recognized Yes. That's basically the point people are making. Google recognising IWD, but not IMD, for example. Men's Day is a completely different thing from IMD, and actually seems to be a misnomer anyway.

You're basically arguing that they have ulterior, hidden motives behind their quest for equality. I'm not arguing that at all. I'm arguing that they are a female supremacist movement — or rather, /u/Demonspawn was; I was merely saying that them having a point doesn't mean they can't be a supremacist movement, I wasn't saying that they are a supremacist movement (although I am now, since we're on the topic and I do believe that). Using a Nazi analogy again, I wouldn't argue that the Nazis had “ul…

You know what they say about someone who refers to nazis/Hitler? They instantly lose the argument. “They” would be wrong. Godwin's law is just a manifestation of reductio ad absurdum. I realise my response was a little glib. Let me explain it step by step. /u/Demonspawn's claim was that feminism is a female supremacist movement. Your response was that feminists have a point. My response is essentially saying that having a point doesn't make them not a supremacist movement. Let me explain that. I…

That doesn't really prove anything. There are a lot of feminists who think men have all the rights that women do and more, when the complete opposite is true. More than one person seeing things a certain way doesn't make it true. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying this conversation is futile without any evidence either way.

It would have been good to take screenshots of them berating and harassing you before you were banned. If you don't have the proof, I'm not just going to take your word for it. As the adage goes, there's always his side, her side, and the truth to every story. It seems probable that there was some disagreement or hostilities between you and AVfM. However, I can't say who did what wrong or right without knowing the details. If I knew the details, I may not even agree with your assertion that they…

I said that AVfM have consistently fought against the issues men face from conservatism and religion and have fought to keep the movement bipartisan. You said that was “categorically false”. So I'm presenting you with articles in which they do exactly that which I claimed they did proving that it is not, indeed, “categorically false”. I was berated, harassed, and finally banned from aVfM because I refused to accept the right-wing religious message the mods were pushing, and Paul Elam himself ref…

I took it as the implication; are you saying that it was otherwise? I said that he didn't say what you implied he said. By that, I was implying that he might not have meant it, but I didn't mean to imply that he didn't mean it. You are being extremely careful to question without saying anything, yourself, and I find it disingenuous. I wasn't being (and am not being) disingenuous. I merely didn't want to get into an argument about whether feminism is a hate movement or not. That's a rabbit hole a…

I never said his reasoning is not what you said. I said it might not be. Why is that in brackets, as if it's inconsequential? There's a massive difference. You said his reasoning is X, I said his reasoning might not be X so you shouldn't say that it is X, and you respond that his reasoning might be X so I shouldn't say that it might not be X. You make no sense. Why would I post a comment to the OP, when my comment has nothing to do with the OP? I'm calling you out for putting words in his mouth.…

Did I prevent him from speaking? Did I put words in his mouth? He said, as you quoted: Feminism is a hate movement. You somehow took that to mean that he's lumping all feminists in with Clementine Ford and Jessica Valenti. You implied that his reasons for saying that feminism is a hate movement is that he's lumping feminists together, when nothing he said suggested that. I'm not saying that it is or isn't the case (you're the one doing that), merely that nothing suggests whether it is the case o…

They are extreme right-wing nutcases trying to insist that you cannot be part of the MRM unless you are a conservative Christian. At some point we have to stop fucking feeding them if we're going to let them die off. Ah, if you're talking about submissions themselves, I agree. We need moderation to stay on topic. Funny shouldn't be the sole or main reason for a submission. However, in the comment thread, I believe we should allow the discussion to take any turn it takes. Of course, if it was only jokes all the time in the comments section, I wouldn't take it seriously, either, but there's nothing wrong with blurring the lines a bit and joking around at the same time as doing or talking about serious things, …

There's nothing wrong with tacky, “pointless” humour. If you don't like it, fine, but telling people the sub about men's issues is the wrong sub for them because they don't mind tacky humour is unnecessary. If they care about men's issues, this is the sub for them. There are no rules on the humour here, and I think most of us here actually appreciate a little levity when dealing with serious situations. I believe it's actually a fairly masculine style of humour too, a common way for men to deal …

So what, get rid of child support? Where do people get off finishing people's arguments for them in the most uncharitable way? He laid out a set of problems with child support, and your response is to think the implicit conclusion is thus, “abolish child support”, instead of, “put checks in place to prevent abuse of child support”.

She probably calls herself a misandrist to be funny because people have called her a misandrist before. The same way an MRA might constantly get called misogynist and starts calling himself something like TheMisogynisticPatriarch or something as a joke. Now, whether she is a misandrist, that's a separate question. People are probably calling her that. Are they right? You can make your own mind up on that.

Man, this sub has changed a lot since my day. We're becoming the SJWs we supposedly hate. There's nothing wrong with a little humour. I really don't want us becoming like that puritanical other movement that can't crack a smile at a joke because it's gasp offensive.

Don't listen to him, of course you're welcome. A large segment of the movement, including myself, have an issue with feminism as an ideology, a movement, even a word, and we have no problem calling feminists out for all of these things. However, if you want to help men lacking their rights, why would I say that you're unwelcome to do that? That would be great. I would welcome your help. I'm even happy to be your friend, whether you call yourself feminist or not. There's a difference between call…

Right, that's fair enough. I'm just saying the reason the other commenter said that you were part of the problem is that you were inconsistent on rewarding/punishing the bad/good behaviour of groping. Either it's just a bit of fun, or it's sexual assault. You can't act like it's one in situation A and act like it's the other in situation B. Sure, you haven't drawn it along gender lines (which is good), you've just drawn it along desire lines. If the groped person liked it, does it stop being sex…

I think you should have made it clear in your original comment. But now you have a new problem. You're not saying that it's okay or not on the basis of gender, you're saying that it's okay or not on the basis of whether the person will enjoy it; but how can you know that before the fact?

I don't doubt that you interact with very competent and agreeable feminists, but I don't believe that's the point. If you've rejected feminist doctrine, then I would say you're not a feminist. It's like calling yourself a Christian, but rejecting the Christian god. It's at odds, regardless of how many nice and knowledgeable Christians you know. You can still be among those Christians, as friends, coworkers, whatever, even if you disagree. You can still talk to them about Christianity.

