I agree with you. I always paid for myself on first dates because so many men seem to think if they pay, then you owe them sex and I didn't want to see any of that kind of expectation potentially interfering in deciding whether we liked each other enough to go on a second date. But I wasn't looking for a provider. I'd be interested in the experiences of the women here who had their date paid for and whether he had any expectation of sex in exchange.

You never know. People are weird about race and dating.

That's not the point I was trying to make. I'll be blunt, I am wondering if racism is a factor. Or stereotypes about people from your country.

What country are you from? That might be impacting men's decision to date you or not

Sorry, I was referring to the last paragraph regarding men spending all their time online whining rather then going out socialising and perhaps seeing a psychologist to improve their social skills and deal with any emotional and psychological issues that are preventing them connecting with women in the way they want. Every minute men spend complaining on Purple Pill Debate is a minute they could be spending improving themselves in real life. But most men don't want to change, they want women to …

Calling a woman that you want to repeatedly have sex with a slut probably contributes to the reason you can't get one. Do better.

Oh OK, true that was a great plot twist. Totally unexpected. I thought the marks on his legs were going to be cancer or something. I'm sure she did care about it more than she let on. When he bent his knees to show her what he would look like shorter, she had no comment of "that wouldn't have made a difference to me"., if she married and reproduced with him she'd probably have short sons who would also struggle. That's one way of looking at it. On the other hand, it did seem to be intended for marriage minded people which is hard to find at bars and on social media.

The plot twist at the ending? I think it sends a good message to women not to be a selfish gold digger and appreciate true friendship and love when it comes to marriage. But it comes with caveats - he seemed to want children and they would struggle on his salary alone. Plus men who earn less than their wives tend to cheat. But it makes a nice change from all the golddigger movies.

So what's the minimum income and height for you personally and your friends to date a man?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/25 04:06 AM

That's disgusting of those women. I didn't think any woman could watch that movie and hear about the painful leg lengthening operation and not have empathy for short guys. Seems like there's plenty of horrible women in the world.

Weird isn't it
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/25 10:26 PM
1

Yes I suppose I am. To me the friendship and love part of a long term relationship is more important than riches. How many of those East Asian and South Asian women who married for money are in happy marriages? They are both extremely patriarchal societies who frown on divorce no matter how unhappy the woman is. I'm glad I'm not from those cultures and I had the freedom to marry for love and get treated as an equal in my relationship.

Are you saying the movie lead to a backlash against short men?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/25 09:47 PM
1

I admit that I prefer to date men taller than myself and lost interest in a man once when I found out he was the same height as me ie 5'4". He's still a Facebook friend. That probably makes me shallow.

I also found it interesting that the matchmaker scolded the post Wall client for her pages long typewritten list of what she wanted in a man, telling her it not build-a-man, but men are people.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/25 09:40 PM
1

I think the movie is saying that it's typical for post-Wall women in NYC who want to marry to focus on the wrong things like height and income without considering who the man is are as a person. I don't know how true that is as I am not American.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/25 09:38 PM

I found it interesting that a mainstream movie validated red pill talking points that men aren't evaluated by women for themselves, but for shallow things like height and wealth, which are apparently important to women, but things that are important to men aren't advertised and have to wait until he first sees her figure on the first date.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/25 09:36 PM

I thought it interesting that a mainstream media movie acknowledged red pill talking points that short men are disadvantaged in the mating market.

I wondered if the operation would make your legs weaker. I'm sorry you are in the position where you even considered it.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/25 09:32 PM
2

I thought it was interesting that the problems of shorter men was being validated in a Hollywood movie and their solution was a painful operation, not that women should change their standards.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/25 09:31 PM

How about instead of going back to the past, women insist the group of men who are "out of shape, unkempt, unhygienic, lack social skills, and are not financially stable" actually step up and improve themselves if they want to date and marry? Like the Red Pill says, hit the gym and smarten yourself up and improve your social skills and financial status. How would bringing back patriarchy increase the number of desirable men to date and marry?

