I guess that’s a good point. I’ve actually never heard someone say they hate cats because they are unclean. But it does make sense to ask someone why they hate cats.

🙄 it’s crazy you’re getting those replies. Hey male lurkers, how about you create a fake girl profile and spend a couple hours looking at eligible bachelors in your area and tell me they’re not a bunch of short, fat, and/or bald guys (who by the way all feel entitled to a supermodel girlfriend). Edit: a lurker tried to reply saying most women are unattractive, too. I don’t know where you live but I set my preferences to both men and women and the women are always knockout after knockout and the …

Yeah, I can’t really speak to big law, I was more referring to like small and solo firm environments, which comprise most (~60%) of the legal profession here in the US. Maybe you will find a more inclusive workplace at a small or solo firm. I’ve even worked at an all-female small firm before. It was awesome.

On a positive note, from what I’ve observed female attorneys are more common and actually in demand right now while staff remains mostly women. In fact, the firm I’m at now hired two more female attorneys and it’s now attorneys and staff combined are majority women, which I’m fine with to be honest, lol.

I rarely see tall guys, a lot of guys that say 5’8 or 5’9 actually. I agree with white-collared job… so many freaking doctors, lawyers, and engineers. I am so done with engineers personally, way to likely to be on the spectrum and have no chivalric tendencies. Totally agree with the partying. A 26-year-old guy I met said his goal is to have a big house to host “bangers.” 🙄

It’s kind of scary because they see the Taliban taking over in Afghanistan and they think violence against women is accepted. I think we’ll see more of it here in the US and worldwide.

I like jazz too! I’m almost afraid to bring it up because I know men who take it to an extreme with memorizing artists and their discography. I mention I love Billie Holiday and they ramble into random trivia factoids about her to test me. I think men generally tend to ruin things by making everything a dick measuring contest.

The messed up thing is women get better medical care when their husband or father is in the room monitoring the doctor’s every move. That’s a huge downside of being a single woman. It’s the same for law having worked in a law firm where I’ve seen lawyers willing to give someone their time when a husband, father, or male referring attorney calls regarding a potential female client versus a single woman calling herself about a legitimate issue.

No. It’s against human nature to speak out against something that benefits you. I imagine it’s more prevalent among gay man who benefit less from the patriarchy. Like gay man speaking out against straight culture. But I have yet to meet a straight male drag the patriarchy. Men usually have each other’s backs.

If you want to pleasure a woman, ask her what makes her feel good. There is no uniform “Do X and she will orgasm.” Every woman is different. That’s another part of it. Just the blanket assumption that all women enjoy X. I never go down on someone, touch someone, assume any position without asking if that’s what they like. I feel like we need basic sex education like porn has just ruined sex.

That’s true. I’ve definitely struggled with this. Something else I’ve considered is a book club which again would probably skew female. Volunteering is probably my best bet, but my ideal volunteering job would be at a women’s shelter, lol.

I felt this after deleting Tinder. Still have Hinge due to slightly higher quality men. Key word, slightly. I want to delete it, but I work in a small office of mostly women, and do not do any sports or other activities besides yoga which is mostly women. FDS is the only place where I feel like everyone discusses what I’m always thinking. Elsewhere people balk at the word “patriarchy.” These people can also readily identify as allies in the fight against racism and homophobia but totally cast aside feminism and the fight for female empowerment. Or worse, they’re liberal men who identify as feminists, which to them literally means only that they believe in things that coincidentally benefit them in some way, like sex work is empowering and women s…

There’s two different things going on here, offhand comments meant to impress, i.e the $4,000 bonus and favors, i.e grabbing a cold drink. I am highly suspect of favors because they are almost always done with the expectation of sex. This will be become blatantly obvious when you deny their sexual advances later that day. In fact, the whole relationship can turn into a cycle of him doing minor “favors” for you, maybe because he knows you’re dating down and needs to compensate for it somehow. But…

I feel like men these days are used to being chased. I chased men all day long in my Pick Me days and had several guys in my rotation. Now, I refuse to initiate conversations with guys and never ask a guy out. Turns out just that method alone weeds out like 90% of guys. Most of them really don’t chase but are always taking “volunteers” for casual sex.

This reminds me of going to a party with a LVM with all his friends when I knew nobody. I was having a bad trip and he said I could just leave because he wanted to stay at the party. It was snowing and had no transportation but he didn’t have a care in the world if I lived or died. Really bad memory. I’m sure this woman felt really alone in her last moments. :/

Just commenting for people who have no domestic violence experience but it’s not always “love hormones” that keeps you with an abuser. I had absolute distain for my abuser, but forces beyond my control kept us together, and fear plus financial dependency was a big part of it. Not to mention if he kills her when he stays with him imagine what he’d done to her if he caught her running away. Yeah, it’s not easy to leave that situation.

If they complaint about their deadbeat father. Even worse if they do so on the first date, totally unsolicited. Green flag because they realize men are mostly trash? No. The shadow of their deadbeat father will follow them everywhere in life. Avoid this man at all costs unless he pays you for being his therapist. He has no backbone and will never stand up to his father. Think Gob from Arrested Development.