Have you considered adopting the label of “women's rights activism”? I don't believe you are a feminist if you reject feminist doctrine like patriarchy theory, but I'm not really fussed what you call yourself; just offering a viable alternative suggestion without the baggage.

Well, the idea is that the legal system should not be convicting people on someone's word alone (course, we all know how well that worked out here), so they shouldn't need for a woman to come forward. It might just come out in evidence, and in those cases, we should prosecute. IMO, judges should serve time for gross negligence like this.

I don't recall the source, but I believe female judges are actually less likely to give a pussy pass; I'm guessing because they know that women aren't angels, being women themselves.

Let's be charitable by playing devil's advocate here. In a classroom, everyone knows what's going on, it's an educational endeavour monitored by people (ostensibly) trained to handle kids and all the participants know each other and (presumably) consent, so it's not public public, so to speak. This fuels male violence towards women FTFY. Men in general are taught to be aggressive around other men in certain contexts, and to treat women with kid gloves. Men are absolutely not taught to be violent towards women.
/r/MensRights10/01/17 11:54 AM

It's also not a men's rights issue in all contexts. He's basically saying, when it's relevant, that's fine, but when it's not, there are other subs that are better for that. Antifeminism services men's rights, not the other way around, even if you're more of an antifeminist than an MRA.

In what way does that invalidate that you were wrong about women not being victims of domestic abuse historically? He didn't say that, he said women had recourse if they were abused. His own source kind of contradicts that, but that is what he said. My impression is that women are catching up to men incredibly quickly in the crime department and governments just can't build prisons fast enough to accommodate them. That's forcing them to look more seriously at rehabilitation. True, there's a definite sexism occurring here in how we treat the accused vs. the accuser, especially with the difference in plausibility. However, accusing someone of being a false accuser is also a serious charge, maybe not as serious as accusing of rape, but still serious. As such, I don't think “plausible” is going to cut it for me. I need hard evidence.
/r/MensRights10/02/16 12:35 AM

Unfortunately, I think denouncing feminism has to come first. You show them that men need help and then what? "Thanks for showing me this, it's high time I became a feminist." Feminist meaning "gender equality activist" in their mind. Then what? They interact with feminists and absolutely lose hope. You have to show them that there's something else out there first. That feminism isn't a synonym for gender equality, but rather one "interpretation" of it. One that can be criticised.

Feminism is not just a movement for women's rights. Any ideology requires two things: a description of where we are ("the problem"), and a description of where we want to go ("the solution/utopia") This is a major point that I've been trying to get across for a long time now. Thanks for really putting it in simple terms.

Ignoring our very often diametrically opposite beliefs, there is one huge reason why the MRM and feminism can never work together. Individual feminists can work with MRAs or MRA groups for sure, we take in feminists all the time, but the MRM as a movement can never work with feminism as a whole. Many of us see radical feminism as mainstream feminism. I disagree that it's subjective I think to say anything is good or bad or more important or less important is pretty much the definition of subjectivity. I think we suffer more from internalized misandry Yes, men fight against their interests all the time, but I think internalised misandry is a stretch. We don't hate ourselves. The reasons men fight against their interests is not because they want to, but because they're sold concepts like glory, honour, chivalry, etc.

They seem to be making the argument (and one I would agree with) that making a distinction between being anti-feminist and helping men is nonsensical. As a human being, I like to be understood. Part of what makes me myself are my motivations. Making a distinction between being anti-feminism and pro-men's rights or pro-equality is important in my mind. You're talking as if he threw a first punch. He slapped her ass. One is a categorical fight, the other is a sexual expression that violates other's rights, but let's not categorise it as an act of aggression (not that it can't be). I think when you start a fight, you tacitly agree to its terms and service. I would say that you should be aware of the risks and know what the universe will throw at you (in the sense of NPCs). That doesn't mean you agree to them. Using that logic, just as an example…
/r/MensRights09/02/15 07:50 PM

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like a slap to the face is a bit more invasive and threatening than one on the ass. It implies extreme hostile intent (more so than one to the ass, which is ambiguous in my view), blocks your view of your environment, and is just more… "in your face". Though I can appreciate that there's really nowhere better to retaliate, since a slap to the ass would probably be seen less as "an eye for an eye" (which I'm OK with) and more "let's play!"

I don't really care about her assaulting the kid. He shouldn't have hit her to begin with, let alone come back for more. I wouldn't call a 14-year-old a child. He slapped her ass. Even that doesn't justify a hard slap to the face, but I can understand that response. What I can't understand is kicking him off his bike and giving him a beatdown while he's on the ground.

See "Safety". Yeah, our safety is important, right up until there are women to take our place. Are there any countries where men specifically are targeted? I have experienced issues with talking about Zoe Quinn (first time, post was removed very quickly, second time, just recently, they allowed it, but were watchful and I was asked to justify what I hoped to gain from it). The biggest reason I still go to FeMRA debat…

No. Depends on how you define sexism. /r/relationships is a terrible sample. It's not randomized at all. Agreed. "Some girl" is not a good sample. No internet community is. Agreed on the first sentence, but not sure what "some girl" has to do with the Internet. Yes. You're past is entirely anecdotal, subject to bias, and probably not a random sample either. Agreed. That's a charitable interpretation that would be in the realm of plausibility if we didn't live in such a misandric world. I mean, even if we didn't, calling it sexual violence is just going too far, so I would say that's a very charitable interpretation.

I don't think it's about having different sex drives; rather, it's about consciously denying sexual affection as a form of punishment. Just like some people being more talkative than others is not the same as giving someone the silent treatment. Feminists already appropriate the fight against racial discrimination, sexual orientation discrimination, etc. for men as well as women. They still consider maleness to be a privilege. Though they can admit that a black or hispanic man is less privileged because of their colour, they would still tell you that their maleness privileges them. This doesn't fight that myth at all.

This is true, of course, but it is also true that almost the entire world is against this happening. There are tons of organizations dedicated to helping prevent the use of child soldiers, so its not as if society is ignoring this problem. Yet nobody talks about how it's a male issue, while there's plenty of discussion about how issue X is a female issue if even 60% of its victims are female.

