I no longer have any friends I mistrust. I believe the women in my life are good women who would not flirt with my partner, would not bitch about me, and would not throw me under the bus. If any of them broke this trust I wouldn’t hesitate to get rid of them. I would much rather introduce a guy to my friends before he is my boyfriend. I want their perspectives. I want a second set of eyes and ears if I go to the bathroom in a crowded bar. I will stay in that damn bar for fifteen minutes so I can…

Honestly , I’d prefer to have a platonic marriage with a woman at this point ( for the purpose of us raising a child or two together). I’m not seeing any downsides lol (I say platonic because I am UNFORTUNATELY straight)

The men who are into threesomes are not demonised by society and will share this information without you needing to ask, because they are proud and will use it to gauge your willingness to repeat that experience. Men will not share things that they are ashamed of. So if you ask about the threesome or prostitute and they’re ashamed, they will lie. If they’re not ashamed they will be upfront. The point is you never know if you’re getting the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth- I’m no…

Be honest at the beginning? No. You don’t need half your tinder pool knowing your business. The only way to handle this question is to laugh and roll your eyes and ask if they’re 12

I will add one exception: some families will love you immediately because they recognise that you are way too good for their son and they’re afraid their broken ding dong of a progeny will die alone otherwise... So it’s a red flag either way

At 28 I’m ten years past the age of majority in my country so I guess that makes me An Old. But I’m in the club to dance with my (usually younger ) girl friends and for an excuse to dress up. If you’re The Old , whatever that is in your local scene, man or woman, exclusively there to prey on 18yos then that’s a different story altogether. Nobody wants uncle Tony with his unbuttoned shirt and gold chain on the dance floor.

Hell fucking no. I broke up with a boyfriend in my early 20s (he was the same age) because he said porn watching was his right, and I thought THAT wasn’t ok. I share this as perspective: this man is vile, this isn’t about porn, in fact this is the type of dude who would watch porn , cheat, etc , to spite you.

I mean, this advice only works if we’re telling women to avoid dating at all in their early 20s. Which, tbh, I wish I was told (but let’s face it I wouldn’t have listened). HVM in that age range are usually engaged or even married to their high school /early college sweethearts. The rest need to keep cooking, so to speak. Notable exceptions are religious men from pro-marriage cultures (and obviously they aren’t for everyone)

Lmao who the fuck is she talking to? You already got picked girl, why are you yelling? Why are you so concerned with others’ relationships? Did your man “thought that counts” your Christmas present and this is your way of coping with cognitive dissonance? Your ex friend broke up with a boyfriend because he hadn’t taken her out for months and that concert was the last straw. You seem to know a lot about your “exfriend”’s new relationship too. You are allowed to set your own boundaries with whoever you want and that includes your sister. Your sister might have hated the messiness of the apartment but she’s a grown up too and she chose to be in that environment. She seems to have a pretty set pattern of being an Overfunctioner, and the role of Underfunctioner has shifted from you to her boyfriend. And she might be exhausted from either of you but she’s as much part of the dysfunction as you were Now, breaking up the relationship betwee…

Pretty much. And it doesn’t really matter if you have family like that, it can be a distant cousin, it can be a friend’s loving husband... basically you’re only surrounded by the absolute best so he’s either gotta step up or fuck off. And they should feel ashamed for trying to lowball you / women and they should feel ashamed for being stingy.

I talk about how the HVM in my family(my cousin, my brother in law) treat their partners. I make it known that their approval is important to me and they’d only approve of a man who fit into the picture and was similar. I do what the handbook suggests and I’ll add a racial element if it’s needed. “Oh, you don’t pay for dates? Is that like a... white thing? Sorry I don’t mean to be rude I’m just really used to men taking care of things”.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/12/20 09:51 AM

I would love it if there was a post from members who have past the 1 year mark with a partner they believe is HVM and what they’ve learned along the way etc. I’m in a new relationship and while I am in no rush to label him HV because I know how new it is, I feel like the relationship part of FDS i haven’t quite understood yet whereas the dating parts I made sense of

Tacky is the perfect word. I worked as a server once and oh my god this regular couple always made such a point of paying separately, like by item not even halving the bill.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/12/20 05:17 AM

I definitely think culture and race is a huge part of dating and I’d love to have more discourse about it on here. I don’t rule out white men but I definitely make a point of communicating that I expect them to adapt to me and not the other way around.

