Fundamental Dating Skills! Sounds as serious as the topic should be for women. We get so mistreated by those supposed to see through our traits. Sending you a big hug.

Coming to terms with the reality that I'll never be a vet or a biologist or anscientist as I wanted as a kid is hard but necessary to open up the doors I can actually access. :)

You're being abused and there are indicators that you could even fall into 'violencia de género' laws in Spain. Let me know if you wanna talk, I'm Spanish also and if I can give you a hand with something I'll be glad to.

Look for red flags so you can block them before they have a chance to disrespect you directly. As ASeaOfQuotes already told you, don't even consider men above 23 years old. I'd also add at the slightest sign of porn use or liking sexualized pictures on social media, ghost him. The handbook offers a lot more guidance and specific red flags to look for (is he paying attention to what you say and responding appropriately?). The second tip I'd give you is do whatever you can to shift your interest o…

He's not "the type to delve into his problems" so instead of treating him like an adult and ignoring his problem you're going to forcefully baby him while he insults you. Then instead of walking away to do better things you want to spend your time, money and effort to go belly up and beg for respect? Are you out of your mind, sis?

Oh it is hard. Very. I am not implying that you should validate yourself. "Should" is kind of tyrannical here. What I am saying is that we are the way we are, and trying to put a mask on might work for a while. But you know people will be liking that mask, not you, and you then develop a fear of the mask falling off and people realizing the real you and disliking it. That's why I say be careful, because the price you pay is high in terms of internal suffering. If you struggle socially it might b…

Stop contacting her. When you catch yourself thinking about this story, do some quick breath meditation and grounding and continue doing something else. Stop talking about him and her. Just stop. It's not easy, like a medical treatment it doesn't work overnight. But like a medical treatment if you apply it consistently you'll get cured from the affliction.

Be very careful about changing yourself to "attract" men. You might get more attention but of what quality and at what price? Do you have female friends?

Stop rationalizing it. You don't have to list endless qualities about him to be allowed to dislike him. Throw him in the trash and enjoy yourself.

Their own parents are probably some terrible combination of childhood trauma and substance abuse. These cycles don't pop out of thin air. This poor woman probably doesn't know any better. My heart shrinks thinking of the darkness in her soul.

I'm sorry girl but I'm cringing hard. You're not a man, being a man isn't a good thing (it actually predisposes you to develop an unwashed and crumbly asscrack). Yikes. If you slip up and send a huge paragraph to a man, just block him and move on. No big deal we all did it, but I don't think making a post for it does you any favors. Sending you love.

Can we please get a post flair for stories of male grossness and fake incompetence? This stuff amuses me to no end. The sad part is women are socially gaslit to doubt whether it is reasonable to call men out for leaving literal dingle berries around Jesus f christ.

This is one aspect of relationships with men that I wish we talked about more: how deep it cuts to realize we've been lied to and used for months or years. I haven't spoken to my ex in a long time and also find myself thinking about him often. Not out of love but mostly out of a desire to reestablish my self esteem and my dignity. As if he had stolen it and I had to retrieve it from him. The main reason I stick to FDS principles even when I am horny and not in my right mind is that I remember ho…

I stopped dating because I wasn't fine being single and like you I had issues to fix. On the way to fix them I realized that when anxiety is not the driving force of my dating life, I actually don't want men. So now I stay single because I like it better than the troubles men bring. You seem to recognize very well that you aren't in the best mental space to date now so if I were you I'd listen to your own good judgment. Men will still be there when you decide again, we aren't running out of them…

He told you: he just broke up. He feels lonely and wants attention. He wanted to know you still care about him and he got a reaction out of you. He is satisfied with that now. He most likely messaged other women from his past too in between swiping on tinder. Block and delete and move on.

I'm sorry you've invested 5 years in a relationship with him. I am quite sure he finds you a safe option to have while he shops around tinder for a woman he likes better. You said it yourself: if you know you want to marry someone, why wait? The answer is he doesn't want to marry you. He wants the safety and nurturing YOU bring him. What nurturing has he brought to you? What has he done for you that you would be worse off without?