I'm saying that you can be sure of your memory and yet still be wrong. It's very common. The justice system is badly out of touch with modern understandings of the fallibility of memory. Yeah, can't really regex on names. You would just need a big lookup list. Well, it's already doing that, looking up as many gendered terms as it can. Patriarchy, matriarchy, MRA, feminist, male, father, gentleman, goddess, emperor, actor, Mr., etc. and their counterparts are all being looked up and swapped. I'm gonna go for it. As the project matures, more and more names will be added. Obviously, I'm not going to add every possible name, but common and obviously gendered names will most likely b…

Fair enough. That answers the question of why you wouldn't vote for them. It doesn't address the question of why tone has more of an effect on your vote than actual policy. Oh absolutely, I wasn't thinking of just limiting it to one set of double standards. I agree with you. If there are double standards on any side, let them be exposed. The reason for limiting the sites is because I can't grab the content from every site on the Internet. Equality should be no one forced to kill or to die. Not being forced to kill or to die isn't about equal rights, it's just about rights. Do you want cancer charities to spend some of their money fighting poverty and homelessness too? The men's rights movement is called that for a reason. If I advocate for more funding for environmental conservation, it will be because I am an environmentalist, not because I'm an MRA. It has nothing to do with men's rights, but of course, that's not to say that none of the issues they raise will ever be relevant to men's rights.

You already know! I just found out today. I actually just messaged you an urgent message in bold and submitted a post saying that it was shadowbanned. I actually thought it was my fault, since I had gotten a new VPS and forgotten to put the bot up. After I put it up on the new VPS, it turns out it's not working and I thought I was setting it up incorrectly. There might be a few duplicate mirrors from 9 days ago onwards. I will go through them tomorrow and then you can approve them.

My bad, the quote is "men who rape" and "men who commit rapes". Those are the only two mentions of the word, "men", in the article. BTW, just a quick tip, when looking for quoted phrases, sometimes even searching for it by copying and pasting might not work; in this case, you would have had to type the search phrase and only then would you have gotten a result. It's a bullshit buffet and doesn't debunk a single actual rape myth. Again, my bad, I should have put that in air quotes.

Interesting section: 4) Men had the same problem but overcame it Back in the 1930s, four men were arrested for going topless to Coney Island. Willis writes: “Men fought and they were heard, changing not only laws but social consciousness. And by 1936, men’s bare chests were accepted as the norm.

I actually spoke to the mods about this. I proposed a system where any clickbait article (determined by the bot using the domain, so clickbait sites (not just clickbait, but clickbait that relies on libel) like Jezebel, BuzzFeed, Cracked, Upworthy, etc. count as clickbait) is automatically removed by the bot (which requires mod powers), a snapshot of the site is taken, the snapshot is uploaded on minus.com, it's submitted again using the bot as an image. Firstly, if you truly believe that, then why hold up the absence of male rape victims on the opposing thread as "proof"? Secondly, I've just shown you some science on it somewhere on this thread. It's not. But when someone spreads lies, it's good to counter it with the truth when you can. I try to be a seeker of truth and provider of clarity. I am willing to defend anything, even what I absolutely despise, from lies. Just because someone else in your group felt the need to defend another group from lies, doesn't make it your group's cross to bear. You need to relax, GWW was just countering lies with truth. That's a good thing.

We complain about feminists, when really we should be complaining about some feminists (those who are anti-male bigots). Every feminist is subscribed to an anti-male ideology, whether they themselves are anti-male or not. heavy cross membership There is cross membership, definitely more so than a random, average subreddit, but I wouldn't say it's "heavy". Although, with the fact that most people would probably use throwaways anyway, it does skew the numbers. Then again, anyone that uses a throwaway for /r/TheRedPill might also use the same throwaway for /r/MensRights, so that could skew some of it back. It's a confusing mess and we don't really know how much cross membership there is.

You're assholes for assuming that the sexual dichotomy between engineering and communication is one of nature, when we've never had a society where we did not influence these preferences with nurture. If we've never had a society that did not influence those preferences with nurture, doesn't that sort of prove that it's at least part nature? If it were solely nurture, different societies would have different influences, but by and large, the influences are the same.

Red pill is similar to feminism, in that it's an ideology, so it comes as a package. You have to subscribe the ideology and start seeing the world in the way the ideology's models (e.g., patriarchy theory, alpha/beta theory) tell you to. While some of the models may lead to a few correct conclusions, the model itself is still flawed.

Don't confuse the statement that all men should not do something as an assertion that all men currently do it. At least, that is not how I took the statement. Yes, there are concepts of toxic femininity, albeit not usually named that specific name. Why not? Feminists have spent half a century deconstructing feminism. I'll say this again, since you didn't respond to it: if men or women had identical reproductive value in any way there would be no such thing as evolution. Wait a minute, now you're saying that men and women don't have identical reproductive value. Is this a typo? If so, then please explain how men and women having different reproductive values means there would be no such thing as evolution. This is utter absolute bullshit based on total ignorance of biology. Yes, it matters who reproduces. Tha…
/r/MensRights01/06/14 08:31 AM

No one is justifying anything. Do you not know the difference between justification and explanation? Men and women do not have identical reproductive value. 1 man and 1 woman have identical value when they're the only ones available. As soon as it becomes 2 men and 2 women, the individual women have more value than the individual men. Evolution and natural selection only work because organisms differ from one another. The men are worth less, not worthless. Spot the difference.
/r/MensRights01/06/14 08:15 AM

First of all, take your emotions out of the argument. Now, listen to what I'm actually saying. Biologically speaking, yes, all men are interchangeable. Evolution (or whatever you want to call it) doesn't care which man reproduces. It doesn't choose the smartest, the hardest-working, the fastest, the strongest, nope… just the most successful reproducer. In that sense, all men are interchangeable. It doesn't matter which man it was that impregnated the 10 women, at the end of the day, evolution wa…

Wow. I think that's actually the most disgustingly sexist thing I've ever seen someone say openly. Then you haven't really heard very many things at all. Men are totally interchangeable and not unique individuals. That's absolutely fucking revolting. Biologically speaking, no, they're not. Are you just trying to purposely miss the point? I respected you, but you've just gone full retard. Are you drunk or something?
/r/MensRights01/06/14 07:44 AM
1

But that's the point. Men's value is earned. They earn it by providing utility. Women's utility is built-in to their reproduction. You could say, 1 woman is worth 5 men, but worth 2 miners (for example). This is why men are referred to by their job titles and a man who doesn't have a job is looked down on. It's why people of both genders who refuse to have a child are looked down on. The more men a society has, the less valuable any particular man will be to that society. A village of 50 men and…

He hated men even more I haven't read his manifesto yet. Anything to support this? As far as I know, he hated women for not giving him what he thought he deserved, and he hated men for having what he couldn't have. But he probably hated women more, because they were the ones who chose to give the "inferior" men what he deserved. He probably wouldn't blame the inferior men for taking what was given to them, even if he did resent them.