Fair enough. The dudes who usually lie to get sex are the ones who haven’t got much else to offer. The men I know who are , well, very pretty, have never needed to be anything besides upfront.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/12/20 02:39 AM
16

Men don’t even like sex as much as they claim to. They like power and validation. If men liked sex that much we wouldn’t hear of successful men with beautiful wives cheating on them with homely girls. My friend’s boyfriend has (by my definition) cheated on her, despite her glowing up over the last year, and wanting more sex than he does. Wouldn’t have any women posting on Dead Bedrooms if most men actually liked sex and not just porn and abuse

In Islam it is not a woman’s job to contribute financially to a household at all. His money is there money, her money is her money. This is because child support doesn’t exist and neither does spousal maintenance (beyond a one off “leaving” fine a man has to pay, which is written into the initial marriage deed) If this man wanted to marry a Muslimah then tough, this is what you get. It’s a sin to make your wife pay, I don’t make the rules 💅🏽

I’ve never met a HVM (or someone who was on the way there) that cared what gender his kids might be one day. If anything, the nicer guys I’ve met in my life would prefer to have daughters (because they’re not macho dudebros so they fear having sons who are little shits)

Some men (neglectful ones) want avoidant women- women who won’t nag them, won’t ask them for anything, won’t care what or the who they do Some men (abusive ones) want needy women- women they can paint as psychos, after they exploit all their physical, sexual and spiritual labour first. Someone to stroke their ego and their dick. Each man can change what he wants, day to day.

Men very rarely ever leave relationships. Doesn’t matter what the relationship is like. They will cheat, they will abuse, they will check out, but they’d rather stay in their comfort zone. Source: the only time a man ever left me, any time a guy asked me what happened in my last relationship and I said that I was dumped, they were genuinely pikachu shocked face. I’ve never seen that face when discussing any other male behaviour, and one of them just straight up said “yeah I just never hear that”

Or just don’t blab about them. At this point in my life, nobody knows about my sex life but me. My girl friends don’t need to know, and I don’t care to know about theirs. Even in a different context you never know when someone’s going to weaponise this information.

What’s your point? This subreddit is against kink in all forms. Not to mention, fantasising about being a victim isn’t the same as fantasising about hurting somebody. I’m not sure why that needs to be spelled out.

I only reply if I have a witty remark that will entertain my friends, tbh. If a man has gone 20yrs+ being his bum self why would he take a random woman’s perspective seriously?

But the thing is, if she leaves, she’s also treated like shit for society for “giving up”, especially if they have kids. That’s why I said “it’s not much of a choice”, even though if it was appropriate, I’d force her to read every inch of FDS until her eyes bled. Because she wants to be a HVW. She’s expressed that. I just wish she’d tap into her inner rage.

The threat of inconvenience, aka, a break up. Inconvenience because someone else isn’t doing the housework. Inconvenience because no sex. Inconvenience because they’ll miss their kids. Inconvenience because they’ll be financially worse off.

I’ve called him out on that. I’ve told him that when he’s vague in responses, he frustrates his partner, he makes her do the leg work , and that she’ll resent him, because anyone would. He’s getting more communicative, but fucking hell, I don’t know how they end up so emotionally inept

I go to a mixed gym, but the women’s section is awesome. There are 4 power cages, some cardio equipment, DBs go up to 10kg, and enough plates for most women’s’ needs. You do have to walk through part of the main floor to get there though, so you still get a reminder that men are dogs.

I want to add a warning about steroids lite: these are products like AlphaMars (and other marketed “test boosters”) and SARMS. Make no mistake these are dangerous and not things you want to find in your bae’s bathroom cabinet. My ex used both of these products. Because he wasn’t actually asking me any specific questions. I replied “well there’ a lot there. what would you like to know?”, and he said “I’d like to just start anywhere and see where it goes”. I hear you. I never last long on these apps before being too grossed out by humanity to continue. I like Hinge’s prompts, I think the app is well-designed, and I favour men who reply to the prompts instead of just sending a “like”. It still draws the same men as any other platform, but you can report people who aren’t seeking a relationship.