You absolutely can pursue a man and get a relationship out of him! The right question is not whether you can do it. The right question is: how does it feel? How did it feel to get the zoom date you wanted by pursuing? As you said, it didn't feel good. I like your scientific take to this: try it out for yourself and find out whether liberal feminism has your best interest in mind. Well done on that tbh. He was trying to upset her. He got exactly that response. So he poked further to get more upsetness from her. Sad thing is there is no way to win with men online. They have the freedom to be as low key and high key violent as they want, and since moderators of most spaces are men, they will face no consequences. If you ignore them, no big deal for them. They'll continue. If you react, they get the attention they crave so they'll do it again. No way to win.

It is truths like these that really put me off men. Having to behave like this towards someone makes me feel tense, thank goodness I can just stay a spinster. When I think that some decades ago I would've been forced to marry I feel really thankful to our foremothers for all they've done.

Not sure if you are asking why, or if it's a rhetorical question and you're venting, so forgive me if I misinterpret your intention. The why is quite simple: they themselves were raised that way. We reproduce what we saw growing up at home, we don't reproduce what we theoretically think is fair and right. So many of these women might not even be aware they coddle their sons, their bias might be underneath their awareness. If you wanted to vent... I hear you. I'm saddened when women favor men unn…

So sorry you have to be in that situation! In my eyes preserving your self respect is mostly a matter of avoiding sex and doing his chores. If you don't do any of that the rest can be annoying, scary and eroding, but it isn't disrespecting yourself. Do what you have to do to thrive however little you can while you get back on your feet. Avoid confrontation with him as it will add to your suffering. What's your plan for the future?

Well done, sis. You're braver than you think. I'm positive you'll get out of this situation and find peace with your FDS sisters by your side. I don't think contacting his work or his family/friends is a good idea. He will very likely not get disciplined (getting a girl pregnant or cheating on her is not a punishable offense, I don't think) and you are very, very likely to fall into a "crazy ex obsessed with her baby daddy" narrative. Either way (you block now or give him one or two more days) you are being safe and protecting your energy. So do the thing that looking back will make you feel good with yourself. Is it more important to you to give people an extra chance? Or is it more important to you to safeguard your time? To me neither option is better, just what you feel is most important to you. When has complaining on the internet without listening to advice ever gotten anyone out of a messed up situation?
/r/askFDS24/01/21 09:11 AM

Fds is not here to be your valve to blow off extra pressure. Why are you surprised that he continues to behave the same way he has been behaving for weeks or months anyways? Like how can you expect anything different?
/r/askFDS23/01/21 09:09 PM

Block him out from your mind. You already know how he behaves so every day when you wake up tell yourself he will be ungrateful and manipulative today. Then continue with your life doing your best to pretend he isn't there. Get your exit plan ready and when you have your chance make a silent move. Simply disappear. You can't change him. If you could you already would have. So move on mentally and as soon as possible move on physically. Stop arguing, stop expecting good behavior from him, it's on…

Your post history is rather alarming. You might find it useful to worry less about what women should do for men and worry more about what a woman should do for herself.

Let him imagine you'll be swept off your feet by a man who will court you properly and love you well. It will work to your advantage. As for the video game guy, don't. Get used to the silence, not having another guy to fill in a void. And don't confide in any men or risk bonding with him and developing feelings for your own imagination (as you mentioned you are already doing). Men also feel hurt when they are rejected, though. The fact they are selfish, entitled and often violent with the emotional maturrity of a teaspoon does not override their human brain and social nature. That said, I take this into account: They haven't been collectively raised to see relationships with women as the core of their existence. They are collectively taught to take what they want by force, not just by asking. They are taught that they will be wanted or rejected by women depending on t…