So cringe because I can see my old self in this. LVM once nit-picked how I have him directions to my apartment. I like how it puts the blame on us, like we are actively deciding to put him in the Friend Zone after careful deliberation, like we are all-powerful. No. They pursue us relentlessly. They are active, we are passive. A lot of the times, we are just being polite because turning them down is dangerous and we can get murdered for it. We cannot win. My LVM ex was a lawyer dedicated to getting rid of an age of consent... he had “feminist” arguments for it like once we have an age, 18, men fetishize that age... there are lawyers and law professors rallying to have NO age of consent... this is a literal movement among “esteemed” academics and it might happen. I’m terrified of our pedophile culture.

Way to raise your daughter to learn that being treated and treating women in your life (our mothers, daughters, and sisters) is our way of fighting the patriarchy where we are usually taught from birth to step over each other to bow down to and serve men!! THIS. I kind of hope male lurkers are taking note. It’s incredible how much they complain about how women have it so much easier with dating when they literally are too chicken to follow through with a date. They’d probably rather spend the night with their hand and a jar of lotion...

I don’t think I can realistically see myself with a man again either. You wouldn’t believe how boy-crazy I was only a handful of years ago. Oh, how the tides have turned, thanks to being abused. I’ll certainly try dating, go on the occasional dinner or lunch date, and check Hinge every so often. But I’m planning the rest of my life assuming I will be single, and I’m not even 30 yet. I think porn watching in general is a huuuuuge red flag for these reasons, from what I’ve seen it’s mostly white women with WOC being featured only as fulfilling some fetish or fantasy, with a white guy. Porn harbors racism.

This is really enlightening. I never realized how much they really depend on us to literally function in society. That’s why we cannot give a flagrantly unwashed man with tattered clothes and bad skin a chance. They’re not having a bad day, they’re not depressed, they’re not just quirky and nerdy, they really just want us to do the heavy duty work of making them presentable.

Interesting take. I’ve literally had job interviews at cafes before, too! For crappy minimum-wage jobs. So, what does it tell you that someone will interview you at a cafe but not take you out to dinner, unless it’s a REALLY swanky job and they REALLY want you? It tells you that our society KNOWS that a dinner meeting suggests you’re being courted and they want to woo you.

There’s nothing “genetic” about this. It’s spoon-feeding viewers an ideal of “beauty” that is racist and practically unattainable. And what about women’s preferences? Why don’t we see widespread advertising campaigns of half-naked men in degrading outfits uncomfortably smiling at the camera? Maybe because it’s not about “genetics” at all, it has always been about objectifying and humiliating women for male pleasure.

“There’s absolutely no information on their relationship” I’d beg to differ. Two huge pieces of information right off the bat. 1) I decided to clean 2) my fiancé’s room. HVM clean after themselves. And this wasn’t picking up a few things off the floor. She spent HOURS cleaning his room! Imagine how filthy it must have been. I used to describe myself as having a high sex drive (mostly in my Pick Me days). Sex is a really quick and easy way to get a nearly INSTANT flood of oxytocin. I wonder if you’re simply craving intimacy. Of course, there’s nothing wrong about wanting and loving sex, and it absolutely can be a dealbreaker if he can’t perform or satisfy you. But deep intimacy should be felt even when cuddling and hanging out, in my opinion.

I’m torn about this. It’s sad we’re at the point where we’re posting signs to discreetly help women out of dangerous situations (which presupposes women are likely to be in those situations and directly declining the man’s advances is so dangerous that we need a secret language with other women to help us out). But as long as this is the reality, I’d rather have women help out women then leave us to fend for ourselves.

I hope you experience it one day. First off, normally, sex isn’t a huge part of a relationship. It’s definitely a bonus, but emotional bond and friendship is the main thing. That was a huge realization for me. Formerly, my relations with men (I won’t call them relationships) were all about kinky sex. But I learned that they were emotionally dead. Slowly growing a real relationship with a man is truly amazing. Sex becomes like the cherry on top. It’s always safe, warm, and stress-free. Unlike kin…

Why are we made to pretend we are treated fair and square in all realms of life? We are NOT treated equal. Reddit is full of misogynistic men and pick mes but so is the world. I just heard a BBC report about the PornHub news and the female reporter expressed concern about the website’s “client base” and emphasized that “only a hundred videos” have been verified as illegal and were removed immediately. We all know that 50/50 usually ain’t it but the CONVERSATION should be 50/50. If he goes on for 3 minutes about his pets, siblings, educational background, favorite shows, he should be asking you to reciprocate and listen to you for just as long.

Some therapists are pick-me’s. My ex regularly spoke with a female therapist who didn’t discourage any of his behavior. He’d just paint himself in a sympathetic light and she gave him the validation he craved.

One of the reasons I am child-free. An increasing amount of men are closeted pedos. The conviction rates are skyrocketing. Instead of living in constant fear my partner will cause irrevocable harm to my child, I’ll just live a peaceful child-free existence.