I would wait until I had moved to the new city before trying to seriously date. It's only a couple of months away so not long for you to wait. It would be pointless to find a decent man where you are now if you plan to move. He would be unlikely to want to go with you and LTRs without a plan to close the distance are a waste of time. Good luck, and do update us again when you are in your new city and dating.

It sounds like you would benefit from therapy to help you stop obsessing over this man and trying to understand him. I'm sorry he hurt you and I'm sorry none of your friends stood up for you. But it's time to leave him in the past and move on to find your Captain.
/r/RedPillWomen21/09/24 11:40 AM

Let him go. You're fooling yourself if you think he will change and want a relationship with you. He's lonely in a new country and wants company and probably sex down the line. Move on and find someone who want's to be in a relationship with you. Don't waste any more time on him.

Read up on vetting. This man should have failed your vetting process and been 'nexted' ages ago. You are not doing anything wrong. It's him that's being abusive and is not husband material. You can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. If I were you I would cut my losses, move out, go no contact and search for someone better and vet better. Good luck.

You make good points. There's also the heritability of autism, one autistic parent is a risk, two autistic parents practically guarantee an autistic child who will be more challenging to rise. Show me a woman who wants a child and is willing for that child's father to be autistic. I bet there won't be many.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/05/24 04:19 AM

People are assholes and dehumanise and categorise people all the time on all sorts of criteria. Good luck with your campaign to get women to be nice to autistic men. Women will always feel uncomfortable and threatened by creepy behaviour, and I think the problem is autistic men don't realise they are being creepy when they do things like stare obsessively or say inappropriate things that make women feel threatened. Of course women want threatening men or men who make them feel uncomfortable to g…
/r/PurplePillDebate31/05/24 04:15 AM

If you don't want to be labelled a creep, then don't act in a creepy way. It's quite simple really.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/05/24 04:05 AM

I agree with this statement and I am in a LTR with a very high functioning autistic man. It can be very challenging, especially his rigid need for planning in advance and inability to do anything spontaneous, his need to be a homebody, and his having meltdowns over things I think are trivial. Fortunately for me, his other qualities make him worthwhile and he is not socially inept. It's bad luck for autistic men, and I can understand them feeling life isn't fair, but most women want a fully funct…

How have you cared about unattractive people in your life? Are you M or F?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/24 07:11 AM

Evolution acted on female mammals to help them with instinctive behavioural strategies to help choose the best father for their offspring. Humans are no different.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/24 07:10 AM

How do you care about women you don't find attractive?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/24 06:34 AM

You made the claim that men as a group are more empathic to women as a group than vice versa. Many more men rape women than women rape men, so I suggest that rapists are not showing empathy to women. I don't know the population of men who are rapists because most rapes are not reported and most rapists get away with it. I found this by googling 1 in 16 (6.5%) men are rapists. 2002 Lisak study, although other studies show as high as nearly 15%, or 1 in 7 men 1 in 3 (30-35%) of men would rape if…

That would be a good start. Have you brought this problem to your therapist?
/r/RedPillWomen08/02/24 03:28 PM

"I talk about my problems with him a lot" Stop talking to him about all your problems for a start. That's what a therapist is for, do you have one? If not, get one. He is not your therapist and most of your conversations together should be positive and not focussed on you complaining about problems. Only bring a problem to him if you want him to provide a solution. I agree you should get more hobbies to stop you sitting there pining for his attention.

He's just not that into you, and there's nothing you can do about it. He obviously has more interesting things to do in his life than talk to you. Sad for you. Find someone new who can't wait to respond to your messages.

If a man wants to lead you to the wrong place, then its not turning on him not to want to follow. You are still in the early vetting stages and he has shown you that he has values incompatible with yours. Next.

You have never even met in real life, so talk of marriage and kids is putting the cart before the horse. It's better to know sooner that he isn't as keen on children as you are, that gives you a chance to vet better next time if that is what you want.