The way I see it, a "HVW" is not a book character that you have to put effort into becoming. It's usually who you are under the destructive coping mechanisms you've either learned or been forced to adopt. Most of us have been raised to be low-key servants or supporting actresses to men, so adult women have already amassed impresive skills in anticipating the needs of others, monitoring their moods, valuing their choices and more. Your job is to unlearn all of that, discover the individual woman …

Repeating a narrative that reinforces people's sense of the status quo feels safe. Makes people feel like they understand the world even if they don't like it. Upsetting the status quo offers chances for liberation while also making people feel uncertain. So why do these people keep getting huge followings? Because they don't offer anything new and people feel safe with that. My guess. I hate it. But fds is getting big so that's beautiful. Imagine if you ladies weren't doing this work... I know …

If you let your neighbor borrow sugar that doesn't mean he is forced to come fix your toilet whenever it breaks. Just like he didn't sign a contract when he borrowed sugar you didn't sign a contract by accepting a kindness. Paying for someone's dinner doesn't make them your sexual slave. If you are already having dinner with the kind of man that would murder you for saying no, whether he pays 50% or 100% won't make a difference on whether he decides to attack you or not. He might not be interested in women and just want to make friends, or he might be unaware of personal space as most men are, or he might be doing it to make you uncomfortable and throw you off balance. when I met my bf I thought this is it, I did it, I found the one. This right here is a big problem. You'll be willing to excuse poor behavior and disrespect if you've labeled a man "the one". I disagree with you. People absolutely treat you diferently based on how you look. The same person dressed in a well tailored suit or like a crackhead will elicit very different reactions from people, for example. And so, a beautiful face elicits better reactions from people than an ugly face. Not just that but beautiful people get the "halo effect", that is, they are perceived to be happier, healthier and smarter. I am personally much more inclined to believe that women discard their own intuition and ignore the red flags. And then the dude does something in the same line he's always done just big enough it can't be swept under the rug anymore. And people act surprised when they should just accept their bad judgment and move on instead of pretending the red flags weren't there.

They always come back. Once you have any kind of romantic/sexual contact with a man (even if it's just in his head) he adds you to his fantasy harem. He will come back to each and every woman in his "harem" hoping that they will come back for him to feel validated and that he really never lost you. Men believe in their core that women can only derive self esteem from men's reactions to them. So it is baffling to them when a woman doesn't want men's compliments, men's attention or men altogether. They can't comprehend how someone wouldn't want the thing they believe they want most! Of course an ugly woman doing this breaks their minds even more. They see no value in her, so why should her? That is misogyny, whether you want to call it that or not.

Men over 34 aren't even accepted at sperm banks. And the higher the man's age, the higher the risk for miscarriages, birth defects and the longer it takes to conceive. I love it when women stop focusing on what the man will think, or how he's going to respond, or if he understands why he's getting blocked and accepts it and agrees and gives the woman the go ahead to block him. Seeing a woman just focus on how she feels, how she reacts and what she thinks and stop dedicating a single second to a man the second he proves to her he's shitty... Just ah! So refreshing and invigorating. Pure medicine for my soul.

Yeah! I just thought that it's the ultimate and perfect way to make women perpetually available to the whims and needs of men. If we are told that the golden grial is burined beneath his contempt and hatred for us, we will keep trying to dig for it and stay with him. Whereas if we accept that there is nothing of value in him then the logical conclusion is to leave and take care of ourselves. And that's what patriarchy can't and won't allow.

Deny and deflect any accusation of ghosting. You're just busy, he shouldn't worry. That is if you think you will ever find him in person. You're doing mental gymnastics to justify his behavior. Men think that if they talk to a woman and she gets angry then they won the game. Women's anger is seen as the justification for all misogynistic beliefs like we shouldn't vote, we shouldn't be in positions of power and we are "nAtUraLLy" bad at science/logics/whatever else. Like asking for a witch spell that will suddenly fix his boyfriend so that she doesn't have to throw it in the trash. I think the HVM label feels a bit like the holy grail? Finding one makes you special here so you try and bend reality to adjust to your desire of being "the chosen one". Finding value in your life without a man has no glamour compared to that narrative. I get this feeling sometimes, like a smugness when they say "oh I have a HVM girls LOOK what he BOUGHT for me".