You can't pick and choose the best of a movement to represent the movement, the prominent members of a movement represents the movement. And the lowest of the low, while they may not represent the movement, are still a…

Not agreeing with Demonspawn, but this is wrong. Anyone can take an upskirt pic of anyone (in theory). You're conflating "teach people (who will mostly be women, as they wear skirts most often) to protect themselves from people (who can be anyone, as anyone can take an upskirt pic)" with "teach women to protect themselves from men".

I mean, even if it was because the family worked to attract media attention, why didn't they do that for the boys? Before a feminist says “because the boys can't be brought back”, no! More boys were dying all the time. Their families could have drawn media attention to that the same way they drew media attention to the girls' kidnappings. There you go again, preemptively coming up with excuses for this woman who you don't even know exists and your excuses are bad. Was the father aware of the child? Are you saying that the mother does not have a responsibility to tell the father about his child's existence? Were they married/together? Whether they're married or together makes no difference, if she didn't want the child, the father still might and it's his child as well, so he should be the first port of call to adopt her.

Thank you for confirming that you are okay with child kidnapping as long as it's been long enough for Stockholm syndrome to kick in I haven't watched the video (doesn't play on my computer), so you may very well be right. Did the adopters know that her biological father did not consent to the adoption? In that case, it is quite nefarious and can be classified as Stockholm Syndrome (or maybe another name for something similar, as she doesn't know anything else)

I would hope a person would be more concerned with reclaiming their relationship with their offspring You don't do that by tearing their current relationship with some very loving foster parents and forcing a relationship with a biological father she doesn't even know. Is this really in the best interests of the child? No! Try to build the relationship first, then work out an arrangement. Don't just tear her from her very good life to satisfy your claim to ownership.

i don't think the mother should be jailed Why the hell not? She put the child up for adoption when her biological father was perfectly capable of taking custody of her. Saying that she "probably didn't want to have contact with the bio father" is just an excuse that you came up with and not even a good one. putting a kid up for adoption shouldn't be criminal. Technically, if she put the kid up for adoption without the other parent's consent, that's kidnapping, or at least aiding in kidnapping.

I was thinking the same thing. I feel like the child has to have some say as well. I think the optimum situation is shared custody of the child, starting with majority Hodgins and slowly transitioning to more time with the father, and for whoever adopted away the child (probably the mother, but the video doesn't play on my computer) to be jailed.

Unless it's specifically designed for only one gender (such as a dress) What about a skirt makes it designed for women? In fact, since we have balls and a penis, it's actually more suitable for men, but it's a feminine clothing item.

The fact that she thinks she deserves a refund even when she doesn't makes her entitled. The fact that she thinks she will get one by admitting fault on her part makes her delusional. The fact that she decided to loudly call OP a creep when he wouldn't give her what she wanted makes her a cunt. Criticising a woman is not woman-hating. Only feminists hate MRAs for that, normal people would actually agree with us here. Normal people have no qualms about calling a woman a cunt when she's a cunt.

What issues do women face in the third world? Let's tally it up and compare it with men's issues in the third world, shall we? You're conflating men in power with power in men. The vast majority of men are just as powerless as women and are being oppressed themselves. Men and women are oppressed by gender roles, which aren't created by those in power for the purpose of oppressing those below them, but are a natural result of biology and evolution. That is, the fact that those in power are men is…

Oh, sure feminists talk about it, but they'll just phrase it as, "Men are Humans, Women are Other", instead of "Men are Generic, Women are Special" which is much closer to the truth. If you want your twisted version of reality to be taken seriously, it has to actually have started from reality. Twisted fantasy doesn't really convince people.

He says she should call herself "egalitarian" (presumably as an attack on the name "feminism") and when she replies that she focuses on women, he attacks that. Even if another feminist wasn't focusing on women only, he'd still say, "then call yourself an egalitarian". I think he has issues with feminism because it either only focuses on one gender or the name only focuses on one gender. It's still an attack on feminism as a whole.

Rapes are overwhelmingly done by someone the victim knows, so it can often start with some sort of grooming. Someone who was sexually assaulted once is often sexually assaulted again within his/her lifetime. Good points! Not familiar with MGTOW, myself, but I don't think "staying away from all people of a certain sexual/ethnic/religious/political group" - for whatever reason - sounds like a healthy idea at all. If there's a big enough risk in not doing so, then not doing so would be even unhealthier.

In my opinion, it's always a bad thing, as the manipulator is basically doing two things: At this point, if motivation is manipulation, then everything is. Everything you do has an effect on the people around you. Even just arguing something logically is manipulation. I think your definition is so broad as to be useless.

The women supposedly "begging" to be raped are not bigots. What are you talking about? What women? The comment is hateful towards scantily clad, manipulative women who encounter a man who thinks said qualities are enough reason to rape her. Harsh ≠ hateful. I haven't read the article (is that what it is?) you're talking about, so I have no idea what you're talking about, but I will say, don't confuse harshness for hate.

Being "better than them" (by what metric?) does not do anything to help anyone, but just lets them keep thinking that what they're doing is okay or that people won't get angry. Using harsh words when pointing out someone's bigotry does not make us bigots, so no, we don't "become just like them". We'd become like them when we started advocating for the genocide of women or something like that. Do you also say, "better stop wearing trousers, lest I become like Hitler?" Of course not!