I feel quite safe in my country and am not scared of being shot, unlike Americans. We can send our kids to school knowing they will be safe from a gun shooting. US cops are paranoid because there are more guns than people, and everyone they stop might have a gun. In their paranoia they shoot first. You are part of the problem if you carry a weapon. There is no solution while you refuse to have gun control. Thank goodness I live in a sensible country with good gun control. We hardly every have gun murders here. Male sexuality can be very dangerous for women. The biggest global threat to women is male violence, usually from their partner. Women are right to be cautious

Many women get bored with years of sex with the same man too,and their sex drive comes roaring back with a new partner.

I know you can tell the difference between fat and slim through clothes, but not your six pack. that's a huge difference in weight, is it healthy to fluctuate so much?

Is a man with low self esteem who has his world broken when you criticise him a good Captain for you to be First Mate with? Have you vetted correctly? What exactly do you mean by "world broken"? It might be helpful for you to give us some examples of what you have criticised and how he responded. We can be supportive, but we can't fix our partner's mental health problems or change their character.
/r/RedPillWomen09/05/23 07:16 AM

But he didn't say he got feedback from the rejecting girl that it was his lack of muscle, or that the new girl who accepted him because of his muscle and would have rejected the old him. I'd love to hear from both of them to find out their side of the story. But then again, a lot of what attracts women is unconscious to them, so we would never know the full story.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/05/23 07:07 AM
1

How do women tell you have muscles though when you have clothes on, presumably long pants and long sleeved shirts when you go out at night? It's not like you can go out to dinner or a nightclub on a date with your shirt off. That's why I don't give much weight to the amount of muscle a man has for women's attraction. Once he's got his clothes off, sure. But he's already attracted her by that stage. But then again, I don't want a man with a six pack, I'm quite happy with my dad bod man.

So soon you will turn your bulking fat into muscle and your woman will want more sex again? Is that the idea?

So your bodybuilding gets you in the door, then they assess your social skills. I hope a social worker can help you. They say early intervention with autistic kids helps, but I've heard autistic kids saying its torture being forced to mask and learn how to pretend to be normal. I've no idea what skills adults with autism can be taught to help make them more successful navigating a life full of normies. Good luck.

I'm sorry your autism is making it difficult to meet women and it sucks that they have stood you up or ghosted you. Glad you are happy with your body. My partner has high functioning autism but luckily it hasn't effected him too badly in the social skills area apart from not liking crowds. Its mainly his need for routine and simplicity and stress when things change, and his obsessive focus on a few topics. I wish you luck.

No I've never made a fake account as a man, I'll take the men's advice in this sub that it's a desert. I must admit when I was online dating years ago I was quite fussy. If I was doing it again, I would give more men a chance. But back then you had to pay to contact someone and I was conscious of making a man pay $7 just to message me then I would feel bad rejecting him. Until I went out with one of them and he said the $7 was no big deal, it was the same as buying a girl a drink. Nowadays with …

I've never felt toxic just for being a woman. I am old and spent my formative years in the 80s where career women were encouraged and I was told never to let myself be put down just because I was a woman and that I was good enough to compete with men and win. Today's women seem weak to me complaining about absolutely everything and blaming everyone else for everything wrong in their lives and wanting their hands held and be spoon fed. Just get on with it and get in there and fight for what you w…

He hears you, he just doesn't care to be nicer to you. No, you are not being too much. Expecting your husband to speak nicely to you is the bare minimum in marriage. I note you said things changed since you had kids - is he feeling stressed by them? Have you talked to him about how he is feeling without criticism? Pick a time when you are feeling kind and supportive and invite him to open up about anything that is bothering him.