The look on the guy’s face on the right.. is he proud? This is just weird to me. Obviously the picture is meant to make fun of his body but he just stands there smiling and proud, like it’s a joke. Are we as a society are to accept men who let themselves go and brush it off? The societal acceptance of the “dad bod” and the insanely high standards for women need to stop. I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. Why doesn’t anyone talk about love anymore? I feel like no one man aspires for it, or they’ve given up. It’s so sad, it makes me tear up. I’m convinced most of them are obsessed with competition and want rush to their male friends or online to show off their latest trophy. Men don’t prioritize love. IMO a dick pic is a good way to determine size prior to having sex, if size is important to you. And let’s face it, it probably is... of course, this would be only after several dates. And OF COURSE only if you ASKED for it, not unsolicited. I just feel like there’s literally no way to tell dick size without seeing it with our own eyes. Yes! I dated someone 10 years older and looking back, what I hated the most is he didn’t value me for my thoughts, ideas, the causes I am passionate about. Yes! Guys just should NOT date if they can’t afford it. Tons of people are struggling right now financially, but if a guy can’t put aside a little money for dating, they need to focus on that not picking up women. 89% only reactive messages is mind-blowing and sobering. I unmatch guys All. The. Time. because they are lame conversationalists. The fact they MOST of them prefer women who can “keep up a conversation 😂” tells you how much labor they expect women to do. They’re basically saying please compliment me like I’m the belle of the ball, introduce new topics, ask questions, and make jokes while I sit here and react.

Talking positively about an ex is almost worst than negatively. The best is a quick and neutral acknowledgement of a past relationship and moving on to focusing on you.

Hold up, finally finishing your BS? Congrats! Who cares what your ex is making? Life isn’t about making money. Make enough to be comfortable, but you’re on your own path. Do what you love. Money will follow. Cut out toxic people from your life ASAP! You got this.

I bet she added so much to the psychological damage of the victims, knowing an adult could’ve saved them and done the right thing but decided not to. I don’t see how it’s any different from intervening when you see a violent crime committed in a public place. No decent person would do nothing or worse, encourage it.

Real quotes from Hinge profiles I’ve seen: “We’re the same type of weird if you can do this without being emotionally invested.” “Looking for a good looking girl to fool around with.” “I’m seeing someone right now so keep that in mind.” “I’m here for only a good time not a long time.” “I am currently in an open relationship.” I still have it because it’s better than Tinder but I’m thinking of switching to OKC soon. True, but in my case the current girlfriend was in her 30’s. I was in my early 20’s. I told her he had unprotected sex with me for MONTHS the previous year, while he was seeing her. She didn’t care. I guess that was before they were “exclusive.”

If sex had zero health risks I may miss it. But considering the risks, the inevitable battle with telling men to wear condoms, the scheduling an STD test in the middle of a pandemic because condoms are never 100% or because he wore you down with his insistence not to wear one, it’s absolutely not worth it.

So inaccurate. Most of us get more emotionally stable as we get older, as long as we don’t have a LVM sucking the life out of us. The facial expression in the “36 & up” box is more like me in my early twenties. Facial expression in “18-24” box is more like me now.

I think some people, men and women, genuinely believe they are defending and protecting sex workers from our “judgment.” When we say that sex work is demeaning, they think we’re attacking the WOMEN and come running to their defense. I think they mentally group us with religious or conservative groups who wear pearls and turtlenecks and don’t believe in sex before marriage, and then fight against that imaginary version of us they created. I wonder why you posted these findings out of context. The article itself isn’t misleading but you left out key facts. Like male violence produces six times more injuries than female violence, and 84% of spousal murder victims are female. The violence you quoted refers to any kind of hitting, even if it’s in self-defense, and even if it inflicts no injury. Tell me, if someone picks you up, throws you, or hits you, how easy do you think it’d be to sit there and take it, without so much as touchin…

Yay! I was thinking today also, women are way less likely to be groped at a restaurant than in a bar, I’m thinking dive bars but I’ve been groped at a fancy speakeasy bar, too. There’s just way more inappropriate behavior at bars. Men think they can grab you. Maybe because children aren’t allowed and it’s an “adults only” atmosphere? Who knows.

“Most men are stronger than the average woman.” As feminists, we want to resist this but it is so true. It can be a man that’s your height or a few inches taller than you, and you could be physically fit, and he will still be able to overpower you if that’s what he wants. He doesn’t even have to be in good shape, either. This is so shocking realization if you’ve ever been overpowered and physically controlled by a man. The sense of helplessness is overwhelming.

Kind of unrelated, but I saw the YouTube video of her doing ASMR and she says how she watches it every night. Please call the police. If you ever catch them outside their apartment fighting, like in a common area or the parking lot, that might be the best time to call because it’s less likely police will engage in misconduct... it’s out in public, if there is any misconduct you or others can view and record it. If that’s impossible then stand by your apartment door when they come, signaling that you are a witness to any potential misconduct.

I recently deleted a selfie of me with rainbow hair (a silly filter) because I think it was giving “cool girl” vibes.