Reminder that you don't know if a guy is high value until after 6 months of committed relationship or until prolonged familiarity has been built. Men chase. Wait until he's got what he was chasing after to declare him HVM. Remember that crushing on men works against you and it is discouraged in order to protect your time, energy and well being from exploitation. Entertaining the HVM label before he has established commitment and investment is not how you avoid a crush.

This advice is so Fing important. If you don't feel good with yourself buying nothing for him, get him a card with a lipstick kiss on it and some 4 sweet words. Men aren't impressed by gifts. They take it as ego boosts, convenience and a sign that you'll put out. Gifting things to a man will actually make him respect you less. And it's a tragedy 'cause I'm sure all of us have women around us who would actually appreciate the gifts and enrich our lives more than any scrote ever will.

He hinted at one of the key concepts about these LVM: he doesn't want to feel bad about himself. See "I don't want her to get hurt" vs "I hate the idea of hurting someone". The second sentence is so generic and a reflection on himself while the first is an actual desire of a specific person to not suffer. This is one of the main reasons most LVM act inconsistently. They try to get benefits, provide zero effort and also feel like the good guy. So they'll aggressively defend a narrative in which t…

Consent is such a low bar anyways. It's the bare minimum to not go to jail, but still fails to pass moral standards of what's right and wrong. What about enthusiasm? If your partner isn't thrilled to have sex with you and you aren't sure whether they actually want to or not then we have a big issue here. "Oh women are so hard to read I can't tell if she wants to have sex". Then DON'T HAVE SEX. If we raised the standard to enthusiasm things would look so different, it's easy to see, easy to read,…

Whenever women in large numbers successfully use a weapon to defend themselves against men, that weapon is taken away. See the illegal hatpins that women used to defend themselves against rape. Sis, stop dating. You are tying your value to a man's dick whims. Seriously, give it a break and get back on your feet. Having dozens of FDSers telling you that it's not your fault and then you insisting that it's your body that caused this? You made a mistake, you don't want to be yelled at for it, fine. But stop insisting on the same point over and over. Stop dating for 6 months and really work on the underlying issues that make it easy for you to fall for exploitative men. He never saw you fo…

This is what young women and girls get bombarded with, at least in Spain where I'm from. If a man pays for you it is humiliating, to avoid humiliation you must always pay for yourself. It's twisted.

Someone pointed out in a different comment thread that women's contempt for "pick-mes" in FDS often has to do with self hatred. So if I feel angry at myself for "allowing" a man to abuse me in the past, whenever I see that behavior in another woman I'll respond to her with the anger that I actually feel for myself. That's why I think an important part of the FDS conversation is self-forgiveness, which we also practice when we are kind to those that made the same mistakes we did. Like it works bo…

Remember that men thrive on attention, positive or negative. FDS's stance on these men is to ignore and block for a reason, actually for 2 reasons: 1) you are rewarding his shitty behavior with attention and 2) you are allowing him to continue injecting his shitty behavior into your life by continuing the conversation. I know you feel frustrated by his audacity, which is exactly what he wants if he can't pump and dump you. So now you're frustrated and have given in to what he wanted instead of j…