Yeah, but yelling, "FIRE!" is kind of in that grey area between action and speech. I mean, obviously all speech is an action, but I think you know what I mean. You're taking action against speech that is an action. When arresting someone for unrelated crimes and they're yelling, you're not arresting them for the yelling, they're just yelling.

Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, politically incorrect or inconvenient as determined by a government, media outlet or other controlling body. — Wikipedia I think any suppression of speech counts as censorship. The solution is not to call the 'good' forms of censorship "not censorship", it's to challenge the negative connotations of the word censorship.

Legally speaking, women have all the rights men have and actually some that men don't, while men don't have any rights that women don't. That's second class. Socially speaking, I don't see any efforts to help stop violence against men, but I see loads of anti violence against women campaigns, even though the vast majority of victims of violent crime are male. That's second class.

Let the other say what they need to, but then you have a turn after them. If the other cannot back up their claims of oppression with facts, instead of feelings, then you don't need to accept what they say. Only an idiot takes all the advice they are given or ignores all the advice they are given. You should listen to the advice you are given, then use your brain to determine whether or not it's good advice, whether or not it applies to you, etc.

It's possible that the administration would have reacted differently had it been a boy, but since this situation is not that common, it's just speculation based on completely different situations. We could point to any instance of a man being punished and say the punisher would have reacted differently had it been a man, but it's only speculation. I don't think the problem is that it's disruptive. The MRM is a disruptive movement as well. There's nothing wrong with that, as long as you can back up your claims; feminism can't. There was a decent split between those who though the guy was terrible but the application/interpretation of the law was just and the guy was terrible and the application/interpretation of the law was off base. An incorrect usage of a word (especially where I was clear that I was not sure of the definition) is not a misinformed viewpoint. Unwanted sex is not rape if it wasn't forced sex too. I think I was very clear on my viewpoint, regardless of one incorrect word usage.

Coercion is the use of force or intimidation to obtain compliance. Just checked and it looks like you're right. I initially only looked at the thesaurus on the first definition, so I was a little confused. In that case, I agree with you. I don't appreciate the summary downvote though, when it was obvious that it was a misunderstanding.

What I want to know is why the MRM isn't getting more angry about this. Why are we not holding Bill Maher accountable for this brazen display of bigotry? Where is the outrage? What exactly is meant by "coercion" in this context? We consistently criticise feminists for saying that women who had sex after being coerced were raped. We say that a woman who has sex after being nagged or otherwise coerced (or pressurised) wasn't raped and it's her own responsibility. I extend that to men. Unwanted sex…

Would you tell a black guy to lighten up over a racist joke? As a black guy, yes I would. It's absurd how upset people get over a joke that makes fun of a negative situation. However, there is a difference between a joke that plays on words or uses other comedic devices and a joke that sincerely just finds the negative situation funny. Sometimes, I feel like I'm the only one who can tell the difference.

There were at least 2 edit-a-thons that I know of, it's not inconceivable that there have been feminists who were 'inspired' by that to do their own edits. The title blames it on the edit-a-thon, but that's really irrelevant. Edit-a-thon or not, I'm sure you can see the feminist influence here. Ah, yes! It's not like the kid was on top of her, in the midst of something. This wasn't an "open the door, hear your daughter crying rape, shoot the guy on top of her" situation. It just sounds like you're saying the dad acted rashly in a situation that didn't demand it, but I would say he acted fine and it was only because of the boy's movement (and the girl's lie) that he's now dead.

Or you could do both? you only get so much of it to spend each day. Source? How do you know it's not like a fire that spreads? Ideas inspire each other. Go back to earlier historical forms of feminism. There's no such thing as feminism before the second wave. The first wave was dubbed as the first wave of feminism by the second wave purely for inspiring it or kickstarting it, rather than actually calling themselves that. Nobody hijacked feminism, feminists hijacked the women's rights movement.

I don't see "equity feminism" (as defined by Sommers) as a form of feminism anyway. If you throw away the core concepts of feminism (like the assertion that men are a privileged class or the Patriarchy theory), then it's not feminism. It logically follows that if you don't see men as privileged and actually acknowledge that there's sexism and double standards for both genders in society and the law (not even the law anymore for women, since it favours them now, rather than fucking them over in d…

Your reference seems to have more posts supporting the use of 'resources' in reference to people than otherwise. Have I misunderstood? No, you have not. However, the OP was obviously offended and some commenters did concede that it depends on context. The context that the word "tool" was used in was not as a denigration towards the women, as if that's all they are. Objectifying a person and referring to him/her as a tool is a concern of the MRM! A major theme of this subreddit is that men are of…

I disagree. "Tool" encapsulates the fact that it's not that their femininity makes them better supporters, it's just that their femininity is useful.
/r/MensRights22/03/14 07:35 PM

You've completely missed my point. We are talking about the utility of these women, how useful they are to the movement. The word ally or supporter doesn't encapsulate that.
/r/MensRights22/03/14 07:23 PM
3

Women being the sex that is listened to when airing grievances, they offer an extra utility in the MRM that men don't. In that sense, yes they are a tool. What word would you suggest?
/r/MensRights22/03/14 07:01 PM
1

I will add as well, that even resource can be offensive. You should spend less time worrying about offending people (those who walk out because of "offensive language" are not worth our time anyway) and more about the rights of men and boys and topics surrounding it.
/r/MensRights22/03/14 06:57 PM
1

No, because we're not talking about their humanity, we're talking about their utility. Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable, but tool is the best word to use here.
/r/MensRights22/03/14 06:45 PM
2

I would consider "resource" to be along the same lines of "tool". We know they're supporters and that's a good thing, but that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about their utility to the movement, as people whose voices are taken seriously in the debate on gender equality. In that sense, yes, they are tools. If you were seriously gonna unsubscribe to the subreddit because of some uncomfortable language, you're a concern troll who honestly won't be missed.

I think gender policing is generally same-sex, i.e. men police and shame other men for not being "manly", women police and shame other women for not being "womanly". Yep, my bad, just read the article. It claims that as a possibility. It also claims that slut-shaming could have contributed to it. They're both possible reasons for the lie. Let's assume, though, that she lied because she was scared of her "gun-toting" father. She still risked his life just to avoid getting in trouble with her dad (who I doubt would shoot her).