Are you a man?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/23 02:03 PM

Yes. One of the biggest fears of women in dating is being pumped and dumped by men lying that they want a relationship. It's always a risk no matter how long a woman makes a man wait for sex, many of the pumperdumpers are quite patient and will string a woman along for a few dates before finally getting sex and dumping them. Most women only want relationship sex and abhor casual sex. But most men on this sub refuse to believe that and I saw one recently insist that 80% of women were having casua…

I think that's terribly manipulative trying to make him commit to you out of jealousy of you dating other men. How do you think those men would feel about you still seeing him while seeking marriage with them? I don't think they would be impressed. How long do you think new men would date you without sex? I think you should have another serious conversation with him about your timeline and ask him his timeline and plans and if he doesn't want marriage within a time frame that's suitable for you,…

I'm happily partnered thank you. It's a bit sad that you call a woman explaining why pumperdumpers are disgusting and unwanted as virtue signalling. Even a night of entertainment and nice treatment leading to nowhere because he doesn't ask for a second date because you didn't put out IS A WASTE OF TIME FOR A WOMAN. I'd rather stay home with my cats than waste an evening on a wannabe pumper and dumper.

Men just can't understand that for a woman, to have a queue of men in your inbox wanting to pump and dump you is just gross and disgusting. Many men on here write like they would love to be able to yell FREE DICK out of the window and have any woman respond and take them up on it. They just can't understand how awful it is for women in that kind of situation.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/23 02:37 PM

The women are all on eHarmony wanting LTRs and wondering where all the men are, and the men are all on Tinder looking for casual sex. There's not enough women on Tinder looking for casual sex to satisfy all the men, so even the good looking men have to pump and dump a fat chick who is actually hoping for a relationship. It's just so sad that everyone can't get their needs met.

You are Asian with autism? I'm so sorry. You are going to struggle with dating.

I"m sorry you had this horrible experience. Not many people understand that the freeze response is common in women in addition to fight or flight.

Good advice.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/23 04:46 PM

EXactly. Well said. Unfortunately human interaction is very hard for autistic people and some of the autistic men on here seem to get upset when women don't act according like a computer program they have read in a book.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/23 04:39 PM
2

Has it not crossed your mind that she was telling the truth? She obviously only wanted to be your platonic friend. I highly doubt she was faking attraction just to reject you. Who cares what other women think, its what is in her mind that is important. You asked and were rejected, now move on to someone else rather than complain that she tricked you.

I'm not sure about your claim that 90% of the men on here are not socially inept. I'm surprised by the amount of PPD men who admit they are autistic, even OP has autism in his name. One of the symptoms of autism is social ineptness.

Unfortunately this is true for most autistic men.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/23 04:21 PM

Women aren't tricking OP. All of those explanations that women have given OP are valid. There isn't a rulebook that says those actions of women must mean they are attracted to the man, and they are tricking him by saying they aren't interested.

Johnny Autism, you have autism in your name so if you are autistic, its not surprising that you struggle with social cues more than most men. You seem annoyed that the actions of women you have interacted with don't follow the playbook you have read of ways that women supposedly show they are romantically/sexually interested in a man. Women are not a monolith, and as you have found, actions that some women display to show interest are not universal. Women are not a computer program. Take the adv…

I spent a lot of time on the Red Pill sub for men a few years back. All experienced contributers advised newbies to avoid relationships and seek only casual sex. All newbies complained that they couldn't get a series of women for casual sex. I never saw one single man asking how to get into a relationship. It's bizarre to see all the men in this thread saying they want relationships.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/23 10:40 AM

You sound like a prostitute with such a transactional view of sex. I'm sad you sell sex to your dates in exchange for an expensive dinner. I am a woman and think sex should be a mutually enjoyable experience separate from money. I bet you complain when men say all women are whores for the right price.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/23 10:36 AM

Why shouldn't dates be cheap? It's just a time to get to know each other. Why should men pay for wining and dining anymore when women are legally supposed to get equal pay?