I think it's really sad how collectively we are pressured so hard to cater to men and to learn to remain defenseless against them, to live in a "belly up" position in regards to them, that some women end up behaving this way. I'm sorry but I'm not going to laugh at or bash women who put themselves in this kind of situation. For the off-chance they might actually be genuine men interested in courting you, here is a strategy tip (I think it's in the handbook somewhere): Say something like "a friend told me about X restaurant, she said it was amazing!". So true. This doesn't even have to be about gay men. There was a post about how (hetero) men only admire other men, never a woman, because they are only capable of actual love for other men. They may feel attachment to, experience occasional tenderness for, feel sexual attraction to women. But that kind of "love" is not the genuine love (sacrifice, admiration, commitment) they are able to show to other men. The thing is they mean it while they say it, that's why it sounds so genuine. They talk about this "post nut clarity" (gag) because their need to cum tricks their own brains. The idea that we don't know their relationship is not a good defense here. One of the core principles of FDS is that you gauge a man's interest in you by the way he directly and unapologetically pursues a committed relationship with you. If you don't leave room for him to do this you risk filling in the void of his disinterest with your "please pick me" vibes. Ideally women would propose to men and it wouldn't mean anything, but sadly we live in this reality where it does mean a couple things: t…

I don't see it the way you do. Or perhaps I misunderstood you. If a woman gives great, caring treatment to a person who doesn't give it back, who takes it for granted and especially when that woman does not treat herself with that great care, there is a big problem. Women are socialized to externalize their tender love and care, to not use that on themselves. Finding a man to love can be a tactic to avoid giving yourself that love that you so willingly give him. That is the issue the way I see i…

Ugly women are hardly thought of as women or even human at times So true. Ugly men get a lot more respect and human treatment than women. The very men that complain they don't get compliments will joyfully humiliate a woman for her looks.

I have heard it from a couole men's mouths in person (and read it online) that when a man hates himself he can't respect you for being with him. He wants you but if you take him back he will think less of you for it. He still wants you to give him your time and emotional sacrifice and tell you all about how he craves you but he is shit (and has no intention to change but he won't say this out loud). They are trash for putting us in these positions.

Men are still humans. They crave the deep fulfillment of constructive relationships not just with friends and family but with an intimate partner too. The fact they crave it doesn't mean they understand that vidya and porn won't get them what they need. They still make their own choices and shoot themselves in the foot. So they battle the need for something that takes commitment and effort but will fill the void and something immediately pleasurable that will distract them from the void. They en…

Give a standard vague answer. In order to avoid men's manipulations the first step is stop trusting them and stop taking what they say at face value. You give a vague answer and observe them. You have a clear idea of what you want and compare him to that then make your decision of whether you keep dating or just disappear from the face of the earth for him, all of that without him being the wiser. I disagree with you partly, we don't send an abuser's mother to trial as the main culprit of his crime. That is extreme, and to me, it is also extreme to assume mothers have no responsibility over how their sons turn out. This should get into the handbook. The ultimate reason why low tier men won't treat you better. They will resent you more. This should settle it once and for all, that ugly lowlife you used to like because you thought would like you because he wouldn't be able to match with another woman like you, he will cheat on you the second he gets the chance. We reconcile by setting standards and boundaries for the people we relate to. Then we cultivate an abundance mindset. We do this by hanging out at places where the people we look for are likely to hang out. So r/pornfree or r/nofap are nice places to read men who say no to porn amd realize they do exist. Too many women still refuse to believe that a majority of men will take female sexual service and emotional labor even when he doesn't feel attracted to her. For men being wanted and taken care of by a woman who isn't their first or 10th choice beats being alone hands down. If a cleavage pic made him ask you out, other cleavage pics will make him ask other women out. Keep this in mind. Also don't overthink why he is attracted to you. Because the answer is your looks, men base their attraction to women on how attractive they find them. High value men don't date ugly women with amazing personalities. I think this is a phase. Anger at them and yourself is the first defense many of us find. The anger yanks us away from repeating the same mistakes. If we keep progressing the anger subsides and gives way to a more neutral understanding of the situations. You will also experience despair for them, deep compassion, pain. You may feel hypocritical but it is all part of the journey. Don't be too harsh on yourself and you will naturally be less harsh on others.