Context: First strike was him telling me he wants to hear my “insights and experiences” about my job. I asked him to clarify and he refused. Second strike, there is a question in my hinge prompts that I want men to answer, it’s carefully chosen as a vetting tactic. He kept trying to make me answer it before answering it himself. Yup. And they’ll hit you with some shit like “I don’t think I’m very good at it”- yeah well you’re not gonna get any better without doing it, come on slugger, it’s practise time. I’m lucky that I can finish from penetration but it’s not the case for most women and on principle I’m just never going to let a dude into my body unless he loves oral, is confident about his skills, and then delivers. I wouldn’t personally use that tactic to vet someone, the last thing I want to convey is “poor boundaries”- what if he had agreed to pick you up? What would have been your next step? Clearly no loss with this guy though, yuck
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/09/20 08:14 AM

It’s easier for me to cum from penetration than oral, so the test for me is whether they’re good at oral (and love giving it). I’ve had too many partners stop giving me oral because they don’t think it’s necessary since sex does the trick. Nawwww, we aren’t basing our sex life on probabilities, luv. It’s the PRINCIPLE
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/09/20 06:56 AM

There’s an implication in that rhetoric that attractive women only care about looks. The subtext is “women only go for chads. Not guys like me in a stable career who have useful skills” Edit to add: imagine being with this guy, finding out he’s only with you because he thinks you’re mediocre.

This is so true. I think men’s’ privilege of not having as many expectations on them to look good means those Incel types have no fucking idea how much effort a “chad” puts into their appearance with all the things you listed. Why is it either/or? He can be nice to service staff, generous with his time, respectful of his exes and STILL pay for a date. Nowhere on FDS does it recommend that women be financially dependent.

One of my coworkers bragged to a break room full of us about how she had paid for her uncle’s dinner because he’s sexist and “that sure showed him”. It took all my strength not to look straight at two of my coworkers who are in relationships with HVM. One of them then said “Did you really show him though” and I had to leave the room because I was about to pee myself laughing. You know when I feel empowered? The particular guy who comes to mind actually told the single mom he was dating that she was lucky to have him. He was disgusting in every way. The single guys I know (I use “know” broadly. They are the friendship group of my NVMX), date single moms because they think they will be easier to manipulate, and that the single moms won’t leave them. Agreed (although I’d never talk about another woman’s appearance). Life is too short to have a man have luke warm regard for any part of me. What I care about when vetting in this situation is HOW they speak about their father/ step fathers, and then secondarily their mothers. This is based on my own experience and some awareness of intergenerational domestic violence. I have a friend who posts on some of the more “casual dating” (aka sex seeking) subs, but i don’t know about relationship oriented ones (maybe they exist for the US). I mean, my option is myself. I do find it hard to date because I know I should be dating multiple prospects so I don’t get tunnel visioned, but finding one guy who doesn’t absolutely suck is hard enough- I’m in a female dominated career, don’t go out to drink (and even if I did everybody sits on their phones at the bar swiping through tinder), and OLD is full of trash. This is what I’ve learned. Unfortunately I’m unable to completely implement everything because I have a lifelong friend who I don’t have the heart to cut off. Partially because she is slowly, VERY SLOWLY, improving as a person, but mostly because we’ve been friends so long and I don’t have the heart to do so because she’s isolated from others. There’s a trend in my city of a certain race of men converting to Islam while in jail. I was chatting to a friend’s dad (one of the only HVM I know) who is an elder of that community. He said “They’re only doing it for the polygyny”. I responded “Can they even keep one woman happy?” And he laughed and said “Fuck no.”

I’m really hesitant to lump masturbation in the same category as porn and casual sex. I know that my own upbringing made masturbation feel worse than sex and I wonder how many times I sought others to meet my sexual needs rather than meeting them myself. I didn’t have sexual trauma, I just always had a high libido.

Years ago I knew a guy who was poly. Well he identified as a “relationship anarchist” which is poly with even less morals. His relationship became poly when his partner- a very socially anxious and awkward woman- became pregnant. Very convenient for him, knowing she lacked all capacities to pursue other relationships. He had two other partners- a married woman who spilled all his secrets after she realised that he was using everybody (despite claiming he was enlightened and not jealous and monog…

My psychiatrist has a marriage counselling protocol that is only 4 sessions. Meets with the couple once to see their dynamic, meets with them separately, meets a fourth time to give them feedback. After that, he’s like “fuck off plz”. He says that any long term couples counselling is a waste of time and that if a couple was meant to be together they wouldn’t need more than that to make it work. I’m inclined to agree, for all the other reasons mentioned in this thread.

The other side of this is that men who want to spend a lot of time with you at the very beginning are just trying to speed up the sex. Men are aware that most women don’t want first date sex, and they’re happy to have 4 dates in a week if that’s what it takes.

