the most frustrating thing is that when you you point it out, the guy will just cut you off and deny it, and you having said something will then make zero difference to his behavior. If you try and match them in velocity on cutting off-there speech, watch how quickly a fight/argument will escalate. its a lose/lose situation.

That said, a small win for me did happen its a bit of a story time, but its was pretty good;

I worked as a bar manager in a busy bar, that had some high risk incidents occasionally and part of managing that was to have security meetings with our 'head of security' who was this really old guy that would drag on for ages repeating himself and he really waffled a lot, but hadn't been working in bars for a long long time, and was basically a useless consultant, but was mostly harmless, just loved the sound of his own voice.

So im in a meeting with about 6 or 7 other managers from venue, and the topic of a serious incident that had put bar employees at risk was up for discussion, so the security consultant was doing a big lecture on how this should be handled and was getting really overly worked up, and it was becoming obvious he had lost what his point was and began saying "The staff here know the risk of coming to work every day, and so they don't need to be told about a gunman..' and I cut him off because Id had enough, and he was really reaching saying what he was (My opinion is that no bartender (im in Australia and no one has guns here) comes to work knowing that there are risks about being shot at work. He was making the dumbest point to justify not giving staff an option to leave the venue when such a threat had been made (I would absolutely give my staff the choice to leave or do what they felt was best, they are adults not children)

So I cut him off sort of like to shut him up, which is a bold move for me and maybe it was because im a giiirrrlll (quick aside after YEARS of meetings he ALWAYS forgot my name, said a different random girls name) BUt anyhow, HE SNAPPED, and jumoped down my throat, to yell at me for 'cutting him off' and to never do that, and LET HIM FINISH! I went bright red, and felt so shocked, I shut my mouth and "LeT Him FinISH" he kept waffling on, and the other managers were ALL clearly scared now and uncomfortable, so patiently patiently I waited. Then when coast was clear, he said all pschyo-politely that I could now SpEaK

So I softly and calmly bring up how I thought that his claim about keeping staff in the dark about threats was unfair and that I wouldn't be doing it, HE CUTS ME OFF, AND BOY OH BOY was I ready;

I launched at him, That I HADN'T finished, and that If I can't cut him off he needs to shut up and let me speak.

It was SUPER awkward, because I am always so fucking quiet and agreeable, but I cooled my jets and continued.

After the meeting he takes me aside to appologise, and I say, no worries, no hard feelings and brush it off cuz im feeling sorry for him cuz i PWNED him infront of everyone.

THen GET THIS, next meeting like a month later, he starts meeting with an announcement; he claims that he is a workplace bully and that he is resigning, and gets up from table and leaves and makes sure to apologize to me in-front of everyone for bulling me. I was actually kind of pissed off that he made it look like it was my fault that he was leaving, and a lot of managers immediate reactions were Awwwww nooo, why?? But like whatever, glad hes gone, was 10/10 useless position anyway.

In STEM, the idea is you have to be smart or have had to go through schooling and thus a threat.

They feel intimidated and are scared to let us speak. There is a guy at my office who I think about sucker punching at least once a week because of this.

What annoyed me the most in this vid is they said nothing of substance when they interrupted her. One guy literally said "UMMMMMM so YEAH" like why did you interrupt her for that?

I think the reason why it sounds fake is because the conversations taking place sound completely unrelated to each other. But even if it is fake it a glaringly accurate representation of what women face in male dominated sectors or just in general.

I’m suspicious this video is a fake and she muted herself. But she is also a very poor speaker and needs to work on that, if she wants people to take her more seriously.

Okok it’s such a huge problem, bc even though we’re allowed there, it’s their world. Literally every single team I’ve worked on or group I’ve been in, I’ve had to be a cold and a brash, or I get treated like the entertainment. They call me bossy and a bitch but at least they listen to me.