Hell - have a look at reddit's relationship advice subs and you see endless posts of women saying "my man started out good but is now trash, how can I change him to make him better like he was in the beginning" and they ignore everyone telling them they can't change their man, they have to dump him and find a non trash man. They are hooked on love and oxytocin and cling to the false hope that someone on reddit will wave a magic wand.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/22 01:02 AM
2

You say that as if men present their true selves when a woman chooses them for dating. Most men are smart enough to mask their bad qualities for long enough for a woman to get hooked on them via oxytocin. Most people are on their best behavior for at least the first few dates. RP men on this sub blame women for choosing trash men and divorcing them frivolously - trash men can usually hide it long enough for a woman to bond to them and its harder for her to ditch them.

Who do you think you are going to be in a relationship with when you make it to Australia? It's also very hard to migrate to Australia unless you have skills that are in demand and are wealthy.

If he says he only meant friendship by checking in with you, then he only meant friendship. It sounds like you are in love with him, and he will never love you back or want to be in a committed relationship with you. The only way to cure this is to go no contact.

I am glad you are staying away from him and have blocked him. I know you love him (WTF is this BS about loving him platonically?) but he doesn't want a committed relationship, he has told you that many times. Keep blocking him and look for someone else who enthusiastically wants to be with you and love you.

Don't worry about the BS about men liking thick women. Plenty of men like slim women (just check Red Pill and see the mass of complaints about modern women being fat) and not all of them are obsessed by large breasts. Its not his fault the lust has gone, this has happened in every LTR that I have had and it seems common for women in LTRs. A sad fact of life. Men evolved to have random sex to maximise their chances at increased numbers of offspring, and some of them evolved further to be dad providers. The sheer number of player cads who only want casual sex proves that all men did not evolve to be providers. It can be argued that players are parasitic in their pumping and dumping women and betting on someone else sacrificing to provide for and raise their children. Monogamous marriage is also a logical male invention so most males can get sex and reproduce and have an increased likelihood that their wife's children are biologically theirs and pass on inherited property. Women start off madly in love and very sexually attracted to their partners and have no comprehension that it is not likely to last. An evolutionary theory is that wild sex at the beginning of a relationship gets her pregnant, and continued sex keeps the man around helping raise the kid until its around 5-7 years old and can feed itself. The woman then gets sexually bored and starts falling for another man so her next kid is genetically diverse. I don't know the solution if we want a monogamousl…

Finishing a PhD is a very demanding and stressful time so I wouldn't be pressuring for marriage until its over. My partner hates makeup and prefers me without. He can't stand high maintenance women and appreciates very much that I am low maintenance. Its nothing to do with him being afraid I might look better and attract the attention of other men. He also can't stand the wastefulness and silliness of fashion. He calls fashionistas shallow "shiny button" obsessors. Most women don't know that men don't give a toss about fashion, they just like women to wear clothes that are tight and show a lot of skin. Si…

I didn't see that definition, discussions here should have said "available income" rather than just "income" as they are two different things. Just using the word income implies that bosses give men a pay rise when they divorce.

I find it hard to believe that men who are so selfish are in marriages. I have luckily never been in this position but no way would I put up with it. Sex is about mutual pleasure for me. I would make future sex conditional on him wanting to learn how to give me pleasure. Maybe alternating sessions, one for his pleasure, one for mine. I wish you luck, him pretending that he is unable to learn from you what makes your body feel good is just downright unacceptable.

I don't believe we can radically change our personalities by implementing red pill ideas, just enhance and modify, and it can be a ton of work. /r/RedPillWomen12/11/18 11:56 AM

RP theory was derived by men, for men. Women have adapted it to suit our needs, and we need to be wary of men trying to hijack our K-selection of mates to trick us into r-selection of mates. Its a major part of what vetting is about.
/r/RedPillWomen12/11/18 09:25 AM
-9

Give me examples of feminine power then. I bet all you have got is femininity inspiring men to do things with their worldly power. Women will always be weaker than men, and will always need men to protect them. Its biology.