I’m not sure what this comment was, but I will second that oversharing is never great. Nobody needs to hear your trauma, and bonding over shared traumas often leads to dysfunctional platonic relationships too. Of course you can tell your friends when you know each other better, but doing so at the beginning draws both people in to play unhealthy roles. Men do not respect women as survivors of abuse when we tell them our tales. At best, they might feel paternalistic and want to “save us”. At wors…

If a man has a small infant and is dating, I can’t help but judge. 0-6 years is a very vulnerable time for kids and a man willing to risk having a little one become attached to his flavour of the month isn’t a man with good judgement.

You’re allowed to decide your own dealbreakers. If a degree is necessary for you, that is totally valid. In Australia, qualified tradesmen make bank. Factor in that they’ve probably been earning money longer than a guy who went to uni, so they’ve usually got more assets accumulated by the same age. The unfortunate thing is that they’re not necessarily learned in other ways and working class Australians are probably more sexist and racist on average. So for me it’s case by case

I have terrible parents and I’ve dated guys with great parents who were far less emotionally mature, insightful and mentally stable than I am. The difference here is that as women we are socialised to take care of our shit and men are socialised to use the females in their life as free therapy. I wouldn’t bother with a guy who had a tough upbringing unless I knew he had years of therapy and other self improvement.

You’ve admitted you have an anxious attachment style. Attachment styles can definitely be worked on and healed from, but you have to avoid people and situations that trigger you. This is a man that triggers you. You’re going to be worried after every date that he will go back into radio silence. Even if he is legitimately interested, and this is just how often he wants to communicate, that is not going to be a good relationship dynamic for you.

This is peak insecure LVM. A HVM might be hurt that you’re not as exclusive as he is but why would he send this whiny drivel? He would pull himself up and go “I’ve got no right to act like this until I’ve committed”. He’s manipulating you

I think it’s important to recognise the differences in the pandemic across the world. Hes talking about women giving up on relationships. Sir, what are you talking about? The men don’t WANT relationships , we are giving up on entanglements and situationships. Secondly, fitness is all well and good but who are you talking about? Is there a trend I’m unaware of where overweight women are chasing fit, successful men and crying about rejection? Or are you trying to tell all women to be fit even if they’re willing to date a dad bod?

Honestly, my NVM ex whenever I tried to end it would bring up how good our chemistry/ physical affection/ sex was. It’s all he had. He knew he couldn’t be wealthy, stable, noble, so the last manly trait he could strive for was sexual prowess. His father had been the same- a charming, drug addicted penis on legs.

Great post. Definitely guilty of having dated 1, 2 and sometimes a combination. I’ve had the opportunity to feel what “obsessed” is like with people I ended up disregarding because of other issues, and there is such a feeling of sanity and security- I didn’t end up spending a single second wondering if they liked me, were seeing other people, or were wanting something real. Unfortunately they failed test #2. I think we should all be seeking #1 as a bare minimum and from that pool, culling incomp…

Men can fuck even women who they don’t find attractive. It doesn’t take that much to make a dick hard. They’re happy to shut their eyes and think of someone else.

Insecurity can lead to infidelity. Some people are a leaking cup and will never feel stable no matter how much love you pour into them; it is never enough. How do you know he’s insecure? What are you basing that off? Nerves don’t have to mean insecurity

Things I learned from reading that: 1. Don’t give a cent to men. 2. Don’t own any living creature with a man. You came with a dog? Cool, I’ll pet it. But I’m not spending a single cent on it. I already knew not to touch any ~artist~ with a ten foot pole

I only have one male friend, he had a shitty dad , and essentially was raised the way most first born daughters were raised: as a confidante , third parent, and maid. He’s married with two daughters so he’s very conscious of the world his girls might grow up in and tries to be better than that. I’ve found gay males to hate women just as much as straight men do if not more. Edit to add: I don’t think I’ll ever have another male friend. I’ve sworn off. My psychiatrist, an 85 year old man, told me the same thing. He said that crying in front of a man is the worst thing a woman can do, because unlike women, men don’t perceive tears to be touching, strong, raw, and honest. They just have an internal meltdown because they don’t know how to deal with it, so they perform the mental gymnastics to convince themselves that we cry because we are weak and inferior, to make them feel less powerless in their ineptitude. He told me this, and all I had said …