Funny hoy you haven't mentioned having read the handbook in all those paragraphs. Overcoming learned helplessness goes far beyond the scope of FDS and for that a therapist is best. Leveraginf your and other women's trauma as a way to obtain free emotional labor is a very problematic behavior that victims often use. I will repeat: real victims of real abuse often use their trauma to obtain labor, attention and care from others. It is something to grow out of. And it is not within the scope of a d…

There is no point in giving advice when she says she resists it in the first place. Asking for "advice" in such an open manner feels like attention-seeking behavior to me, which is a thing to curb in order to level up. The ladies behind FDS have already put an unbelievable amount of work on the subreddit, the website, the handbook and creating a curated list of reousrces, that ignoring all that and going straight to making a new post almost asking to be spoonfed levels is almost offensive to me.…

As you mentioned there's the website with its own forum that was created specifically as a backup in case FDS was banned. You can also find a lot of resources on the sidebar. You are tolerating this kind of behavior around you which means either you need to keep a wall constantly up (exhausting) or risk normalizing low value or even negative value behavior. I don't see how this man could be positive for you. Especially because by showing you how he disrespects his girlfriend and you not calling him out he is forcing misoginy into your life. We must mourn the loss of the idea that men would be equal partners and start coming to terms with reality. For me it feels lonely to only look out for myself, but as I do it it becomes clear why it's so important. I am so glad when other women realize this too and become the centre of their own lives.

If you're talking hobbies or dishes and he asks "do you LIKE cooking" then it makes sense. If he asks whether you're GOOD at cooking, though, seems like centering himself and preparing a neg instead of asking about you and your interests. If you say yes he will ask you to prove it and cook for him. If you say no he will neg you about it. Lose-lose situation. It is a valid reason to throw the whole man out.

Why do you want other sources like FDS when we already have FDS? If you end up depending financially on a man you will bear the consequences alone. We will feel for you but ultimately we will go to bed without that crippling problem. If you resist the things that will ensure your safety and happiness don't expect other women to spend time and effort to convince you. I know it's hard to unlearn that but it is your responsibility. And once you're doing your work on yourself then asking for advice …

I'm uncomfortable with this. These women are people, not things. "The kimd of woman he says he likes vs the kind of woman he looks at in public" would not be objectifying, choosing to label them "what" doesn't feel right. Also both women have a ton of effort poured in their look and are very conventionally attractive so I think I get what it is trying to say but it's a bit weird to me. It feels like pitting women against each other with misogyny.

Have a stable job and savings to fall back on. Keep a group of friends, if you don't have flesh-and-bones ones, online ones will do. Have and maintain hobbies that fulfil you. Don't jeopardize any of that for man. That's it, you're set. Maintaining all that won't leave room for the man to occupy too much of your mental space and resources. And don't get pregnant.

This makes me think that men uglyfy themselves on purpose as yet another show of their hatred of us. If they all colectively are lazy and unwashed then women are more forced to settle. If no men are courting you, or those who are are not up to your standards, that's reality. Most men are trash. Then, whenever you spot a man that seems he could be high value, be receptive and inviting. Look at him, smile at him. That is all a man needs to court you. If you do not want to date him, befriend him. Hvm are more likely to hover around other hvm.

Your mindset isn't in the right place. You aren't meant to "attract" a woman, you are meant to court her.

Value is not the same as standards. You can be the most valuable person ever and still some women will not date you because of whatever reason (religion for example). Your looks and money are standards. Plenty of women will date someone of your looks and money, plenty of women won't. Just like you won't date certain women even if you have nothing against them. Value is different. Value is simple: be honest, treat people with integrity and dignity, listen to your inner voice that knows right from…

I'll say "Hi there, how are you today?". If after the obvious dismissal of his line and my invitation to talk aren't met with proper conversation I will ghost. Not even bother to unmatch. I like to tell myself that I give a second chance in case they are having a bad day.

Definitely shameless and lacking in self awareness to go and respond to those tweets the way he did.

Wow this guy is arguing that he didn't say he was convinced it's not compulsive. That is what he chooses to argue about in this situation. This makes me think he himself masturbates 3h a day.