You do realise that for most of human history a woman had no choice of who her husband would be? In the West, it took the Catholic Church to ban forced marriages by requiring the bride's consent. In hunter gatherer societies a newborn girl could be promised to an adult male. In third world countries men still get wives by kidnapping and raping a woman then paying compensation to her family. In Africa men buy a wife with cows and pigs. In the Middle East and India, arranged marriages are the norm…
/r/RedPillWomen12/11/18 06:31 AM

The RP emphasis is on sex for men as the theory did not focus on breeding, rather just sex only. But what RP men are trying to do is get past a woman's K-breeding psychological barriers which predispose her vetting for a high quality man looking for a long term relationship, and trigger her more primitive r-selection psychology where she will mate with just about any man who shows her some attention.
/r/RedPillWomen12/11/18 05:24 AM
3

Yes I am familiar with it, and in the West we have moved from a K strategy for mostly everyone with socially enforced monogamy, frowned upon premarital sex and a low safety net, right to the opposite. r selection is not fair on the kids, and they will grow up to be the same.
/r/RedPillWomen12/11/18 05:21 AM
-3

My experience is that its balanced between male-female polarity or even female led, so I don't think it correlates with RPW. The feminine power emphasis seems to be You Go Girl Grllpower. But if you are a solitary then you can do it your own way.

You are LDR and he is not enthusiastically making plans to be together in real life. Red flag that he is not as invested in this relationship as he was in the beginning. You want to help him grow up and mature and prioritise you? Changing a person is impossible, you can only change yourself. Its not just women who have stopped wanting children. Many women, especially in their 30s, have trouble finding a man willing to be the father. As Red Pillers we know many of the reasons for that. There are far more Western women than men who want children. Fixing that will be very difficult if not impossible, and feminists wont like the solution being fixing the unfairness of divorce and child custody to men.

Regarding the female tendency to want to fit in and not have leaders, I have experienced this and being new to the group have waited for someone else to take leadership and organise what is going to happen next - and nobody does! In some cases out of frustration I have stepped up and made suggestions as to what happens next and they all followed my instructions. I was so surprised. Re…

Hi Camille, I'm not a Christian and even militant atheist Richard Dawkins has said that Christianity is a bulwark against the invasion of Islam. Though many crazy Christians are actually supporting the importation of Islam into western countries. I think atheists like me tend to focus on the negatives of Christianity and refuse to see the positives like charity for everyone, Islam only has charity for Muslims. I don't think its a coincidence that majority atheist UK and Sweden have the highest n…

Plus, white men have granted white women the most rights in the world and in the history of the planet. I like white male patriarchy as it protects me from the horrors of all the other patriarchies in the world.

and don't get me started on Leftists who love the violent misogynistic religion of Islam despite claiming to be against violence and misogyny! I have some real life friends that way. Sometimes I gently try to present them some facts on Facebook including references but they still don't get it. I have to bite my tongue as I work with some of these people.

Those same women cry out "where are all the good men" as soon as they hit 30. They also are in denial of the violence some Islamic women face if they refuse to wear the veil.

But saying that makes you a far right Nazi! or so the stupid extreme left will say. I have seen articles that people still dodn't accept some migrants are dangerous after they have been raped or a family member murdered by one. I also read that sales of guns has skyrocketed in Germany. I think things are going to get much worse unfortunately. Mad Merkel has to go. Glad your partner is doing something about it.

Masculinity and femininity is much more than just hormones. Science has shown our brain structures are totally different, and medicine is finding that our organs and some body functions are totally different too. One example is the symptoms of heart attacks are very different in men than women. Also with depression women tend to withdraw and become sad while men get aggressive.

I'm sorry to hear what is happening to Germany, its madness to invite a hostile aggressive culture. I hope you stay safe.

Glad to hear things have gone well. Thanks for the tip on Longmire, will look into it. Sounds like you have a good man there.

My SO has been very stressed this week and has had to cancel some plans. I've been feeling lonely cos he's been sleeping a lot, but I haven't complained and entertained myself without feeling annoyed. Its felt good to support him and bring him food in bed when he wasn't well enough to get up. He initiated watching a series about cowboy times, and instead of complaining that I don't like cowboy movies I STFU and watched without complaining and am now enjoying it. I like that he gets movies etc to…

This is a good theory. You don't find many slim attractive women that turn to feminism.