It’s all wel and good to talk about signs like they are the warning label on a bottle of bleach, but attachment, love, sex, and circumstance lead women to wilfully ignore them. How many of those “there were SIGNS” men have abusive parents that they’re still in contact with? Not so easy then, huh? How many have shitty friends who are awful humans that they’re still willing to share a beer with? I read the best friend one as advice to fuck your female best friend. Which is just as fucking awful. Bisexuality isn’t an opt-in game that you play to be edgy and cool. Absolutely, and sex is risky for women in the best of times. No BC is 100% effective including condoms. What the hell is a “fwb” gonna do if an unexpected pregnancy occurs?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/08/20 08:50 PM

See, even when I’ve been okay with casual sex, I’ve never wanted a fwb, exactly because of situations you’ve described. Like let’s face it, most men are terrible friends to each other- they don’t provide emotional support to one another and that’s why men use us free therapy and one stop shops to meet all their needs while providing fuck all in return. I’ll add another way it happens. They will stockpile all your stories of shitty exes, and when you break up with them, they will try to stop you by saying “You always do this, you always give up on relationships/ break men’s hearts/ etc” or “No wonder X treated you so badly, you frustrate men into abusing you!!”

I think a lot of women “play” emotional unavailability as a survival mechanism/ reactive behaviour to constant heartbreak. Love is a risky venture for us- physically, financially, emotionally, biologically. Men have some financial and emotional risk but that’s about it.

Years ago, before FDS existed, I was on a male dominated forum. I’m not sure how the topic came up, but I said I was okay with a partner watching porn because even though I was against it I knew all men watched porn so what can ya do... it was a man who said “Why the hell would that be okay? I can’t believe women think so little of themselves that they accept their partners watching porn. You can have higher standards”. It was something I needed to hear, desperately

Yep. If all your dates are public, then a man has to have some cheek to even broach this topic... what’s he gonna say? “Why haven’t we had sex yet?”- a respectful guy is going to feel like an asshole for even bringing that up.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/07/20 11:40 PM

Disrespect and laziness are unintentional? Hell no. They are absolutely intentional. Men choose laziness because they know women will pick up the slack.

Polyandry doesn’t end up working because the only men who agree to it are the ones who are so unattractive to other women that they will just “put up” with it (or bisexual men, but thats a doozy for another day) There’s a tv show in Australia called “you can’t ask that” which is about people in alternative lifestyle modes being asked all the typical “offensive” questions. There was a woman with two boyfriends and honestly, they were hideous nerdy gamer types and she clearly had both by the balls

Lust can lead to bad decisions even when the sex wasn’t that good (or it was good but infrequent aHEM aHEM broken boners aHEM ). Unfortunately our vaginas care little for our hearts or brains. Selfish organs

Take it from women in our mid/late 20s- those men don’t wanna commit. Your age is their excuse. I’m 28 and I don’t know any men my age except religious ones who are looking to settle down.

God, I wonder just how many things they do make up about their romantic or sexual history. Like not even exaggerate but straight up make shit up.

ThAts a great point. The competitiveness of “winning” someone whose heart is elsewhere. Ugh, yuck.

I refuse to fall for the same type of feminism that encourages porn and “fwb culture”. If a man wants to impress me, he will do everything in his power to do so. Including paying for dates, pulling out my chair, and making sure I got home safe after.

I felt like her “standards” were more borne from a place of insecurity than anything else. You could see sometimes when she was saying positive mantras that she had this dubious expression like she didn’t believe herself. She seemed like she was rejecting herself before others could reject her by being socially off. When I think of FDS I think of poise.

I think male friends are a good way to reinforce FDS principles for me, personally. I use the term friend loosely here- to mean close contact male who isn’t family or a romantic partner. All but one are most definitely LVM (the hvm is married and won’t be mentioned here). What they do provide is an insight into how men treat women in the dating scene. 1- is definitely a LVM in HVM clothing- he has houses , he is fit and active and friendly, great career. He has strung a woman along for two years…

Are parks open? What’s stopping him cooking you (or buying you) a nice, three course meal, with decent picnic ware? Something quality, not hummus and ritz crackers. If there’s only house dates available, then I’ll echo everyone else: you don’t need to date that badly. You have NO evidence that under normal circumstances this guy would actually be putting effort in.

No. Why is he on apps? Every second he spends on apps is seconds he could be picking up trash by him damn self

(Brown woman of a diff kind here- middle eastern)... I think part of it is a way to get power in a community where they feel powerless. Gossip, hierarchy, trying to come out on top in communities where men are seen as some rare commodity and you’re nothing without one. Pickmeism is inter generational like others have said- mums will worship their sons and expect their daughters to clean up after their brothers. My mother tried to talk me out of breaking up with a brown boy who was showing contro…