They can if they choose to. All you can do is offer the possibility, show your desire to go that route and help them get started. If after that they don't do anything you have your answer. They don't want to. You can leave a relationship without doing any work to nudge the man into doing his part of the emotional labor to keep a relationship fresh and invigorating. It is not your responsibility. Just do it if you feel like it or to prove to yourself that you can't do their work for them.

Does a running car always come to a stop? Yes. Can you fuel up the car, accelerate and steer it to where you want to go? Also yes. You can take action to maintain a relationship exciting and fresh. It has to do with mindfulness and daily appreciation of the things you like about the relationship and your partner, not compulsively looking for novelty. Laziness will almost always breed the ugly kind of comfort, though.

Blaming another woman's sexual habits for the behavior of men is a very dangerous path to take.

This is anti-pill propaganda by the religious right. "Patriarchy didn't police women's relational interests. It was women!" Of course, women are at fault for men's lazyness and getting away with as much entitled behavior as they can. How silly of anyone to try and hold them accountable. It's the pill and women who were to blame all along! "The members of the institute all have ties to the religious right". Lmao. https://www.austinchronicle.com/daily/news/2014-03-03/austins-new-no-sex-institute/

Watch American Circumcision (2017) to learn about what it does to the penis and sexual health. As others said: chill. Groom yourself, be honest and live with integrity. That's all there is to a hvm, it really isn't rocket science.

No need to concern yourself with where you stand lookswise. Eat well, groom yourself, keep your environment clean, take care of your mental health, don't miss your medical checkups. Treat others well, with respect, with integrity. Be honest in your personal and professional life. The rest will take care of itself. Including an increase in your chances for dating pretty women.

Being a good partner that women want to date has nothing to do with your epilepsy. It's about how you treat others, your morals and integrity.

I do not act as if I like behavior that I don't. I do not like conversations where the other person does what you say: talk and not ask questions or show interest. So I don't text back because there is nothing for me to say. If I reply it seems like I am fine with that.

You don't change men. You ignore, block, delete the men you don't like. Take them as they are. If you don't like him then stop talking to him.

I haven't watched enough to tell if the show itself is sexist (like if they edit things to make women look bad, or if they put women in unsafe situations) but some participants are definitely sexist.

In all honesty I find reality shows eye opening. I can see problatic dynamics from a safe distance and it helps me identify them when I'm the recipient. It is also a relief to put my attention on problems that aren't mine for a while. :)

Passion ebbs and flows in a long term relationship. Both parts will have bad days/weeks of family tragedy, loss, stress, etc. Passion is necessary for some, and not for others. It is ok to require it, and it's ok to be good without it. For me personally it is important, I won't date someone if there isn't chemistry. But I wouldn't base a decision on it.

Have you ever gone about your life while experiencing a headache? Do the same now, instead of a headache you have those feelings. Feelings aren't a measure of your worth, your actions are. Finally, thinking about someone is not a measure of love. You probably love your mom or best friend or sister or cat and don't think about them every waking moment. A fixation is not necessarily love.

So this is a man who occasionally checks up on you. He calls you at night. Dumps his guilt and emotional trash on you. Then says he wants to get to know you. Sounds like his last interest didn't give him the time of day and now he can't sleep because he feels lonely and unappreciated. So what does he do? He calls the girl who sets no boundaries or standards for him because he knows you'll make him feel wanted. He could've called you during the day to ask you about your life and get to know you w…

Therapy isn't like a pill, but rather like medications: there are many kinds and not all of them will be a good match for you. Does the right therapy (and therapist) make a difference? Yes, a big one. It gives you the power to change the real source of problems and to be able to handle the future. I've met people who did therapy half assedly or stuck with a poorly matched therapist for too long. I've also met people who did their work and changed a lot (they never lost their "soul", they just be…

If you are actively working towards healing and filling your own void yourself, attending therapy and generally keeping an eye on your destructive and neglectful behaviors (both to yourself and others) it isn't low value. If you let your low self esteem dictate what you do and how you treat others and yourself, definitely.