I quite like the white western patriarchy, it protects me from all the other coloured men's patriarchy which is far worse.

This article is so true. It makes me mad that feminists want all women to attack their menfolk and bring them down. I agree they only hate white men and put all other colours of men on a pedestal. How can a society succeed if its men fail? I hate how feminists bow to that horrible misogynist religion of Islam too which is very threatening to the west. I have no kids, but my nieces and nephews are going to have to deal with it.

Let your husband decide if he wants to be with you or not. Sounds like he hasn't said he doesn't, so believe that. Keep trying the red pill and allow yourself to fail as long as you pick yourself back up and try again. Changing the habits of a lifetime won't happen overnight. Plus its easy to understand the theory but a whole other ball game to remember to put them in practice, especially in times of high emotion. Keep practicing in times of low emotion, you'll get there if you don't give up.

My goodness why are you still with this man hoping for marriage after all the changes he has made to his promises (I am giving him the benefit of the doubt in not calling them lies). Only allowing you to visit 4 times in 2 years? Massive red flag dealbreaker. You can do better.

ps he is still grieving so now might not be the best time to dump a whole lot of relationship unhappiness on him, maybe do it in bite sized pieces and be supportive about his healing from grief?

Do you have any concrete things you can offer as suggestions to make you feel better? I understand what you are saying, but to a man it might seem very vague as to what change would make you happy. If you just went to him with what you have told us here I don't think you will get a positive resolution. Try to be more specific about what each problem is and give examples of what you would prefer instead, eg do you want to get rid of your chairs and go back to a shared couch where you can sit clos…

I wondered if you were in Vic. I am in SA and the storm was pretty minor here - I hope your home stays OK and you sound like you are very well prepared. I have a plastic tub full of canned and packaged food that we can survive on for emergencies and we have rainwater tanks so I feel quite prepared. Hopefully the worst doesn't come to pass and you are safely holed up with your hubby and dog.

My goodness. You asked for advice and RP Wives gave you advice from their years of experience. You said their advice was 'negative'? Just because you wanted them to tell you that you should stay with him? Sounds like you have decided to stay with him, good luck with that as he doesn't sound like good Captain material at all despite his cocky assurance that he will turn into one. Character is important and he has shown you his. I hope your future with him isn't too painful and your time not waste…

I know that feeling, had it for years, a kind of aching emptiness in the middle of my chest. For me it was related to depression and the right medication that healed my depression also seemed to heal the void. Exploring your spirituality and your relationship to yourself with your therapist sound like good ideas.

I find my subconscious works in mysterious ways as I often find a song coming into my head and when I stop and pay attention to the lyrics, its very relevant to expressing what I am thinking and feeling. I like the idea of deliberately creating pins/anchors especially of good times. I'll try this.

its a good time to practice STFU. I try not to unload the minutia of my day and only let him know the important things.

This is excellent information. I shall put it into practice. When SO was mad at me I used to argue back and defend myself and the argument escalated. Now I just walk away and go to my room and allow him time to cool down. Within 20 minutes he always comes to me and apologises and we can discuss rationally without all that angry emotion. Thanks for sharing.

It doesn't sound like you two have much of a relationship if all his energy is directed elsewhere. I would have another discussion and make concrete suggestions like an agreement on how often to schedule a date night or a joint activity outside watching tv in the bedroom. I would also be discussing love languages with him and finding out what his are and stressing to him how much you need touch and quality time to feel loved. Being in this situation would be a huge red flag to me if he didn't th…

I would be running from this man. He won't change. No matter how much you beg or pressure him, there is a pattern here. Staying with him and hoping for him to be faithful is a waste of time. You can't fix this. Part of the vetting process is to test for faithfulness and this man has spectacularly failed. If you continue to see him you are setting yourself up for heartache and emotional pain. This is not what you want to hear but its the truth.