Yep, just read it now. The daughter claimed she didn't know the boy. COTWA claims that the father may have known she was lying and decided to punish him anyway, which could be the case, but it's far from obvious and is just speculation.

it's bullshit to think this father thought the boy was an intruder I don't follow. I haven't read the article yet, but as far as I can gather, the father caught the boy, the girl lied to her father and said she didn't know the boy. Why wouldn't he assume the boy's an intruder?

The biggest issue here is the stigma associated with sexuality. If women weren't afraid of being called sluts, they would feel no need to lie in a situation like this. there isn't enough opposition here to 'them vs. us' mentality. I think we need more of an 'us vs. them' mentality here. I think mainstream feminist teachings are misandrist and that any feminist who believes in them is either malicious or brainwashed. That said, we need to recognise that when someone labels themselves feminist without actually believing in it, they are not technically a feminist. We have to fully determine people's beliefs before lambasting them and we need to recognise that the…

No, they weren't, they had no ideology. They didn't have rape culture or privilege theory, but they didn't have anything else either. That makes them not an ideology. They were just people concerned with equal rights. Feminism is not synonymous with equal rights. They never called themselves feminists, the second-wavers did that for them, because they assumed that if you fight for equal rights, then you must be a feminist, which is just not the case.
/r/MensRights01/03/14 12:23 PM
1

Good point, but I wouldn't call them feminists, more a precursor of feminism or protofeminism, since they weren't technically an ideology (ism) if they don't have any theories or worldviews they share. Like the MRM, they simply fought for rights (mainly to vote) without any preconceived view of the world.

the problem with calling self-identified casual feminists out on their lack of "actual" feminism is that it doesn't help, but instead might lead these people to entrench themselves even more. But then I doubt that these people who wouldn't answer that they are not feminists think of feminism as a tool of critical analysis, or have thought about patriarchy, or know what feminist epistemology is. Islam also has many different schools, but they all share something in common, namely the 5 pillars. All feminists have something in common and that is that they believe in patriarchy theory, rape culture, privilege theory (with a set hierarchy) and other such sexist worldviews.

This last tip is hard to accomplish, but it's an important one if you want to be chivalrous -- you need to protect women. This means that any time you see a man mistreating a woman, whether she's your date or anyone else, it's your duty to step up and put a stop to it. Physical, verbal, and sexual abuse is unacceptable, and it's not okay to ignore it. However, do not resort to violence unless it is the last course of action! - Slide 10 Fuck you, ChaCha.com and Life Hacks.

Definitely. The funny thing about feminism is that you can shame men for marrying women (a post here on the front page showed an example of that) or going their own way, for shaming sluts or encouraging sluttiness, etc. Whatever they engage in, you can say it's misogynistic, so it'd be hilarious to put loads of feminists in a room and let them argue about what's misogynistic and what's model behaviour.
/r/MensRights22/02/14 11:51 PM

The thing they would have in common is that they would both ask for more rights without the responsibilities that come with them (referring to the White Feather campaign that shamed men into serving in the war, including boys that couldn't vote yet, which many suffragettes were involved in).

/r/MensRights17/02/14 01:52 PM

Exactly. We have differing opinions on how far a 'date' can go. That's basically what I was trying to get across. Personally, for me, the word has so many connotations that when you follow all the rules in Islam, you end up with something that you would not recognise as a date. For one, you can't be alone. A man and a woman alone is too much temptation for both of them to sin by having premarital sex or other acts that aren't allowed before marriage.
/r/MensRights17/02/14 01:15 AM
1

I use the same definition as most Westerners. I mean, dating doesn't have to include sex, but it has heavy connotations of activities that are sexual in nature, such as kissing. In Islam, you can't even hold hands to someone you're not married to or who isn't a mahram.
/r/MensRights17/02/14 01:08 AM

Well, it depends on what you mean by dating. The Western definition would most likely include sex. Premarital sex is not allowed in Abrahamic religions. I mean, you're allowed to hang out and stuff, but there are rules, that's all.

Might I ask which religion, exactly? Islam. Men and women aren't supposed to date, because it lets hormones and emotion get in the way of actual compatibility. Love is supposed to be built. Love that's built is a lot stronger than the 'honeymoon period' that can easily run out. Most of the time, that's what happens. I get your point, I really do, but it's just painfully overgeneralizing. It'd be like saying "All men want sex at all times" or "All men hate cooking and want the women to". Nah, mor…

Yes? I wasn't asking you, but I'll humour you. I don't date women for religious reasons. I don't need to. I can learn from those around me. I do believe that if men truly opened up to women the same way that women open up to each other, attraction is completely lost. They see you completely differently. You have not stipulated what it means to be stolen in this context "the illegal act of taking another person's property without that person's freely-given consent" You've not specified those, let alone shown the government is violating them. Theft. Especially by force.

Government consists of a number of agents that are all human and all of which are funded by stolen money. My original point was that taxation is theft, as opposed to tax evasion being theft. That's all. I don't believe taxation is morally justified. If people could opt out, there would be free-riding again. If people opted out, there would be no government, things would be done privately. No. She can't make money unless there is a State. That's not true. Money doesn't have value because of the state, it has value because we all agree to assign it value. As for any tax-funded resources she uses, the only useful one I can think of is transport infrastructure, the roads, rails, etc. Energy can be gotten privately, almost everything can be done privately. Even transport can be done without the infrastructure, really. Our vehicles are mostly built for roads, but they don't have to be.…

Yeah, that's true. Just goes to show how far a little cultural awareness goes. I do hope they give him the benefit of the doubt though. I understand how the women must feel, but at the same time, he doesn't deserve to be labelled a misogynist and demonised for it. My comment was to explain his reasoning to the other commenters here, because it seems like people are confused as to why he would request such a thing and the first thing that pops to their mind is that he has something against women.…

As a black man, he's not saying he doesn't want blacks in his group. He's saying he wants to work remotely so that he doesn't come into contacts with black people. As I state in my other comments, this is not about hating women, it's about liking women. He's probably Muslim and the "no premarital sex" rule is usually much more strictly observed. He's trying to minimise temptation by asking to not work with any women.

doing it on the basis of gender is discrimination. I'm willing to bet he's Muslim and that he's not trying to avoid women per se, he's trying to avoid the opposite sex. In Islam, premarital sex is a sin and this rule is a lot more strictly observed in modern Muslims than modern Christians. It's not a sin to interact with the opposite sex if you have to, or just on limited terms or with a third person, but you should try to minimise it if you want to avoid temptation. This is not about him hating…

If I were to substitute "women" with "homosexuals" I know that I would feel absolutely shitty as a gay man that someone felt they should get special dispensation (it's a group assignment for a reason) just because of their religion. The problem with this line of reasoning is that you're assuming the reason they don't want to work with the woman is because they have a problem with women or femininity. There's a difference between apathy and maliciousness. Yes, but both are traits of psychopaths. They can want to hurt you, but most likely, a psychopath hurts someone because they want something and they just don't care that they have to hurt someone to get it. It's not that they want to make the other person's life hell, it's that they don't care if it's hell and making it hell gives them something they want.

Very interesting extract: How to protect yourself from false rape allegations is a constant conversation among professional athletes. I've covered many rape cases over my career, including those of Kobe Bryant, the Duke lacrosse team, and many others that never made the headlines. Sports agents and athletes have tried everything from openly or secretly recording their sexual encounters, which is illegal in some states, to asking all women they have sex with to sign a pre-consent form. f.e. You mean, "e.g."? Also, the reason males don't call each other "sweetie" probably has something to do with any male endearment being taken as sexual (the predatory male), so that if you use a term of endearment towards your friend, it has homosexual connotations.

Half-half. But seriously, the nuts (at least, for some people) only need a slight stimulus for pain to be felt. Sometimes, there's little pain in the actual nuts, but you get a sick feeling in your stomach. And the slightest miscalculation could have you hit harder than you intend. Of course, as you said, it's between you and your friends, but that doesn't mean I can't chime in (although, I can see how you thought I was a bit rude). The final decision rests with you, obviously.

If they know that female on male violence is an issue, then why are all their videos the opposite? It seems like they just put that in the FAQ to say, "hey, look, we're advocating equality", but when it comes time to create the ads that will actually lead people to the FAQ, there won't be any that will really make men feel like this is a problem for them as well.

This is a possibility and I would love some hard (scientifically attained) numbers on it, but just the fact that there's a taboo on hitting women probably explains most of it (even criminals have "standards" and those "standards" are probably more likely to be not well thought out).

We've already established that intent is not magic, so not intending to hurt women and not hurting women are two completely different things. What's your point? Even kyriarchy has problems. If I understand correctly, it just says that one person can be both privileged and underprivileged, but only with two different characteristics, i.e. a black man is privileged as a man, underprivileged as a black. Kyriarchy does not say that men can be underprivileged in certain circumstances, nor that women can be privileged.

they inevitably blame "the patriarchy", which is just a way of blaming men without saying you're blaming men. No argument there, except that in this case, it never happened (unless it did, I never read it). She said that men construct manhood (which is bullshit in and of itself), not that men construct womanhood. It is a problem, but I'd rather call individual feminists out on it when it happens. As a black man, it's interesting that you believe it's "quite possibly racist", but you don't believe the fact that he's a man had any effect on the situation. The gap between how men and women are treated is a bigger gap than the one between how blacks and whites are treated (at least, when it comes to crime and law). The law is more sexist than it is racist. This is an issue of all three, the police are being overzealous, which was quite likely because the guy is black and also likely because …

So, why is flirting not seen as cheating by some? Though, I guess that's not really widespread. But let's go with the the interacting. If some girl was putting on a show in public and loads of men were watching her and jacking off, would their girlfriends find that acceptable? After all, there's no interaction (no more than with porn, except the spatial and temporal proximities, as well as the fact that there's no screen and it's in 3D). But I digress. I'm just turning philosophical. Your answer…

Well, wouldn't showing your genitalia to someone be intimate contact? I can justify it in the context of medical care with a doctor (or non-doctor in absolute emergencies), but not in the context of sexual activities. Thinking bad thoughts is one thing, but (professional) porn is basically mass prostitution through a screen with a middleman and crew. Sometimes, the middlemen and/or crew aren't involved, for example with amateur porn. What makes it different? That you're not using all your senses…

Your analogy holds no water. Thinking about fucking another woman and fucking another woman are different. Watching porn is not just "thinking" about fucking a woman. Edit: nor is it full on fucking a woman either, though I didn't claim that.

It would be possible that women are in low demand because of some unreasoning male prejudice from male employers; that would be a non-economic reason; but I doubt it. That's basically my point. We're in agreement.
/r/MensRights27/11/13 04:11 PM

Even if you agree that companies primarily care about profit, you can still make the assertion that hiring practices are affected by subconscious processes which favour men unfairly. I'm just playing devil's advocate at this point.
/r/MensRights27/11/13 04:09 PM
1

I don't believe that, no. My point is only that "if that were true, then companies would be hiring only women" is not a good rebuttal. I agree with the second paragraph.
/r/MensRights27/11/13 10:50 AM
4

They care about earning a profit. If all hiring decisions were made by the CEO, yeah. A McDonald's branch manager could decide to hire a guy instead of a girl just because he's more comfortable around others of the same sex. Sure, profit plays a massive factor, but companies aren't machines. At the end of the day, it's still humans running it and operating it.
/r/MensRights26/11/13 05:08 PM
5

No, it's saying that if companies did prefer men, they'd be in higher demand and paid more. So if a feminist says that companies pay women less because they're sexist towards women, they may be incorrect, but the argument that if that was true, all companies would hire women is not a good rebuttal.
/r/MensRights26/11/13 03:48 PM

I appreciate you bringing citations to the discussion, but that's not the point of this submission. The point is that the people who made this believe (presumably) what they wrote. The article refers to her as a staffer, not as a teacher. They may have had different contracts. It also states that the principal had a chat with Mr. Brown, while she didn't do so with that female staffer. This suggests that Mr. Brown lied about his fling, while the female staffer made no comments. Teachers are held to a higher standard. Perhaps that explains the difference in punishment. What happened here may very well be discriminatory, but that's not the only possibility.

It affects men the most, this is supposed to be a men's rights site. It could have mentioned men easily. It didn't. That's all. You most definitely did pull the definition out of your ass. Cool, so you don't have a counter-argument? I fully explained my definition, you're the one who pulled a definition out of an ass. There are still areas where women are certainly underrepresented and discriminated against Feminism's point is not that women face problems. You can make that point without being a feminist. Feminism's point is that men are "privileged", its point is that the "Patriarchy" is the cause of all gender issues, it's point is not just that women were held down, but held down by men, for men's gain.

feminism by definition stands for equality Feminism, by definition, stands for rights for women.

By opposing patriarchy you don't automatically support matriarchy by default. You're completely missing the point. There is no such thing as patriarchy. In fact, let me give you an easier example: privilege theory, which, from its original (feminist) perspective, posits that men are more privileged than women, is sexist. Anyone who is not extremely biased towards women knows that there's privileges and sexism on both sides. In fact, looking at it objectively, women are more privileged, both in t…

So, a nationalist socialist is not a member of thy German Nationalist Socialist Party of 1930s, but someone who is a nationalist and socialist. Which means you're just messing with me, because you know what I mean when I say Nazi.

Feminists do not want equality. Feminism is a set of beliefs, including Patriarchy theory, that are anti male. If you don't believe in those, you are not feminist, whether you say you are or not. If I said I was a Nazi, but didn't believe in the Aryan race's superiority, Jewish people's evilness, etc. am I really a Nazi? No, despite what I say. Feminism, by definition, is anti male. Feminists, by definition, do not want equality.

We should be the same movement Who's we? Strength through togetherness? Togetherness only brings strength if each component is pushing in the same direction. If half are pushing this way and half pushing the other, there is only weakness.

you're confusing Men's Rights with Anti-feminism. If you want to fight for men's rights, you have to look for obstacles against it. Feminism is one of those, in fact, probably the biggest.

And if there were random people calling themselves Nazis online who advocated for equality between all races, yet found subtle (or not-so-subtle) ways of making it all about blonde, blue-eyed Aryans (Violence Against Aryans, ha, imagine that), we'd see them for what they were. Even if some are good people that got caught up in the propaganda, what do you expect us to do?

MRM draws people that dislike/hate or like ranting against women There's always one. The MRM likes ranting about feminism and what it's turned some women into, not ranting against women. We also rant about how easy men are manipulated into going against their best interests. We recognise the learnt problem behaviours in men and women, as well as noting trends and biological differences.

I actually think feminists did good... until recently when they got kind of crazy. They started to demand strange things. Many of the problems actually are because of distortet feminism. A lot of people like to say feminism's true message is distorted. Can I have some sources on all the good stuff feminists did early on? Even if you count votes for women (which were the suffragettes, I don't know if they count, someone correct me if I'm wrong), the same people asking for votes (Pankhurst sisters…

(tend to have more empathy) Well, logically speaking, this is only good for the species, not the individual, but obviously, as an empathetic species, we don't see it that way. We just see it as goodness. Actually, I've noticed that, although my default is low empathy (I was actually quite high in sympathy as a child and low in empathy, as I grow up, I gain a lot of empathy, but lose a bit of sympathy), I can actually slightly intensify my empathy, just by focusing. In the same way we look straig…

The biggest emotional reaction I can remember happening is when I was going on holiday a few years ago. It was my first time on an airline (out of the womb) and I did not see this coming, everything was normal at first. The plane starts going forward, that's when I know something's about to happen. I start to get nervous. I've never been nervous in my life before that, except when I'd done something wrong and had to answer to one of my parents, but that's more a nervousness of disappointing some…

Well, this is one quality I have. I never get upset when someone makes a prejudiced statement. It's not a conscious effort to not get upset, I just don't get an emotional reaction, because I know that I have my own prejudices. Gets inconvenient sometimes though, when you have to act like you're shocked at the outrageous things that people say.

Yep. Again, something I didn't think of, because of my prejudice. In my mind, once a self-harmer, always a self-harmer. Man, it's amazing how much prejudice you can find that you never knew you had if you really dig through your mind.
/r/MensRights20/10/13 09:22 PM

It's also kind of hard to bluff self harm. Fake scars? Threaten to self harm? It's possible, but less likely than threatening suicide with no intention of following through. Didn't even think of the context. Yes, self-harm is a lot less attention-seeking than suicide threats, I don't even know why my mind went to suicide threats.

I wasn't a social butterfly at school, so that would probably be why I'm so shocked. I mean, though early on, I had some anger issues and didn't really bother getting to know people, if people spoke to me, I generally got along with them. That angry persona probably put people off confiding in me. I later mellowed out and started becoming more social, morphing into the class clown (actually won Joker of the Year for prom), which is another persona that people generally don't confide their secret…

Well, I guess it depends on the circumstances, the people involved, etc. No two are gonna be the same. I was thinking more of a bluff situation. For example, you want to leave a relationship and the other party threatens to kill themselves. They probably won't, so they are merely seeking attention in that aspect, but they also just threatened to kill themselves as a way of forcing someone they supposedly love to stay with them, so in that aspect, they need help. They are seeking attention in one…

I never thought of it that way. However, I don't think when people accuse others of attention-seeking that they mean they don't need attention. I think if person A said that person B was attention-seeking, person A would still agree that person B required attention, just by medical professionals. People say things like, "you/they need help" to or about attention seekers. I think people don't really comprehend the situation when it comes to mental health, so when a mentally ill or damaged person …

While it's true that DemonicBtch's argument is a tone argument, she is a well-regarded commenter on /r/mensrights, definitely not a troll. She was simply commenting that there was no need for you to be rude, which while not conducive to the actual discussion, is not totally unreasonable.

It depends on what you mean by "private". From the other discussions tab, a feminist commenting on a link to this post (from againstmr subreddit) took issue with the usage of the word "secret", claiming that the meeting was advertised via posters. Nevertheless, secret in this context means unrecorded in the annals of history. At least, that was the intention with the ban on recording devices. So, you could say that the feminists in question did not want and did not reasonably expect their detail…

Technically, if someone published a photo of themselves on Facebook and a friend released it to the Internet, along with their details, that would be doxxing. If they say their names in the recording, without knowing that they're being recorded, that could also be considered doxxing by the recorder, if they release it.
